Which Class Is Really Viable In GW Now? - Guild Wars Forums

I used to play GW since it came out, but around a year ago I stopped playing for a while. I played an Elementalist at the time, which was always needed in FoW & UW.

I've now decided to start all over again from the beginning, and was just wondering if it really matters what class I play? I remember it was EXTREMELY hard to get into any FoW or UW groups if you were anything but an Assassin or Elementalist really (with the exception of a couple other classes).

I'd really love to either be an Assassin or Necromancer if I started all over again, but I don't want to get to FoW & UW only to find out that I won't be accepted into any groups due to the class I picked, which was something that was happening a lot with players back when I used to play.

So basically, does it still matter which class I play or can I still get into FoW, UW etc with any class I pick?

Ya, my primary from the start of GW was my ele. Hes very good in GW.

I would have to say Necro, Ranger, Ele, Warriors, maybe even Rits.

I just created a Rit and I am loving it. A nice break from the ele for awhile.

So if I was to pick a certain class, it won't be like before when I was playing where I won't be allowed to join groups for FoW/UW etc due to my class?

Depends what you do and what class you pick,but certain farm and speedclear teams require rank and certain profession but for general PvE,anything is viable.

The current UW build afaik uses lots of sins, a couple of eles (who are healing not damagin) a sos rit, and a necro. The fow build uses perma tanks, and W/A or A/W Hundred blades warriors.

So if you want to make an assassin you will get into both, until/if they nerf those builds.

FoW manlyspike uses an AP Necro also to HB bomb

Your options are Ele,Sin,Necro,War(currently) and should you venture as far as places like DoA All 4 are capable of running Destructive was Glaive (Glaiveway) and perhaps others.

Play the class you enjoy. Not being able to get into a UW/FoW pug isn't the end of the world. Go with friends, and if they won't take you because of your class, get new friends.

One of the most easiest classes and people always seem to want is my Rit SOS Spirit Spam. Fun class indeed.

If you really want to see what professions PUGs take into UW/FoW then you could always login and stand in Temple of the Ages for a bit with your Ele and see what people are calling out for.

Alternatively, check out some of the meta team builds on PvX Wiki: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Category:M...ing_PvE_builds as a lot of people run these.

If you want to do FoW/UW with others, check out the current speed clear builds on PvX and pick a class based on that: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Category:M...king_SC_builds

It might not be right, (I'm not judging either way) but 90% of the groups meeting up for those areas want someone to play a very specific role. If your class fills the role, you'll get picked more often for pugs.

Oh, and sins and necs are both necessary for FoWsc, so there you're in luck.
