Default Player UIs

UI stands for User Interface(for the younger gamers) and it's basically everything the game is willing to tell you about your character's condition. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there edits their UIs, because all the screens I've seen have the old, boring, generic UI slapped up. To change your own UI, go to your "Menu" button, blick on "Customize" (at the top) and then you'll have a box pop up, that has a button on it called "Edit Interface" in the center, and is the biggest button there. Once you click on that, all your editable items will be surrounded by white borders, because there's a few invisible fields that are there to show you ailments you have, what your selected enemy is doing, etc.

Anyways, here's my customized UI, hope peope post their own customized UIs here too. :P

I have my UI set up the way it is, because I like having the quest bar open at the side(as I usually get 3-6 quests on the same map, and bum rush them all at one time). And I have the window large enough so I can see what the current objective is. Then, I put my party list on the top of the screen, so it covers the quest names, and I have the 'U' map on the bottom, that has the boring dialog and what not. Here's a screenshot to demo that as well. In this way, I can use my uber cool "peripheral" vision to see where I've been, where I need to go, and what is right in front of me. It also allows me to view the most recent events in the chat box, because lets face it...spam in a mission is annoying...so this covers it up for me. :P

P.S. I've changed these to .gif, loaded on image shack, so it might be a long load for slower connections, but if you want to see what a custom UI looks like, this is a good example.

rotating is a bit wierd, move a bar to a side then resize it until it flips..

I just started a fresh character, so I thought I'd take a screenshot of my GUI for you guys while it was still clean. Haha.

When playing on a 1280x1024 resolution (my default for desktop and games) you have loooooooooots of room even with default UI And that's the main reason I found no incentive to even bother changing mine.

The point to editing your UI isn't to make everything smaller, it's so your game is unique from everyone else's. It allows you to make it unique to your own tastses, and allows you to access information the game displays in a way that fits the way you play.

I agree, but my own tastes require a small UI

without changing the UI size to large, can you resize the font for chat seperatly?

anyone know if it is possible to get the radar map to be in front of the 'u' map?

i don't know if it would work or not, but i'd kindof like to have the radar in the center of the more zoomed out map. if everything worked right i'd be able to just look in one spot for the map, see the details on the radar and the zoomed out map on the outside to show where i'm trying to get to. plus it would cut down on the amount of stuff on the screen.

from what i could tell while playing last night it's impossible to get the radar to be in front of things, but maybe i was missing something.

Current UI set up:

http://luchaire.gamersoasis.net/Screenshots/GW23.jpg
(screenshot resized from 1280x960 to 800x600)

My "U" map and quest log are set up pretty like Rhunex's except on the lower right instead of upper left. I like having everything fairly small and in the corners.

I just wish there were a way to customize the chat window a bit more - I'd like to make the font smaller than the smallest the game allows and make the window much smaller than the smallest it allows.

Ha ha, I like to change my UI a lot, and already have about 6 times, I just keep forgetting to check these forums cuz I'm so busy. Anyways, I'm testing out how much I like overlapping my bars, it takes up less space, shows the same info, and looks cool(for me, which is all that matters ) Sorry to say, I can't post it, because image shack is choosing to hate me tonight, so you'll most likely never see the UI I have, unless you read my mind and all that fun stuff...

My low clutter GUI:

http://img86.echo.cx/img86/2134/leetlowclutter7eu.jpg

It's 1280x1024, so yeah you have been warned, but it's a jpg so the file isn't too large.

Why do so many people use 1280x1024 resolution? It's not got a 4:3 aspect ratio and is vertically stretched. I use 1280x960 or 1600x1200.

It's my desktop res as well. I tried all the 1280 settings and didn't like them. And I can't read anything at 1600x1200.

So yeah I went with 1280x1024 because I like it. Which is why I set most of my games to that res as well.

Um, I have 1280x1024, on an LCD 19" screen, and it's a perfect resolution(native). Not everyone has CRT's.
