Chest running in the echovald forest - Guild Wars Forums

Here is my dilemma. I want to do chest runs in the echovald forest because I need treasure hunter/lucky/unlucky titles, plus I would like to have a chance at getting nice echovald shield/gothic defender/guardian of the hunt.

Now... I would like to have the right information about those drops, or some tips on what should I do.

Is the info on the official wiki accurate about gothic defender/Guardian of the Hunt?

Based on the unofficial gw wiki, those 3 drop everywhere in the echovald forest, and both in NM/HM. Now if you go to the official one, the only area you can get a Guardian of the hunt would be Mourning Veil Falls in NM, and some other in HM. Gothic defender should only also drop in specific areas. the 2 areas I have "learned" to chest run are morostav trail (easiest imo) and mourning veil falls (only area where I can get Guardian of the Hunt in NM).

Then there's the thing about going NM/HM... I know I should go NM for retaining, so I get more lucky pts and pay less for picks.

If the gw wiki info is right, where should I go? Morostav Trail NM/HM or Mourning Veil Falls NM?

P.S. I got a gothic defender in Morostav Trail in HM, which isn't specified on the official gw wiki...

You can get all echo skin shields (Ornate shield, echovald shield, Gothic Shield, Amber Aegis And Guardian of the Hunt) Everywhere in the forest, and few places can drop Diamond aegis..

They drop in nm and Hm, but ofc changes for golds ones in HM are better..

And nm/Hm is up to you. Personally done pretty much only HM chesting, its probably way more pricey (even tho elite tomes are nice) But also gives way more gold drops then nm running..

And more golds= more btter drops

I can't comment on where echovalds drop, but I recommend chest running pongmei valley. You can get a wide variety of canthan rares such as plagueborns, jade staff/wand, paperfans, echovald shields, gothic axes. Pretty much any rare item found in kurzick/luxon territory and plagueborns.

Also I have been running chest for a while as well. I would recommend HM is you can pull it off for a couple reasons
1. IMO Lucky is easier title to get so in HM you tend to get more unlucky points. (A broken pick in NM is worth more then a broken pick in HM; but since you get more broken picks in HM....long story short I haven't done the math to see where the percentages work out so I could be wrong)
2. You can get elite tomes in HM. 2 of these will usually pay for 20 picks. I almost break even with tomes (not quite but a lot closer then NM)
3. Overall better drops in HM as more of them are gold therefore more points towards wisdom as well, or money for picks if you sell them unID'd

Thanks guys, I'll consider Pongmei Valley if I can find a decent route. personally I like Morostav Trail a lot since I can get to a specific area which has a chest spawn I can get to within 30-50 seconds. I might do NM only untill I get my next lucky/treasure hunter title. Getting plagueborn weapons would be really nice as well.

Edit : The only bad thing about pongmei valley is that it needs to be done in HM to get treasure hunter pts huh?
