Exclamation Photoshoot Assignment 07: Inspiration - Evaluations

To think, its already down to the final six, we're halfway there, and before you know it, you guys will be the model-muses for a new group of twelve! But before we get ahead of ourselves...lets get the evaluations for this week!

Arala Starsong

Muse: Xo Katina Xo - Ciao Bello!

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...laStarsong.jpg

Judge 1: I like what you we're trying to do, it does kinda look like a reflection between personalities. My biggest upset is the use of a recycled pose, it works, it really does, but I just think it's too late in the competition to be falling back on similar posing styles. It's all about improving and serving new ideas at this point of the competition.

Judge 2: I love the idea that you brought inspiration from Katina's picture and then tuned it up with inspiration by the Yin and Yang comment that we made. You dropped the male model part of that assignment, and you brought in yin and yang. I like it.

Judge 3: It's a nice picture, but I've seen it before. I want to see a range of looks that you can achieve, and lots of variety within each look. It's final six, the time to impress us is now, showing the same look twice is not a good choice. You're both monks, synching with a stronger emote at opposite viewpoints would not have been hard.

Bierflesjes Klauw

Muse: Malefic Mistress - Winter Catalog

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...esjesKlauw.jpg

Judge 1: It was an admirable attempt to try and redo a Malefic Mistress' winter look into a summer look, but I don't really like it. The tattoos really bother me, again, model's don't sport highly visible tattoos. I think if you we're gonna use that armor, I would go for a more high fashion approach, and try to convey body paint art rather than tattoos. It's all about making it work in your setting. If you we're going for a summer look, change the color, make it look like you're part of some islander's tribe, by doing that, you lose "tattoos" and gain "body art", same thing, but based on setting, one considered more fashiony.

Judge 2: I think its cute that I see the glimmer of light that is in your shot made by the crystal that was also in Malefic Mistress' shot due to her CE.

Judge 3: I don't like this picture, the pose is a little boring, it doesn't give me that punch that Malefic Mistress had. I know you said you wanted to add boots and gloves to give you more attitude, but honestly, thats just too risque for my liking.

Lokii Dia

Muse - Mortissia Faust - Who's The Boss?

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...07LokiiDia.jpg

Judge 1: This is a better representation of tattoo use for modeling, this reminds me of the aboriginal dance photoshoot from ANTM. This is more fashion forward as far as the tattoos goes, but unfortunately, your face is shaded and there's a spirit lingering behind you.

Judge 2: I'm going to disagree with what you said and say Monks are sexy. There is some sex appeal in this shot, it might not be ritualist sexy, but it's sexy in it's own right. You brought in your own sex appeal, which to me, is your hook for inspiration. I do like the picture, but I keep finding myself staring at the spirit next to you.

Judge 3: I do think that this is very reminiscient of the ANTM aboriginal dance shot, this does look like a dance. It reminds me of the game princesses play during the medieval times, with a pole with ribbons and girls would take a ribbon and dance around the pole. So you're doing a ribbon dance with tentacle monster, I like lots!

Lunamaria Cruz

Muse - Summer Newmentz - Who's The Boss?

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...amariaCruz.jpg

Judge 1: I'm not sure how I feel about the picture. I think you we're trying to be way too "original" to make it inspirational. If you didn't tell me that Summer Newmentz was your muse, I would've never guessed Summer Newmentz being your muse. Not only we're you not in the same pose, but you also used a completely different boss. To me, it feels like you we're more inspired by the assignment, rather than Summer Newmentz.

Judge 2: I feel the exact same way, you used a completely different boss from Summer, and everyone else for that matter. I really do feel that you sent in an assignment for Who's The Boss? rather than Inspiration. I cannot tell or feel the similarity between your and Summer's pictures, other than the base assignment.

Judge 3: The pose for me is too pinched. It makes for a nice shoe ad based on the interesting posing of the legs, but this isn't a shoe ad. You look short and stumpy, face is nearly non visible, and like the other judges, I don't see that connection between yours' and Summer's pictures.

Miss Melly

Muse - Jaden Stone - Ciao Bello!

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...7MissMelly.jpg

Judge 1: This is probably my favorite based on picture alone, but to me, its doesn't have enough of your flavor to it. It's too similar to Jaden's picture, just with a different background.

Judge 2: I liked that you took inspiration from Jaden Stone's picture as well as her story behind the picture. You gave your own twist to the story saying that you had an argument over directions, and you brought it to life with a new background with a trail in it.

Judge 3: I think you would've had a better picture if you maybe switched the professions. Jaden had a male mesmer for her picture, so maybe if you switched it, be the female mesmer and used a male assassin, I think that would've took your picture to a more unique appeal than what it is now.

Szei Ren

Muse - Burnout Chic - Fashion Capitals

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z.../07SzeiRen.jpg

Judge 1: There's really no unique element to this picture other then you posing in a different manner.

Judge 2: I know your hook was trying to remake Burnout Chic's sexy picture to a more softer-fresh look, but that's what made Burnout Chic's picture good. The pose you're doing is slightly bland, rather than fresh.

