How in the world do I beat my Doppleganger? Here are my 4 class set ups. What skills should I take in with me?

1. Ele/Mes
Dom - 8
Insperation - 3
Fire - 12
Energy Storage 9

2. Nec/Mes
Illusion - 5
Blood - 4
Curses - 5

3. Mes/Nec
Fast Casting - 5
Illusion - 5
Dom - 4
Blood - 2
Curses - 3

4. Mo/R
Healing Prayers - 11
Smiting Prayers - 5
Divine Favor - 11

1. Ele/Mes
2 choices here off the top of my head:
Fire sustained AoE's and your mirror will stay inside the AoE, while you can step out.
Worthless hexes like Blurred Vision and Rust (which can be useful at times, but not in this situation), useless enchantments, Hex Breaker, Shatter Hex, Shatter Enchantment, and Backfire. Careful on the Shatter Enchantment: The Divine Fire effect you get for walking through that circle counts as an enchantment, so first thing that will happen is your mirror will shatter you.

2. Nec/Mes
Defile Flesh, Enfeebling Blood, Blood Renewal, Shatter Enchantment, Shatter Hex, Hex Breaker. All you need. Domination is the only attribute you need to worry about.

3. Mes/Nec
See above ^^^

4. Mo/R
Long casting nature rituals will slow him down, Healing Breeze isn't used by the doppleganger for some reason, and use smites for the rest. Some people get by with just Bane Signet and Healing Breeze.

For all your primary or secondary mesmers equip backfire and only useless spells with small casting time. Raise your domination to 12 (you'll get enough experience when you beat it to get back those attribute points) and cast backfire as soon as the battle starts. Then just hit him with your weapon and watch him die from backfire.

ok, i have an ele/mes level 20...i have tried several times to kill my mirror with no luck i might add...my question is this, if she is a mirror of me with the same skills amd weapon, why does she kill me with no skills equipped and also she uses a bow at a distance and an axe up close...both weapons i never have used. also i killed her 8 times and we died at the same time, the message came up to check my updated q log where it said mission completed, but at the same time it said i was defeated return to outpost... is this a bug or something..i took a screenshot.

I killed my dopple in 2 trys. First one I almost killed it but I used to much of one of my sacrifice skills and not enough leech. Second time through I killed him with 3 leech, 2 sacrifice, and 2 more leech. I had about 20 health left when I killed him.

She isn't. Your doppleganger mirrors you, but does not in any way at all mirror your equipment. The doppleganger has its own weapons and armor.

In at least two cases, I beat my doppleganger by tailoring my skills around the fact that my doppleganger uses different weapons than I. There are skills that require specific weapons, specific weapon upgrades, or defend against certain types of weapons but not others. For example, there are stances that deflect arrows but not magical projectiles from wands/staves. If you whip out a staff while your doppleganger whips out a bow, then you both use the stance, guess who wins?

my character is a necro/ele and i think that the key to beat him (after 5 shots) was to know my skills, what they do and the time they need to recharge. moving a lot is also another important thing in the process.

in fact, beating the mirror is really quick, maybe one minute or less. so you have to know the skills you have, how long you need to cast them and what kind of effects you want to create.

as an exemple, you cannot start the challenge by casting a firestorm and then trying to use some skill like "life siphon"...it would take too much time to cast and the mirror has the time to kill you twice before you cast these 2 skills.

also remember that the mirror has the same skills as you and he usually uses the same combo of skills each time. so if you know that he starts with a firestorm, you know that this let you 5 seconds to cast him 2 quick spells and to move out before the firestorm falls on your head. and so on..

so, know "what" your character is and keeping moving will give you a quick victory !!

Killing a doppleganger mesmar is easy. Just use backfire and take all useless spells...mantra/ or attuments and just attack regularly. He will cast all that junk and kill himself. It is super easy with backfire.
