Welcome to the wacky world of MMO's. The idea of a petition is futile, as would the enactment of petitioning against a mission requireing player interaction be entertaining futility. Removal of difficulty due to lack of players in your guild to do the actual asscention would defeat the purpose of the mission.
Perhaps this is your first MMO, but nevertheless, someone would need to educate you in the values of what an MMO is. It is a social game, perhaps you would consider aiding your fellow man in attaining your level of prowess, or perhaps more logically and greedily; you could pursue your own vendetta just as you have with this thread... ie. go find another guild and stop trying to tone the game to your level.
k thx

Ascension is the only way to filter out idiots going into high-end content, where idiots will kill groups. They'll either be converted to non-idiots, or they'll get frustrated and leave or start an alt. But somehow, some slip through the cracks and they'll continue on with the game....I hate to say it, but I'm guilty of aiding this crack-slipping. I helped a guildie do Thirsty River, and we were grouped with a couple idiots who barely listened to anything we said...I feel so dirty...so very, very dirty...

Heh, it took me more attempts to beat Riverside (six) than it did to beat all of the Ascension missions combined (five). Find a group that is balanced and can focus fire and you should be fine. It's even possible to do the missions with only one healer (as I did Elona and Dunes). Just keep your spirits up and keep trying.

I didn't realize that River was so hard. I did it my first try with a pickup group, never played with any of the players before. Our party had an expericed leader and everyone listened. I was the monk, and the group had been looking for one for a while. Its nice to play a character that is in so much demand.

i had a little bit of trouble with elona mission, but the other two are very simple, and that is just silly to try and get the game made easier because you arent trying hard enough to complete it

The missions are easy....like really easy.

THis thread is a joke. If you cant do the ascension missions than you either a) have no patience b) dont take the time to research the missions c) want everything handed to you on a platter.

I did all of them last night with PUG's. All it took was researching each mission, calling targets, and avoiding unneccesary fights.

Ascension is terrific - it helps prevent poor players from making it to the end-game content. I'm sorry, but poor players don't belong past Ascension and it makes my life a hell of a lot easier as a healer when players have a clue.

and they are actually easier than some of the ones that come after

ring of fire and thunderhead keep are harder by my estimates...hard and very, very long...mega time suckage

these missions are very, very frustrating...if designers are trying to frustrate casual gamers they are succeeding

this is most certainly true. however there are a lot of players who's ability is definatly lacking. a more positive note on ascension is the ideal that these players may take on the endeavor to cultivate their skills.

furthermore, even elite players will find reason to question their method. i myself am playing a N/Me18; in the effort to improve my performance, i have come up with new patterns and timings that make significant improvement. ie. I can duo with the henchmen monk from bergen to do Villany of Galrath without need for any other players. (combo using strictly death skills, and merely 1 curse skill to slow enemy movement, and dissimilate the inability of the necro - death skills short comings in dealing with undead).

as a consequence of reading these forums, specifically this thread, im noticing that the majority of posters are very negative opinion. i question the idea of any positivity existing when players encounter an obsticle.

the statement that designers are attempting to cause some sort of negative reaction is self defeating. why would a designer wish to destroy the experience of the player?

the only plausable conclusion is the simplest one. what game genre are you currently involved in when participating in the guildwars world? a massively "multiplayer" online game. the optimistic approach is that maybe, the individuals resorting to frustration and irrational assertiveness on their positions is just due to the fact that this is the first time any of them have made an effort to play any sort of game in their life.

this game requires a lot of human interaction friends. perhaps you need to reevaluate your ability to be cohesive in this enviroment and stop attacking the designers of a sheerly revolutionary game.

The problem is, some people simply don't want a game that can create a challenge. The original poster is one of those. While some players are willing to take a break and think about what went right and what went wrong, others are going to go straight to the forums to complain. You see this often about PvP aspects of various games as well, with nerf calls and such. Plus, the anonymity of the internet doesn't help alot.

Besides, the rest of this game is easy enough (Missions were easy for me up til about The Wilds, and even then, it was because I wasn't using henchmen properly. In fact, the only time I really needed a party of humans was when doing Riverside). I'm just glad there's difficult end game areas and missions. I was worried the game would remain easy, and I'd just get bored and leave. :|

No one is "elite", that is a retarded term thought by people who aren't good at anything in real life so they put down on those who don't know as much in games to make themselves feel better. And yes even most of them can't complete these missions

are u serious, a petition?

The trial where you have to beat the different priests before they res was probably the hardest. I think this is the river one? Anyways, get a ranger and before the ghost opens the gate on the 2nd and 3rd parts, have the ranger lob arrows and kill as many bad guys as you can before you have the ghost open the gate. Then, open the gate, run in and kill the henches, kill the priest, then kill the boss. Do this and you should make it.

One big trick is the ranger pulling the enemy henchs close enough to kill them. You should be able to do it with this tactic. And you CAN hit them, watch them, they will move and eventually get within arrows reach. Once you hit them they will rush to the fence and a ele or necro can work them down. They will not respawn because you have not opened the door yet.

I didn't have a problem withe priests, as long as you killed them in the right order. Found out it's bad start out on the left one first in the 3rd area. Other than that River was pretty easy and got some nice skills out there. Hardest one for me was Elona purely based on teh fact that there would always be someone that wouldn't listena nd run off splitting up the group. It's actually very simple and can be completed in like 6 minutes if you do it right, including the bonus. In dunes, it's easy if you kill the worms right away. If you don't kill the worms, for some reason all the generals come out at once and swamp you. Not sure why. WHen I did it a second time and killed the worms I didn't even see teh generals so ??

Arent you the guy who's made other whiny threads complaining about the difficulty?? I suggest you find another game, this game is easy. Seriously, of all the MMO's I've played this is by far the easiest and most player friendly. Just leave already and quit your crying.

I think the levels should be harder. The way it is now, everyone gets to ascend in time. It's still good though because although the skill required to pass these level is low, it still sets some kind of a standard. I would like to see the less skilled players get stuck forever. But i have no complaints since in pvp, people with little skills will be stuck losing forever. =)

Well I guess its all about luck. I tried thirsty river many times but you can guess I failed them all. But with luck, I met a good group we beat the mission withouta single person died. Its all about the group, look for a experienced leader and listen to that leader. The acension mission is truely where cooperation and skills are required. So the acension missions are the barier seperates the team-players and the non-team player.

my experience was probably different from most people, for all those times i went to elona with experienced player and healers, my team died and failed, and when i beat it, we had no healer on the team, and everyone was doing it for first time except me, no one was lvl 20 either. we kinda just killed, move forward a bit, killed, move, grab crystal, drop crystal, kill, kill, etc. for dune, it wasnt as easy as i thought, kuz i teamed up with absolutely morons. at the last part where we had to defend the hero for 10 minute, 4 out of 5 members ran off and tried to kill the seige worms, and they all died, so basically it was just me and a monk hench guarding the hero, and i almost died kuz of the add up of the monsters that try to kill the hero. as for river it was actually really easy. since u can snipe mobs before the match begin, my team killed most of the mobs out side, and we just kinda went in to kill the 3 priests and done.
