what do u guys mean when u say by acelon settlement? i cant seem to remeber if thats a zone.. adn where is it??

Aaaargh! I accidentally salvaged a perfect +15>50 +5 Fiery Dragon Sword of defense last night *cries* Can't believe I did that...the mouse cord caught and my finger hit the button at just the wrong time.

Result: Fiery Sword Hilt :'(

I'll have to try this with my Icy one and Conjure Frost now

....and BTW, to get to the Ascalon Settlement, follow the map above to the top peak of the dotted red line. It's there but not a town you can teleport to.

Good build, I changed it up, I droped the sprint and Galrath slash, I took Vigourse spirit and defensive stand.

When you move to the NKP and back to bettlerun dont really need, you can sneak by or, heck I just ran from them a few times. It's pretty easy to take on 3, keep Vig up and you never get below 190 hp's few times I stayed above 300, (only 382hp's). I may change to the shield block, to stop there healing signet's instead of the stance.

i've recently started farming ettins with 55 monk with SOJ,holy strike, and disrupting chop...
kills them pretty fast but i've only gotten maybe a couple minor runes per 3 runs and just alot of tanned hides and leather squares

Each run, i go up from bergen hot springs killing all the ettins in the area, then port into ascalon settlement and kill those in the area(even the ones all the way to the east)prot back..kill those...and ascalon settlement one last time.

I thought I wsa farming them too much, so i did troll farming,griffon farming,missions(fort ranik farming charr hides), and even quests in between each ettin run...and still not even a major rune...

Because my weapon was already modded with a shocking axe haft, I used conjure lightning instead of conjure flame. With 10 in the air attribute I found myself doing 9 bonus damage to ettins, 18 while they were using healing signet. My question is this: does conjure flame add more damage to your attacks than conjure lightning?

It's North Kryta Province (the zone). When you first enter NKP you go through the Ascalon settlement, with all the NPC's walking around.

To all you who have had no luck ..... be persistent. I have had many runs with nothing but majors and minors, but I've also has some great runs, one of the best being two superior vigors, a superior healing and a major vigor. I now have superior vigors for all my characters and a superior absorbtion for my warrior.

I wish anet would make all gold armors superior runes.

I wouldnt mind if I got loads of purps, and blues and only the occasional gold, but I HATE getting tons of golds only to find major runes.

Oh well, I can't complain as I've had 2 sup absorbtions last week. (1 from ettins and 1 from titans)

The gold/purp/blue system does seem out of whack though

i agree after finally thinking my luck changed i wait to id them all at same time had 3 golds 4 purps and came out 5 majors and none worth anything i got to say im still having bad luck considering best drop so far is major vigor but ima try some more (i really need a sup vigor and absorb for pvp)

I am not sure if anyone else has figured this out yet. But there is a quest in the Ascalon Settlement area that is called I think "The Prized Pig". If you take that quest and then go find the pig. Which is just down a bit on the path to the right when you zone in from Beetlenun. Once you touch the pig and start herding him back to the farmer this triggers eight more Ettins to spawn and come right at you in intervals.

In fact once you zone into AC from beetlenun you can look back through the zone portal and see the ettins.

If you don't ever finish the quest you can do this repeatedly. I have been using it basically since I started farming them.

I tried this but never had any drops from these ettins at all. Can someone confirm this? I think they are dropless because they are part of a quest.
