And what's really sad that if you tried to sell them, people will turn them down or offer you less simply because they're purple and not gold. If they were gold with the same stats, the same folks would be tripping over their own feet in the mad rush to buy them. People, I swear...

The sad part is, getting it sold is pretty impossible, people only like shiny goldens or expensive greens

Which is funny to me because they're the same type of people that ctrl click their weapon set(s) at the beginning of a mission.....and no one is ever going to know whether their weapon is blue, purple, or gold unless they announce it.

Well I think purple should represent quality items. The colour purple was fancied during history and represented elite. During roman times, the colour came from a type of snail. I looked it up in the meantime:

'Tyrian purple (Koine Greek: πορφυρα, porphura), also known as royal purple or imperial purple, is a purple-red dye made by the ancient Canaanites/Phoenicians in the city of Tyre, from a mucus-secretion of the hypobranchial gland of a marine snail known as the Murex brandaris or the spiny dye-murex.

The Phoenicians also made a purple-blue indigo dye, called royal blue or hyacinth purple, which was made from a related species of marine snail, called the Murex trunculus or the banded dye-murex.

Tyrian purple was expensive: the fourth-century BCE historian Theopompus reported, "Purple for dyes fetched its weight in silver at Colophon" in Asia Minor.

The fast, non-fading dye was an item of luxury trade, prized by Romans, who used it to colour ceremonial robes.'

I would like to have a perfect purple item.

Aye, but alas, that is the nature of the beast.

It's about status and vanity, really. Just as in real-life, why would you prefer a gold necklace to a silver one that's identical in every way, except that it's silver?

Really, I couldn't care less about purples having 14^50.

A weapon is cool to have if its gold and has excelent stats (gold = rare, as the game stated itself some months back)

Of course, I'll never USE the 'bling bling' weapons, but come on, I think everyone can afford a good green to use.

Of course there are always people who say 'who cares if its purple or gold' etc. Well I do, there has to be SOME use in gold items, and thats the bling bling. (since no1 actually USES gold weapons, but prefer greens)

Let's be honest everyone, if you had the choice between a gold 15^50 Storm Bow, and a purple 15^50 one, which would you choose?

I'll ask you a question, if the purple one would have one extra custom mod ability(total of three) would you still prefer your yellow one with two custom mods?

Bah, I pick weapons based on usability and stats. I don't give a flying you know what what color it is. I'm also cheap, which usually puts me out of the loop to buy things. Sometimes I'll splurge, but not often.

The real question is, how much may I buy the storm bow for? My noob mate started GW, and he likes it, and I told him about Storm bow's cool skin, and would really like to get him one.

Ah, but the difference between real life and GW is that no one can tell what color your weapon is (blue, purple, gold) unless you announce it or show it off somehow (dropping it on the ground or opening trade with someone). In real life, you can see the difference between gold and silver necklaces.
