its luck---some people say if you add the 'highly salvagable' inscription to them you have a better chance, though everytime I have done this I get more ....regular salvage material (like dust, iron, wood..)....and you need to use expert salvage --not the basic salvage kit

Also I think it's worth noting that the chances to get it are so low that generally you waste more by tryin to salvage than else, unless you're really going after that particular mat...in that case it's worth tryin.

I had rubies from Ruby Items a few times, sometimes with the highly salvagable inscription, sometimes without it. I can't judge whether adding it enhances your chance of getting the rare material, however it does yield a lot more of the basic material if you get it, so it's highly advisable to add Measure for Measure to everything you salvage for mats, really.

This is false, you just get more of the item if you get lucky and get a rare. You can get several rubies in 1 lucky salvage using a measure for measure.

I did say SOME people...I have never been able to get anything out of these weapons past some steel...but SOME people believe it to be the case.
Nothing false about me passing on what people believe (whether it be true or not).

I'm just stating the facts. ^^ You need a critical / lucky salvage with an expert / superior kit in order to get rare materials out of say a Ruby Maul. Without a measure to measure you can get a maximum of 1 per salvage, possibly 2 but I can't confirm that. With a measure for measure you can get 2, pretty sure I've had 3 as well from various Vabbian items.

Some people believe it affects chance but anything that hasent been proven to any degree at all after over 6 years I call BS at.

In my experience, "highly salvageable" just gives more of whatever you get, but doesn't increase the chance of getting rare salvage.

There is no way to guarantee you'll get, for example, a Ruby from a Ruby Maul.

Yes, that's what I've always observed as well.
