Post Should I?

So my account of 4 years got perma banned back at the start of the year. Since this new hype about GW2 and the monument calculator, I have a renewed interested in the game, and can potentially be seeing groups to join to complete the game again.

My question is, should I buy the games again to try and get GWAMM and prepare myself for GW2? I will definitely be playing GW2, and would like to get the best 'advantage' and status that I can prior to the game even starting.

I personally feel I will do it, but just asking people whether they think it will be a waste of time, I won't get far enough for most of the rewards, or I won't make GWAMM before GW2.

If you feel like it and can afford it, you definitely should in my opinion. If you are mostly interested in the item/pet rewards, you do not even need to get very hardcore, as most of them are available pretty "early".

You can even take a look at this guide before you decide. It describes the easiest ways to get the most out of HoM for GW2.

I think you can afford to buy a GWAMM account.

There is no "advantage" to gain at all from the HoM items. You won't have better items than anyone else in the game, as the gear will level with you and basically be the same as the other players who have gear of that level as well. Everything in the HoM is purely cosmetic.

Though some may argue that it does give you an advantage. Seeing as the gear levels with you, you never have to worry about finding gear your level. As with other players, they have to rely on what drops and what they get from quest rewards. So you will always have the best gear for your level, while others might be wearing gear that is a few levels or so lower than their level. Thus, giving you an advantage.

Like Adul said, it is very worth it to start in on the HoM. It isn't difficult to get 30/50 points, only takes a bit of time. And with the time between now and the launch of GW2, you should have plenty of time to get the points you need. There is tons of guides out there, so feel free to get started back up again.

Depends how enthusiastic you are I guess, I'm sure I've read some peeps here saying that gwamm is possible in a few months (god knows how though), I couldn't do it but thats just me. That said obviously you'll have your previous xp at gw's so that might speed you along.

You can create a character, get it to level 20 and farm constantly. Most of the monuments can be filled using gold including a few titles. You only need to get 30 points to get every reward item, the rest is just titles, and you get three points just for having the game.

Just play it smart this time and don't get banned or you will have once again wasted your time and effort.

No, you should only buy GW again if you want to play GW again. GW2 is a new game with new mechanics. You won't actually carry anything over from GW1, and you don't need to play GW1 to prep for GW2.

There will be no "advantage" gained from anything in GW1, and as far as "status" goes - given all the speed clears, runs, buying titles, etc., there will be no real "status" gained in GW2 either. Running around in GW2 with your GWAMM bonus will have about the same "status" as wearing chaos gloves with black Obsidian armor does in GW1 now - in other words, none (or less).

What'd you do?

You can get a lot of $ farming the UW solo with a Rit these days. Shouldn't take too long.
