Default stereoscopic 3D with iz3d, (image warning!)

(mods, this could probably fit in the screenshot exposion page aswell, but since its about the 3D effect in gw itself and mostly uses the screens to visualize, whatever you decide)

Im sitting here feeling guilty about my dorkiness.

mainly because im wearing a red/cyan stereoscopic 3d glasses...

i tried out iz3d:s driver using the anaglyph mode (yes i know its much better with real 3d screen and glasses, but since this came as a faint of heart this would do)

It works suprisingly well, and i get the best 3d feeling out of black/white mode (you get to sacrifice colors, but its fun to play with)

if you have a red/cyan glasses you can use them at these images to get a sence of the effect

sorry for the image size

have you tested playing gw in 3d? (probably better than this )

I don't really see this fad for 3D this, and 3D that. It plain just doesn't work for me.

Some people have slight anomalies in their eyes rendering them with an inability to see 3D images.

Either you're RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed, or you dind't experience a well implemented 3D environment (Avatar comes to mind). Playing in 3D simply is more fun for the obvious reason that video games try to oppress their virtual reality on us, so that it feels real. This is why even today's games have loldrama (gwen :'( ), and other "emotional" plot devices. Adding 3D simply is the next obvious step, and as I recall, they're even experimenting with hooking up a computer impulsed wire to your brain (the back of your neck where the nerves converge) which would directly stimulate the brain.

30 years from now, people will look at 2D gaming like we look at Pong and non-virtual games (playing with a stick and a ring -like they do in 20's movies ^^): Sure, it was fun at that time, and might even be fun now to try for nostalgic reasons, by why ride with a regular car if you have a bugatti standing right outside your window...

@ Miriforst:

I'm also not sure, but I think for this to work, people need to have perfectly alligned glasses. I believe there's douzens of red and cyan glasses, so shouldn't you have to give the exact color number?

Anyways, thats what I have from past experiences. (A friend tried to experiment with photoshop, and it dindt work with my glasses, but it did with his. They were both red/blue ish)

There is a difference, though. Games have had interesting gameplay features added since Pong (which is... a very easy and boring game). What will 3D add to gameplay value?

3D glasses is just the middle step,
soon we'll all have 3D capable monitors slightly projecting different images to each eye. Problem is you probably have to watch it from a set distance and angle.

I'm one of those, I discovered it a few years ago. But it looks like a consistence percentage of people has this problem, so if they're ever going to implement games only made with the system, they're cutting out people. Oh, well.

Eh, quite honestly, I think 3D should just be left in movies, and even then only as a every now and then thing. I'd rather not ruin my eyes, thanks.

Although so long as it's entirely optional should it ever be fully implemented in gaming, I'll be fine.

well I am one of the people who cant see in 3d either...has to do with my being blind in one eye (not easy to use those 2 color glasses when all I get to see is either the green OR the red, not both).....so all I see is blurry stuff that makes me nauseous. And I HOPE it never is THE thing since I am not alone (hd makes me sick too---but thats only supposed to effect about 20% of the population, and I guess they figure that the affected population dont have tv's).

Guild Wars already is a 3D game. That's what annoys me the most about all of this "3D" crap.

It isn't flat like pong (which is actually a 2D game).

I'm with cosyfiep, in that I'm legally blind in one eye. So the other eye's vision dominates, so even them fancy proper glasses with shutters won't work to well either. It's also the reason I can't see Magic Eye pictures.

It's interesting as a concept, just don't really see the usefullness.

They're already kind of getting it down.

Not sure I'd want to play GW with those red and cyan glasses on though; they always bothered me. =p

Oh hell yes!

I really wasn't expecting much from this but it's just made me want to play Guild Wars a hell of a lot more than I do.

lol for those of you w/ glasses you know how annoying it is to put 3-d glasses on top them. So, until they create prescription 3-D glasses ima have to say ima be out of that trend lol

Interesting, I made a thread about if anyone had played or seen GW in 3D with the monitor and glasses. To bad I don't have the glasses though :/.

Haha just got the glasses and tried it, I actually see it. Works pretty well actually. Going to install it sometime today and see how it works in game, looking forward to it.

you might be very one eye dominate (you can check by covering one eye and looking at a spot...then covering the other eye and looking at the same spot--then look at it with both eyes--and the time it moved is the less dominate eye) lots of people cant see the magic thingy (I can sometimes if I squint really really hard).
Its not easy being partially blind (especially since mine is my right eye and our world is very right eye minded).

More problems with 3D; Some people get migraines from various of 3D methods (specifically the newer ones, like what Avatar used). *raises hand* And it sucks. So I don't get the 3D fascination either. :P
