Default Traveling to Cantha with a Nightfall character?

According to Wiki:

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Plague_in_Cantha

These are the requirements to get my Nightfall character to Cantha:

Guild Wars: Factions on the account
Elona Elonian (Nightfall) character
Secondary profession chosen
Kaineng City not yet unlocked
Mhenlo's Request neither active nor completed
Level 10 or higher

My new level 10 character currently meets all of these requirements but Funwa Shento will not give me the quest.

I see in the upper right of the page that the quest is preceded by The Time is Nigh which has a level 17 requirement. Do I have to go through everything on the island first to get to Cantha? For some reason I didn't think you had to.

Well, according to wiki on The Time is Nigh quest:

* The quests that allow Elonian characters to travel to the other continents become available in Kamadan after completing this quest.
o Terror in Tyria from Deras Tenderlin will unlock travel to Tyria.
o Plague in Cantha from Funwa Shento will unlock travel to Cantha.
* This quest is sometimes used to ferry people to the Consulate Docks, to help low-level characters get access to max armor.

So I guess you still have to do this one (and it's predecessors) first.

You have to complete "The Time is Nigh" quest.
Which comes after all those "Preparing for War: ....." quests.

Oh well. I guess I'll just play through the island then.

I wish there was an easier way to create a mercenary hero with an Elona hairstyle and face and elite Kurzick armor.

Unless you're unmovable about the Kurzick armor, if you had an empty character slot you could create a PvP character and choose the Elonian face and hairstyle you wanted. Two out of three isn't horrible, is it?

I want the armor. I'm replacing my PvP created merc heroes.

There is. If you have a character of the same profession, just get a makeover kit. Then get the armor for your other character.

As well, you need to be level 20 to make your character a merc hero. So it is best if your level 10 goes through the quest anyways to get the levels. Either that, or get a ferry to the Docks and do the missions up to the area with Elite Kurz armor. By then, you should hopefully of gained 10 levels.

I ended up just storming through the quests on the island and got there myself. I tried looking for a Canthan ferry but after 10 minutes, I gave up.

Just for the record: *every* Nightfall-created character, which has completed "Plague in Cantha", is able to ferry you to Kaineng Center immediately and forever without prerequisites. Just ask for someone in in your guild.

This works, because even after completing and turning the quest in, Mhenlo in Consulate Docks forever has the option to transfer you to the Kaineng Docks, and from there you can simply walk through the open portal into Kaineng Center.

The travel-to-Prophecies counterpart of the quest isn't working unfortunately, since the portal to Lion's Arch is closed - it opens only if someone has the transfer quest open and in the correct progression state.

Thanks. That's good to know for future reference.
