Default [OOPS] is adding to our collective social entropy (and ice cream)

Greetings people of Guru,

I'm here representing the Order of Pointed Sticks [OOPS] a very social guild that plays a lot of PvE and pretends that we're good at it. We began as a guild of family members, and even though we've grown a bit from our original size, we strive to keep that same atmosphere (to know what I mean by same atmosphere, one must first understand how crazy weird and fun this particular family is, characterized in real life by having silly hat parties and things of that sort) and get to know each member not just on a superficial basis, but as people who we know and care about.

So, you ask, what are some characteristics of these OOPS rascals? Well, let me enlighten you in bullet points (I thought about putting in a bad joke about bullet-proof armour here but.....maybe I shouldn't scare you away until after you've read through this post). Ideally, OOPS members:
  • don't take the game too seriously. It's a game. If you're not having fun, it's not worth playing. If the party wipes in a mission but we all had a good time, it was a success! And if you can't spend much time online because you have a real life, that's fine, we all have real lives too. As long as we have fun together when we log on.
  • have a certain level of maturity. There are things that are appropriate, and things that are not. We don't appreciate elitism, insults, outbursts of anger, or anything else that makes things less fun. We're a community that cares about each other, and even though sometimes there are misunderstandings, we expect that our members can deal with conflict and stress calmly without overreacting. We also expect that you will have respect for all other players, not just guild members. We were all PUGs once.
  • are very silly. Our sense of humour is very strongly based in randomness, and you might find yourself very confused until you come to terms with the fact that it's the fault of the Messenger Lemurs who found the location of the Holy Pointed Stick one day, but forgot it because of the shininess of the guild hall and henceforth we have been missing our secret flavour of ice cream.
  • are very social. We have some shy members, but generally you won't get much out of the guild if you're a recluse. We exist firstly to hang out and cause mayhem together, and secondly to stampede through whichever mission or quest anyone is working on. Because, let's face it, Guild Wars is a whole lot more fun when you're playing with crazy friends!
  • are helpful. See the above point. Helping out guild members gives us a chance to hang out together, which we love to do (unless it's Gate of Madness which may require bribes of cookies)
  • have good communication skills. Please, no leet speak or incomprehensible short forms. While spelling and grammar don't have to be perfect, it's not nice if you butcher your sentences because you can't take the time to type a couple extra letters. Granted, there is a lot more to communication than how you type. A big part of working well in a team is being able to express yourself clearly, but also being able to listen well, since communication is always two-way.
  • are creative. This isn't a requirement or anything like that, but the events that we run tend to run a gamut of creative styles, ranging from poetry to drama to crafts. And sometimes I accidentally let people die because I was knitting while monking.....but that's what Death Pact Signet is for *grins*

In terms of other miscellaneous information, we're Kurzick, mostly found living in North America, we have a hall and accoutrements for it, a stylish cape, an insanely awesome alliance (emphasis on the insane part), an alliance TS server (which is handy, but not required if you're not a fan of voice chat), our membership is at 34 but only about 10-15 of us log on every day or so which we don't mind since it keeps our small-guild atmosphere.

Edit: Since we've had so many replies, I just thought I'd clarify a few things here. We're not an elite PvE guild, so don't come here expecting to do lots of HM, Vanquishing, DoA, etc. We attempt these things sometimes, and sometimes succeed, but we're not by any means good at them, and we find ourselves very much surpised on those occasions where we do succeed. Our events are more of a social nature, since we're very much a social guild. Also, if you don't have the patience to go through the application process, it's better for you to move on to a different guild right now. At this point, we've had quite a few applicants and we might ask you to be patient while we finish up with their applications first. Might range from a day to a week, depending on how busy our officers are. I'm wary of adding too many people too quickly, so we might also decide to close recruiting for a bit. Lastly, take note that after playing/questing with you, we'll put you through the interview of DOOM! Well, maybe not of doom, but be prepared to answer questions about yourself, and a slew of other random things.

Have you managed to read through all of that, and you're still interested? Ok, heres the next step! First, take some time to talk to some OOPSers in-game and play through a mission or quest or two or three with us. This isn't meant to make your life difficult, but rather to make it easier by keeping you from ending up in a guild that isn't just right for you. Take the time to get to know us, and let us get to know you a bit. If you haven't been scared away after that, all that's left is filling out a short little application, but we'll get to that when and if we need to. So here are some of the rascals and rogues you can talk to and drag around Tyria, Cantha or Elona on some adventures!

Arzu Ashurbeyli (yay, that's me!)
Tegid Teles (voted most handsome male mesmer)
Si Nik (defender of this thing called PvP that so many of us are foreign to)
Alaya the Assiduous (supplier of ice cream and cookies and snacks)
The Artful Nudger (scholar of the lore of the Holy Pointed Stick whilst packing a skillbar that uses Vengeance)
Rogan of Ebertoni (official nuker of the B/P team)
Quiet Talen (The force is strong with this one)
Hazor Organa (Second incarnation of Hazor of Legend)
