I meen, how does DSS help with this, just curious to know, heard someone mention it.

The wiki page states is quite well,

.. the ideal filetype to use (if possible) is .dds. It has the smallest filetype which supports alpha, and is the native texture format which Direct3D uses. This means that using .dds does not require your video card to do additional conversions to display your texture, using even less memory and bandwidth compared to the other formats. If your image editing program does not support .dds, plugins can be easily found for Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, and GIMP.
I like the fact that there's actually an alpha channel embedded in the files so I can edit the transparency as a mask without touching the actual texture image. Though .bmp and .tga also have the alpha channel, I don't feel comfortable working with so much larger filesizes.

Arcane_Penguin, that UI mod is hot !

Thanks for the comments

Finishing off the caves, now I have to work on the water (seems like the sky texture is repeated underneath the water for a 'reflection' look, but the red somehow makes the water look green and like its got mold and fungus growing over it lol)

Sorry to post again so recently but this modding thing can get addicting.

Some of the mods here look insanely difficult to do...(burning background one for starters) Great job everyone!

I put a bit more time into this one...not much more mind you but a bit more.

The changes made are as follows:
  • Changed the eye color to green
  • Added a bit of shadow under the eyebrows
  • Changed Obsidian Shards to a bright green "glowing crystal"...makes it look like the armor is powered by something. hehe
  • Added the "Wind" kanji to the armor. I wanted to do forestwind but didn't have the brush for "Forest" and...so on
  • Added more defined streaks in the hair
  • Added an extra 2 belt straps to the chest piece
  • Changed the jewelery color on the forehead band to green

Added some older shots for comparison.

I really like the concept that if you don't like a certain aspect of your armor, y ou can change it to whatever you want if you really cared enough. I guess the only downside is, you'd be the only person who could see it.

On top of that, I would use my own mods, but I'm currently in the middle of farming stuff...and well...I don't want to get banned for using a 3rd party program and doing the equivalent of bot-like actions...although I'm farming titles not items so maybe it's different...but I digress.

*sigh* stupid update! it changed the login screen to be more dark-ish, so, now I have to remake it all, have to figure out what texture was what then replace them all *sigh*

EDIT: bah! they diddn't just recolor it, they rotated the sky around! so things are unaligned (some of the sky is in the left hole where the cave is now >.<)

I'm really having fun modding, it's awesome Here's two that I modified.

Just adding some decals, Chinese writing and turned the fiery gladius into a icy gladius (blue flame).

My necro's improved swimwear :P
