He could no longer feel his toes. The Shiverpeaks was a realm of freezing cold and sharp winds that shook you to your knees with every breeze. The dwarves could handle it on part of their thicker skin, but Garmin could barely handle it. He didn’t know how by the Five they were going to make it to Kryta. On the first night he had heard some men mutter, over a cold bowl of moa stew, that it was a good three week journey.

Three weeks of the cold, of the shivering nights, of constantly looking over your shoulder in fear of the stampeding centaurs. First day out here he saw poor Henrick chopped off with an axe to the neck. Didn’t even hear where the centaur had come from. It wasn’t even snowing. He just fell over pissing himself, thinking it was the end. No way was he was getting out of this alive, he had thought to himself. Then the beast was filled with arrows, he got to live another day, and all it cost him was a new pair of pants.

“Why did I even leave?” Garmin pulled his coat tighter over him. It didn’t help much with the cold. He wiped away at some of the hardened snot. That wouldn’t do much good either – his nose being so runny, more will freeze up in a minute tops.

They were going up a hill, and he heard someone at the top yell something at someone down below. The wind was blowing so hard it was impossible to make out anything. Just a bunch of gibberish for all the good it did anybody. Then he heard hooves crushing snow beneath them. He turned around; lip shaking more from fear than the cold. With wide eyes he saw he saw the beast, the centaur charging, screaming some sort of twisted battle cry. It had an axe raised. Everyone around him was running for their lives. Garmin couldn’t even move. His strength had left him. For all he knew, he never had any to begin with.

“Oh gods.”

He was dead; this was the end to be sure. The closest soldier was on the top of the hill. Even without the snow to slow him down, there was no way he would make it. He was dead. Best make his peace with Grenth now. Maybe the god would look on him with pity. No wait; he was also the god of cold. No warmth within him whatsoever. He was worse than a dead man – damned.

Garmin closed his eyes. Last thing he wanted to see was the axe to come down on him, like Henrick did. He took a breath and waited for the axe…

The axe hit steel. There was a grunt. Garmin opened his eyes, and all he could see was the back of a black furred cloak. Stitched to it was a brazen; a red lion on a golden field. The man pushed the centaur back with his shield, and the creature nearly toppled over. It swung at him again, but he blocked it easily enough and lunged with his sword. It went into the creature’s belly and when the man pulled out his sword the blood and guts stained the snow. The man hunched over and was breathing hard. When he turned, Garmin saw a man no more looking a hero than his uncle Bertrand. He had an uneven mane of a beard, and he had pox scars all over him. The armor was too big for him, and the shield too small, and the cloak almost looked to swallow him alive.

“Who are you?” Garmin had not a clue why he asked it. He should have been groveling on the snow thanking the man. Or checking his breeches for piss.

“Just know that I am of the Legion. And we protect the realm.” After he wiped the blood off of his sword in the snow he sheathed it, threw the shield over his back and walked up the hill.

The Legion dates back to World of Warcraft, where it was known as The Crimson Verdict, a vigilante guild. It was a guild that found its place on the Wyrmrest Accord server via it’s high emphasis on an interactive narrative where the choices of the members had consequences that highly influenced the story. The Legion will adhear to this philosophy, and take it to the next level. With Guild Wars 2 on the horizon, when you join the Legion your characters’ actions will not only influence your descendants, but also the Guild Wars 2 Legion, giving rise to future storylines for the next guild.

As we are currently in our Guild Wars 1 phase, and also taking into account the fact that many roleplayers have left Guild Wars as they wait for the sequel, most of our events will focus on the mission events. We will roleplay through each of the campaigns in chronological order, mixing the Missions with personally crafted narratives.

In terms of gameplay, we are naturally putting an emphasis on unlocking HoM points, but do remember that we do this at a comfortable pace and do not put this in front of the roleplay. Roleplay is why we have made this guild, and you can expect weekly roleplay events as well as gameplay events. There will always something to do in the Legion!
