Default Avatar the movie = Eye of the North

I think lot of you have seen Avatar trailer. For example official page one: http://www.avatarmovie.com/, or the shorter one on youtube.

The Pandoria forest, levitating rocks and this world scenery, so strong reminds me Asura land from EotN!!!
For example this concept art shows all (watch this and trailer):

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1192732580

I think its some kind of plagiarism. Also it's said film is strongly inspired by Anderson book from '52.

What do you think about it? I'm confused, I had so strong deja vu when I watched Avatar trailer. Its only me?

Floating rocks, landmasses, castles, etc. are a common theme in fantasy, faerie tales, sci-fi, etc. Plagiarism isn't the word you're looking for. James Cameron started working on Avatar long before Eye of the North.

edit: Apparently someone else noticed and posted the similarity.

How about you remove the 'Plagiarism' accusation from your title, because Arena Net doesn't have the copyright on every single fantasy element or idea ever.

And, you are right, you are confused. And uninformed. Arena Net, Cameron, and anyone who's taken a stab at fantasy can pretty much thank Tolkien, Geiger, and Gygax for creating the genre. So bickering over some entity who implemented one idea 2 years ago ripped off another entity who did something similar 3 years ago is pure nonsense.

EOTN was part of Prophecies originally and they were going to release it but changed mind at the last minute and sold it as a separate package IMHO. So EOTN plagiarised Prophecies I think. I think even the EOTN was part of the map floating around in beta but I never saved it.

Horizons had "Floating rocks" two years before Guild Wars, and something else had them years before Horizons, and something else years before that.

No plagiarism involved in any of it.

No plagiarism involved, I agree.

Mind, I definitely got Asuraland vanquishing flashbacks.

Especially when the pissed-off dinosaurs turned up.

I think Tolkien has been dead for some quite time. Although I think he would be even more amazing if he managed to sue someone.

Sure does. He finished off and published one of his father's books that he didn't finish.

Anyway, floating rocks/structures isn't really an original idea, and it's definitely nowhere near plagiarism.

His son didn't really invent the elves or orcs. Sure his son has the rights and so on, but.... yeah. He only finished books, he didn't actually invent anything.

But whatever his dad invented, means he can sue for.

Hi friend I have seen the movie itself, its very nice and the forest and mountain is shown in the movie is just imagination of a director but I dont think that is not even available in any planet. If you have a chance then watch the movie without fail.

your opinion is wrong. even if you are right, EotN did not "plagiarise" prophecies, since both are original works done by Arena Net.
