/agree with tijo. Post a link that supports your claim about the so called "requirements" to obtain all the benefits in GW2 and this thread will become interesting. Otherwise this is just another pointless "what-if" thread that has been done to death lol.

I want to know as bad as anyone how our Halls will transfer, but until Anet says something we don't know.

Also I may have missed it in the discussion, but I didn't notice anything about if those "requirements" are supposed to be solely on one character, or since the account info transfers are they only required on the account as a whole. (I don't want to get 5 elite armors for my ranger :P)

I don't need official statement that I have a brain. I can think for myself thank you, and what I posted is how it is. I also am not here to convince you into anything because I am not a missionary.

So if no one knows about r6 GWAMM, as I said that concludes the thread. Lock please.

This is confirmed requirements for the bonus in GW2, whatever that may be.
Neither I nor any article I've seen nor any poster has ever got any information out of Anet regarding the exact nature of the HoM effects of GW2. It's one of the things they have not yet spoken about.

Given that, where exactly do you get your data? Can you cite any interviews, any articles or anything stating anything about HoM? At all?

This is correct, right?
This is, so far, only your own claim. And you have cited no evidence. So, how could we know?

Kindly remember that we also have brains, can think for ourselves and similar. If you have any actual data, post it. We'll DEVOUR it. If not, it's just your conjecture and has no more worth than for example my idea that all you'll get is a few mementoes on the walls of your personal instance in GW2.

Devour it? No, you're just going to reproduce it then. Brain, that's the thing you use when you have pieces and have to put them together. I know, it's diffiucult after too much grinding.

Well, yeah, that's kind of the point of a public forum, isn't it? I mean, by what logic would one go to a forum and then NOT talk...

I came to this thread hoping to see a compilation of information that has been gathered so far. Instead, all I see is an OP insulting everyone that disagrees with his post even if they give valid arguments. The thread should be renamed to: "What I think matters in HoM for gw2".

To respond to this specific post. If you have read any form of decent literature then you will find that a lot of texts (yes, even internet articles) have information that is not clear from the start but is still there, this is called analysing (or devouring as the josip calls it). For example, the article on the elementalist on the GW2 website reveals a lot of information on the warrior. IGN pointed out that a lot of specific skills were described and that this was possibly a hint that the next class skill video release will be on the warrior.

IGN article part 2

That being said, I'll add some useful information on the HoM in GW2 that is actually confirmed:

"If you???re currently a fan of Guild Wars, and debating whether or not to "jump ship," as it were, to Guild Wars 2, the ArenaNet boys have included a little incentive for you, via the Hall of Monuments in the latest Guild Wars expansion, Eye of the North. It goes like this: when you accomplish something great in Guild Wars???maybe you finished a particularly gnarly quest???a monument is erected in honor of the event in the Hall of Monuments. The Hall carries over into Guild Wars 2, and all the greatness you achieved will still be on display, despite the fact that the action of the game takes place several hundred years after the first GW. This is about more than just bragging rights, though. Thanks to your efforts in GW, your character in GW2???the descendant of your GW character???will have access to exclusive titles, companions, pets, armor, and weapons. None of the unlockable content will give you a huge edge over other players, but it will provide you with a nice badge of honor that brands you as an Old School Guild Wars pro and personalizes the gameplay for you just that little bit more. Personally, I think something that nods to the old fans without screwing the new ones is a great idea."

GameLife, Interview: Guild Wars 2

So, when I analyse this article, it gives us the following:

-All the bonuses will be cosmetic
-The hall of monuments might give you acces to armorers that won't craft for you otherwise

These are of course, my assumptions. According to this article, it might not be an armorer it might as well just be a chest in which you find the armor and although it does say the HoM doesn't give you a "huge" edge over others in the article, it doesnt state it doesnt give you any at all. However, these are more likely than just random assumptions that someone comes up with through his own vision since it is based on an interview with the developers.

With these examples, surely you will be able to make decent thread on the HoM that has information supported by reliable sources.

Of course, things do change. That interview mentions exclusive "companions", but the interview was probably done before ANet decided to drop the companion system mentioned in a couple of early interviews. So we still have to take even "official" information with a grain of salt until we get the final explanation.

Any chance that this might relate to the unknown use for Medals of Honor? Perhaps they will be needed to actually transfer accomplishments from GW to GW2?

"but it will provide you with a nice badge of honor that brands you as an Old School Guild Wars pro"

The "Badge of honor" the quote refers to isn't an actual item. It's talking about your GW1 accomplishments in GW2 acting as a "veteran status" of sorts.

Keep in mind that those pieces might fight together into something coherent in different ways . Until we have any official info, your guess is as good as any (well almost any) You're not with only one with a brain or the capacity to use it, so implying people are wrong because they disagree with you is simply wrong in itself until GW2 comes out or we have solid info.

If it turns out you are right, i will gladly admit i was wrong. However, until then i will stand by my statement that your view on how the HoM will work is mere speculation.

Actually, I think it might be an actual item. A piece of armor that makes people recognise you as a gw1 veteran can be a badge of honor on it's own.

Also, I think it's just a way to conclude the paragraph, "badge of honor" here meaning the rewards they stated earlier.

EDIT:
@BrettM

Of course, people change their minds and nothing is certain at such an early stage of development as when the interview was done. The main reason why I posted that article was to get this thread going in the right direction, rather than just being a "you're wrong and I'm right" discussion.

EDIT2:

Some other thoughts on the article. It states the rewards being titles, companions, pets, armour and weapons. My guess is, originally they planned on rewarding each monument seperately, for honor you would get a title, for valor you would get a weapon, for fellowship you would get a companion etc. However, with the removal of the companion system the monument of fellowship would be without a matching reward, so the rewards might be something else completely.

I think it would be cool if you dedicate a whole set (1st year, 2nd year...) of minis that the bonus in GW2 would be a mysterious mini that would randomly select the skin of a mini of that set...

Agree or disagree?

Also does anyone think there is a chance at all of the actual Torment Weapon I dedicate to be avalible to my GW2 account?

All ANet said was that they would be giving us more detail "very soon". They did not give a specific date for when they would make this reveal, much less a date that was last week. You can't find it because it doesn't exist yet.

Believe me, when ArenaNet puts up that promised guide, you will not have any trouble finding it. It will be linked on every GW forum and fan site. Just keep checking their blog for the announcement, but I don't think it will happen before PAX is over and they have rested up again. Don't forget the whole company plays in the demos so that they are well populated.

None of what the OP said has been confirmed by ANET or anyone else working on GW/GW2.
Its all speculation and he has no article and/or statement from any ANET employee to prove any of it. Anyone who disagrees with his guesstimate gets flamed by him. Is there a reason this thread hasn't been closed yet?
