Default Do many people still play GW?

Hi everyone!

Im new to this forum, but I thought this would be a good place to ask this question.
Basically, I have Nightfall, it was the first GW game I bought a few years back. I have not played it very much, and to be honest, I don't know why. I am willing to buy the rest of the GW games, not alltogeter, but one at a time. I was thinking of getting Prophecies tomorrow, this one first because I like the Western theme, and apparently it comes with bonus stuff on the NCsoft website.

My question is - Do a lot of people play this game to make it worthwhile? I did notice something earlier which I stupidly forgot, I was in an International region but when I changed to an American one there seemed to be more people. Also, someone pointed out that because I never really got above level 7ish, there might be less people in the lower areas.

Any feedback would be really helpful, as I would like to get back into this game!

Any newer release of Prophecies would be the Game of the Year edition which gives you bonus items by typing /bonus into the chat box in-game.

Most people play in the America districts these days.
There are a fair number of people playing, but most of them are using Hero/Henchmen and/or playing in the later sections. There is usually lots of action around the Zaishen quests.

In the beginner sections you can expect to do most of it with Henchmen, or perhaps 1 or 2 humans plus Henchies - unless you join a Guild that caters to new players (they exist).

Thank you for your answer. Im online at the moment, creating a few characters and experimenting, and I've noticed in the American district there are people in the Chabeck Village area (SP?), talking and doing dances and stuff. I will try and also find a guild, because It seems there is a lot for me to learn I suck at new games at first, but I'll try XD

since gw2 is set to come out sometime--- there are still plenty of people working on their hall of monuments (which will carry over a few perks to gw2), so yes, there are still people playing.
Yes you will find most of the people are in the american districts and are already level 20, lots of people just run thru the low levels now (imagine you have 10 characters--do you really want to do that low level stuff again? or say 20 characters---).

You might also want to join a guild --there are still some that like to help out newer people (or people who havent played in years)...

There are still a lot of people playing the problem is lack of players following the storyline.

Even if you find a good guild, some of the time you will have to go it alone but that is ok because you have Nightfalls heroes and you can now have an ai party of 7 heroes and or henchmen.

In many cases this is better than a pick up group and perfectly good for playing the pve game.
Take it slow and see if you enjoy playing get yourself to lvl 20 build up your heroes then if still happy get Eye of the north.
Then you will have even more heroes and access to the hall of monuments.

You will have to rely on henchmen initially as you need to unlock the skills to equip your heroes with good builds but the game is still a lot of fun to play.

Plenty of people play, although it is harder to find all-human teams to partner up with for some missions etc

PM me in-game and I will help you, and if you need a guild, I can help with that too.

You are new, so I am sure i have a bunch of free weapons and suchlike to help you along.

You will love prophecies, the missions and storyline are great I find.

I'm still trying to decide on a class to make, but when I've decided on one I'll add you. Thanks! And I think I'm going to get Prophecies too

did you delete your old character/s ? I figure you could have a few birthday gifts on those you could put in the HOM when you get access.

There won't be many people doing the basic storyline content, though there are a large number of new players (such as yourself) who have been sucked in by the GW2/HoM announcements over the past few months. Playing storyline content now is probably easier than it was a year or two ago, in terms of getting a group. Still, fair warning: until you get to the higher leveled / more difficult / more title-focused content, you'll be playing with heroes and henchies a lot.
