Default New AI indeed.

We all know Anet changed the monsters' AI to make it more realistic, like not staying glued to a single target and being intelligent about AoE. I think this sums up the new AI of attacking monsters...

"GET THE FSKING MONK!"

Yes, that does say "x19 Swift Chop." No, I couldn't kite. I had 8 surrounding me. -_-

Edit: I totally posted this in the wrong board. Move to screenshots if you please. >.<

The new AI needs a LOT of tweaking. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

I don't have much problem when finishing game with my monk. Maybe because I'm a pvp monk and I am used to being chased and pressure.

She's a bonder. I've seen mobs go for Monks first well before the mobs were made smarter, but given that screen, and from experience, yes, they will go for the Monks first. That's why Monks/Dunkoro/Tahlkora/Khim/Mhenlo are always sought after first by enemies.

This wasn't the first game that employed such tactics on AI, though, EQ2 is notorious for that too.

"New AI" is a developer's term. Loosely translated into standard english, it means "The healer dies."

Actually, I've noticed this, too. I've had a hell of a time keeping Alesia alive lately with my Mesmer/Elementalist. I find the most efficient way to combat a group ganging up on the Monk is to drop an AoE right on them. Firestorm works well for me, and with Fast Casting, it's instant cast. Works great in a pinch.

AoE and a Dervish; use those on Monk-seeing enemies. Besides, don't we go after enemy monks first 8 out of 10 times?

Hmm i dont personally think the AI needs tweaking (in this department) much, maybe the mob should not completely disregard all other allies and go for the monk but a few should harass the monk. Personally I havent had problem, but like another poster said, im also a PvP monk so im used to some people wanting to tear me up. Dervish is probably the best monk defender, plus a monk should be able to kite and/or reduce damage against him/her self.

BTW if your using life bond or any other maintainable enchantments that effect the enemy output or damage the enemy. They will come knocking at your door.

Boon + frantic RoF/Guardian-ing, I suppose. I didn't stand for long, died about 7 seconds after that screenie. The Lance decided to get in on the Kill The Monk [TM] action, too. I was working on leveling up my heroes there. >.>

I'm not a bonder, I was running boonprot. I'm used to pressure too, but not being gang-molested by bugs [except in UW, of course].

Same. I'm used to having people break through the front line to knock me down and shove an axe up my ass, this is nothing new, and really, still a hell of a lot easier that facing a semi decent warrior team with a good adrenal spike.

I know the feeling. I died once from pulling too much just to test out the new AI. As soon as I was ressed with Resurrection Signet, I was hit with 7 spells and died pretty much a second after being ressed.

I don't see a life bond, or in fact, a single maintain enchantment other than divine boon anywhere in the picture.
