Default Souls of Torment [RIP] Recruiting

Are you sick and tired of...
  • ...getting no help when you get stuck in story-line missions?
  • ...not being able to find anyone to vanquish with?
  • ...being unable to beat those Hard Mode missions?
  • ...looking for that last .5% of a map and need a hand finding it?
  • ...receiving no response when you ask something on guild chat?
  • ...feeling lost, unknown or non-existent in a large guild?
  • ...feeling alone and would like company other than Koss and Talhkora?
  • ...relying on pick-up groups and would prefer a regular, reliable group of polite and patient players?
  • ...being called a "NOOB"?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then we may be the right guild for you!

Guild Introduction

Souls of Torment [RIP], a 40 member, Kurzick aligned guild, is looking for new active players with laid-back gaming attitude and a good sense of humor to join our ranks. Here is a little bit about us.

Souls of Torment [RIP] was founded in December 2006, after breaking away from a large member (200+) multi-guild after one of the guild leaders felt the alliance was recruiting too fast and the atmosphere had strayed away from the “close-knit family" ideal. A group of close friends, who are active gamers and enjoy playing together, decided to follow him and the Souls of Torment [RIP] was born.

We are a close knit-family simply due to our past recruitment methods. This guild is a community where everyone knows one another. We like to invest our time to get to know our new members and at the same time, we ask new recruits to invest their time to get to know us. We have a very laid-back atmosphere and a mutual respect for one another within our guild. The majority of us are working professionals (aging from 25 to 40+) and have a family outside of Guild Wars ourselves so we wont expect you to devote your life to playing either. Our most active hours are in the evenings, Central Standard Time, after work though we do have a few early birds in the group. We even have our share of GW addicts with several "I am Very Important’s" in our guild if title hunting is your thing. You'll find that officers in the guild are both knowledgeable and helpful. We are very understanding that family and real life issues are more important than the game, however we do expect a reasonable minimum of activity level from members.

We are PvE based, however, there are regular PvP alliance events.

We are currently in the Blade and Roses [BaR] Alliance, a six guild alliance of other like-minded communities. An alliance vent server is also available and is used as a regular meeting place to hang out and chat by members from each of the guilds.

Our expectations of new members are fairly simple in that we ask you abide by the guild's rules of conduct. They've come about over time to avoid unnecessary problems and are as unrestrictive as we can keep them. So that you can decide if we match the ideals of a guild you're looking for I'll include them here:

Quote:
Guild Rules
1. General Conduct
  • Have Fun: There is a reason this is the very first thing mentioned in these rules. Guild Wars is a game, and should be treated like such. The primary purpose of any game is to have fun, and this should not be forgotten. We are all here to have a good time.
  • Patience: While there is no prerequisite for experience in the game, there is one for showing patience and understanding to other members of your guild that may not have that experience. If you are the type that will lose your temper simply because someone made an accidental mistake then you are apart of the wrong guild.
  • Drama: This isn't a theater, a movie studio or an audition. The members of our guild are here to have fun and that involves being able to enjoy the game without the inclusion of unnecessary drama. If you cannot check your baggage at the door then you will be asked to step back through it.
2. Guild Chat Behavior
  • Swearing: The majority of the guild are grown, mature adults and a ban on such language is certainly unnecessary, but please limit just how graphic you get. There is no written line to cross of sorts, but if an officer asks you to tone it down then please respect that. They may be asking for themselves or because another member asked them to. Either way, their judgement is the line.
  • Discrimination: Any form of racial, religious or lifestyle bigotry is considered in very poor choice and illegal in any way by either joke or comment on guild chat.
  • Adult Content: Please consider guild chat as being 'R' rated at the most. While there is certainly flexibility here please do not take it over the line.
  • No begging: We are not here to line your pockets because you are too lazy to do so. We are not here to run every character you make through every mission or through areas so you can skip ahead of the game (Drok's for example) because you do not want to actually play the game. We will, however, be more than happy to go on missions with you and help you through them because we enjoy playing the game.
3. Guild Activity
  • Activity: There is set level of activity within this guild. Most of us are working professionals with lives of our own and families to distract us. I would just ask that you do not become a stranger. It is also requested that all members of the guild take the time to check the forums occassionaly as information may be put out here as well as the opportunity to go on regular guild events.
  • Absences: We want people that are active, and have fun playing the game. If you are going to be absent from playing for a period of greater than 1 month please make sure we are aware of it by placing a post in the forums. After 2 months of unexplained absence you will be removed from the guild under the belief that you are no longer playing, but you will be welcome to rejoin should you return. I understand that players need a break from time to time or have issues in real life that may take them away from their regular gaming schedule, but please keep us informed if you are going to be away for an extended period or have chosen to discontinue playing Guild Wars.
4. Membership
  • Recruitment: Our goal as a guild is not to grow to a massive membership base, but instead focus on quality of community with the members that we do have.
  • Dismissal By Officers: The people who have promoted as officers, who were voted to this status by our members, are the guild leader's direct representatives. Should they decide that you are unable to follow the rules outlined above then they have the authority to revoke your membership. It should be noted that except in an extreme, and unlikely incident, that decision will be final.
  • Approval By Members: All future members to [RIP] will undergo a brief probationary period during which they will not have access to our guild member area of the forums or the guild's mule account. During which time they will be voted on by current members to approve or disapprove them for full membership. They must receive at least five favorable votes by current members and one favorable vote in addition for each negative one. Thus a person who received two negative votes will need seven other members to vouche for them. If that member receives three negative votes then they will be rejected for membership. Once the probationary period is completed the new member will be granted full access to the forums, the ability to vote on new members and any other guild related decisions. This may seem difficult, but I assure it isn't and has helped maintain the guild's community one where you enjoy playing with everyone else in the guild.
Benefits of Full Membership
  • Full member has access to Members Fourm.
  • Full member has access to the Guild Mule and free to take/donate any items/greens.
  • Full member has right to vote on all guild decisions.
  • Full member will have be able to have an active part in deciding if newly added members are deemed a good fit for the guild.
Assuming that you've survived reading through all that, feel that these ideals match your own and are interested in joining please let us know by registering on our forums and telling us a little about yourself here.

Sincerely,

Extreme Ectasy/Tiger
