Hello,

On my third char I've noticed there's recently been a number of people attempting to sell Althea's Ashes in Piken's Square. Now, as far as I know, when you attempt the quest, you can click on the urn and get as many ashes as you can click. For example, I got 316 of them just to see if it would stop.

Now there are people selling these ashes in Pikens. I have no idea whether the person buying them completes the quest. I spoke to two people who I offered to give my ashes to free of charge simply to see if it worked. They assured me it did, though I did not give them my ashes, so I dumped the rest of mine in an instance. I also submitted a bug report.

The problem seems to be that there are a lot of people that populate Pikens that still claim they've bought the ashes and that it works for them. Does anyone know definitively if this is the case?

Ya, I think the glittering stuff works and I do agree it's very lame that Anet allows the quest to be completed just by getting the glittering stuff off someone else.

OTOH, selling the urn, which for some ppl does not disappear, won't work.

I've only gotten the urn once, a month ago. My other chars and the people in my guild except one person has gotten ashes. Perhaps that is part of the confusion.