Judge 3: I think you could've made it more unique, use a differen't statue in a different area. Your twist to the picture didn't show me enough initiative that I'm looking for.

Alright, we have our scores, and eliminations will be announced tomorrow!

And before I post, I just want to say that Cycle 1 contestants should be very proud of themselves, you have no idea how highly some of the Cycle 2 contestants spoke of you guys! So give yourselves a pat on the back!!!

Other than that, good luck to our current contestants!

nice work everyone.

LOKIIIII, monks ARE sexy! It sucks that we don't get to read what you guys wrote up, but good for you for doing the super hard tentacle monster. He's annoying as heck to work with, kudos to you!

(im clearly biased, LOL)

Arala, I <3 that shot. <3 <3 <3

My pick of the litter for this week is Miss Melly. The picture tells a story and the inspiration it has drawn from Jaden is obvious without being a carbon copy. Colours are great, about the only thing that bothers me is the composition... Melly's gaze off the right frame of the shot makes it feel a bit unbalanced as she is placed very near to that frame and is definitely the most commanding figure in the image.

Just wanted to point out that the dye-able parts on the 8k tattoos are NOT the tattoos, but the edges of the bikini top and bottoms.

Woow they're all so great! I think I like Miss Melly's and Arala Starsong's best. In Miss Melly's I really love the lighting, you clearly made yourself stand out more and the background and story with it really works! I love the forests in GW. Though, I would've cropped it a little more as in take some from the top and left side.

In Arala's I really like your idea, how you took Katina's picture to the next level and working with what the judges originally said of Katina's. I like the positioning and you really made yourself stand out.

On the other people; I like the overall idea in Bierflesjes Klauw's, I think it's probably one of the best in ideas as to be inspired by a picture and make it very different without losing the thought of the original. However, I think maybe a lighter background would make you stand out more (I do love the trees and I'm not really sure what place would be better than this so I guess it isn't that great critisism..)

Lokii Dia's would be my third favorite probably, I really liked Geishe's original as one of the best from cycle 1 and you can really see how you took Geishe's and made it your own. I really like your positioning, though it's probably the lighting, it makes you stand out a little less. Love the armor btw.. I want a monk ^^! The spirit was bad luck.. but it only bothers me when I actually go search for it, otherwise it blends a little with the boss so it's not that bad.

Lunamaria Cruz', I think you could've taken Summer Newmentz' picture to the next level. I think maybe standing on top of the dead boss would be kind of cool (like, reverse roles) or maybe just fighting the same boss as in making it a revenge sort of thing. I do love the positioning on your picture though, you really seem in a tough battle 1 vs 1. The background makes the whole scene appear dangerous and kind of "decisive battle". I really love your armor on this (but that's just personal taste, I really love the look of the primeval!), I think you could've posed a little different to make it better (maybe like how you posed for the action assignment, or maybe take a blade or axe and use that).

Szei Ren's; I don't have the original picture for reference (it was Burnout dancing near that statue right?) but I do kind of agree with the judges that your picture isn't really that moving. I still love your background and positioning (I really love that pose as well!). It seems to me as if you're stepping into Elona and looking over it, accepting your new adventure (I like that idea, but not sure if it seems the same to others). I don't really see Burnout Chic's idea in this though, so that's my only problem I think.

Whew, that's all my comments, don't bite my head off ;p! I love each and every of those and know I wouldn't have done it better so everyone well done! Deliberations will be really tough..

You understood what I wanted to show with my picture definately. I really wanted it to look like the decisive battle. In Summers picture she was the only one showing hardship in her picture since she was defeated from her boss and it was exactly that part i wanted to recreate Like it has been said it might have been too original but.. i felt like this was much more on the inspiration line then if i would have only coppied the pose. And yes the Boss isnt the same i agree but i still took it in the Luxon area with a human boss having really similar looks...

P.S. Arala your picture looks good The Yin Yang effect looks really cool
Bierflesjes it was a good idea to reverse the winter shot in a summer one and I think the pose is very model like and you look quite confident on it.

Hmmm, everyone did very well. I think I would take Arala's this week. The image really jumped out at me when I first saw it and it stays with me the longest. The pose history mentioned by the judges isn't ringing any bells with me either(application pics?). Melly gets an honourable mention from me. The armor and scenery work so well together, and with the mesmers, I just read robin hood/woodsmen. Melly is the focus without having to get dramatic; I maybe would have the male mesmer's head set a different way, but that's really nitpicking. Great job everyone, though.

Wow! Beautiful shots from everyone this week. I'm sure happy not to be a judge at the moment -- I loved every single one. Also want to thank everyone who commented or critiqued my photo. It's especially the critiques that help so much with improving! I really appreciate it.

I gotta say.. this is my favourite screenshot you have done so far
The background looks nice... and the colour choice of your armour is exellent ..+ it fits with your character perfectly and same goes for your male model.
Good work
