Default 30/50 HoM Noobie Help

My girlfriend and I are starting to play GW for 30/50 since we became big GW2 enthusiasts, so if someone could answer these question, much would be appreciated. We are currently only level 10 on Prophecies.

1. Many guides say you need a ridiculous amount of gold (well at least it seems likes a lot to me), will that be a problem? or should we skip those since we are just starting?

2. Which Expansion needs a hunter for the pets? Is it just Nightfall?

3. Can we get the HoM before we buy EotN? Just being cautious and not wanting to waste our money. Like can we do the 3 missions and then buy EotN and do what ever you do for adding points into HoM?

4. Is there a "THE GUIDE" to HoM? or does anyone of them work?

5. Is just getting lvl 20 in all of the missions a good way to start? Can we go back to a certain area and complete some of the HoM points? Would that be a problem and would it be possible we actually miss doing some HoM points like that and have to create a new character?

If anyone has any other contributions to this, it would be greatly appreciated like stated before. Any advice or anything on how to complete this or other answers that I should know would be FANTASTIC! .

Thank you in advance.

If you want a comprehensive guide to getting HoM points, look at the sticky on the forum you just posted in, that has a big red "read me first" in front of it.

1) For grindy titles, like Drunkard, Party Animal, and Sweet Tooth, yeah.

2) Factions, for the Imperial Phoenix and Black Moa. (every campaign can get the Black Widow)

3) Nothing counts for the Hall unless you have Eye of the North. Fortunately, all titles are retroactive, so if you get the title before EotN, it's no problem.

4) Beyond researching through the wiki (conveniently, each HoM Calculator page has a [?] link to the appropriate page as a starting point), I dunno the quality of any of the guides out there...

5) The only thing you'd have to create a new character for is the Legendary Defender of Ascalon, which requires staying in the initial starting area of the Prophecies campaign until level 20.

Play the game and if you are only interested in getting HOM ready for gw2, play it right. If you follow the guide, you won't have to do area's over and over again. So you go through in normal mode and try to do each mission (and bonus) with perfect scores the 1st time. Then do the same for Hard Mode. You do this by researching each new mission using wiki and or getting help. The best thing you can do is get a good full hero team since it's really not fair to ask guildies to walk you through everything. If you always play with your GF than the 2 of you will only need key heros for 4-8 man areas.

Figure out a team build that will work with your 2 toons. Sabsways, Discordway, RoJ, Spirits, etc will all do most of the game. Then you will only need help on a few hard missions or a guide maybe if it's a little complicated. With this same team, you can VQ and Cart and cap skills. Again this requires a bit of research so you have to read before doing each area for bosses (skill capping), amount and type of enemies, and any cart advice.

PVE Skills and Titles. If you run through the game in NM and get to EOTN, you can grab and speed book these titles. This is recommended because along with a good full hero team, the PVE skills will make the game easier for you in HM.

Last thing I highly recommend is that you guys both create farmers and farm events. You could have easily paid for all 3 titles during this last event by farming eggs and bunnys. Rits, Sins, etc can farm a few different areas and make you gold for titles and equipment. SOS farmer is simplest so start there if you have a rit.

theres not really a short answer for any of that. except the part about what profession can cap pets. any profession can cap pets as long as there half ranger. which can be changes later in the game so just start out with whatever you feel comfortable as
add me in game my name is loana ventrete ill try my best to help you guys out.

The best thing you can do for yourselves is play the game completely, and as Showtime said, play it right. Do every main mission in full. Also, look around on the wikis and find what specific items you need for your armors, weapons, and titles.

Finally, there are many ways you can get money once you have a level 20 character. An easy way for quick cash weekly is farming the Traveler items. Find out about these opportunities, surf the wikis, and honestly, it is too early in the game for you to worry about HoM. Keep it in the back of your mind, but play the game and enjoy it first.

If you look closely in Q&A, you can see a COmprehensive Hall Of Monuments guide. Your best bet to get 30/50 is to read that.

As for your first question....Well you do need quite a bit of money if you want to get to 30/50. A great deal of points comes from Prestiege Armors, which are expensive no matter how you look at it. However, you should get enough money for the armors imo if you finish all campaigns in NM and HM (just read how to make money guide)

Also....with gw2 ready to pop up anytime I doubt that you will be able to get 30/50 so fast (if you are looking for the items as soon as gw2 comes out). But there is no problem whatsoever here since you can keep playing gw and get rewards for gw2 even after it launched.

If it'll be just you and your girlfriend playing with six NPC heroes, consider getting some (or all) skill unlock packs.

After a month or so of playing I was so frustrated with my inability to progress through the campaigns that I considered quitting, but after buying the skill unlock packs the gameplay turned from frustrating to fun. It really made a world of difference.

Also, join a guild. It'll make a world of difference having people to both play with and ask questions to in-game.
