Default Ruby Daggers: Sell or Salvage?

Had a gold pair of Ruby Daggers drop today.

I'm currently working my butt off on Vabbi quests to get Trade Contracts for Vabbian armor.

Would it be more profitable to ID the daggers and try to salvage a ruby from them, or just leave them unid and sell them as-is to a player going for Wisdom?

as I'm too curious I would salvage ... if u sell unid u get max 700g - if u get a ruby ur 1 down for ur armor.

cheers

Salvage!!

You can farm up and sell any number of other items, but Ruby Daggers are like a game of chance! How cool is that?

Slap a "Measure for Measure" on them and roll the dice, my friend!

Don't get your hopes up, but I'm willing to make a 300g gamble against 10k.

Yeah, these days especially, I save measure for measures and throw them in things containing rubies, sapphires, and diamonds.

Does "Measure for Measure" improve your chance to get a jewel at all, or does it just increase the quantity of the salvage? I've started saving them up on the rumor that it helps, but I'm curious what exactly it does.

Another vote for MfM+salvage. After the HoM Calculator debuted, and I realized I'd need Vabbi armor, I started savaging stuff like that and ended up with a depressing amount of dust. Almost gave up hope, but then one day I took a chance on a Ruby Maul and some Jeweled Daggers (at least one, or maybe both, were not even gold, so easy decision there) and got a ruby and a sapphire. It was a good day.

I don't know if the MfM increases the amount salvaged (it does for other materials...but I've never gotten more than one gem), but I have so many of the things lying around, I figure, why not.

Welp, it was a dice roll regardless.

Ended up with 11 piles of glittering dust.

I need them to make Elonian Leather, so no loss.

I've gotten 2 rubies from ruby daggers and ruby mauls before. Also got sapphire from 5-6 iridescent aegis salvages.

You can also get them from sapphire and ruby djinn essences but the rate is low (I had about 150 of them and only got 1).

I always slap a MfM on Ruby daggers or hammers and salvage them. Usually just get common materials but every once and a while I hit pay dirt.

But has anyone actually done the research to see what the droprate is?
600g (unid gold) vs. 10k comes out to at least one ruby for every 17 salvages for it to be worth it.

Is Expert Kit better than Superior for this ?

Just saw other thread that Superior is the same as expert only with extra number of salvages

They're exactly the same. The only difference is the number of uses for the kit.
