Default Ascalon Stragglers (Very frustrated)

Now I have tried countless (At least 30) times to do this mission and each time I have failed horribly. Now maybe it has to do with how my approach is so maybe you wise people can offer another solution. I leave Yak's Bend and travel the shortest route to where the green star is. I waste little time clearing the map of anything and try and go around battles I can avoid for the simple fact that EVERY TIME I GET THERE... Ice elementals have KILLED EVERYONE!

So ok, decided to change stratagy... took the nearby portal that is the road back to Ascalon. Returned through back into the area to run into two monsters which I had to kill, got around to the group every time to find them alive... BUT!!! Regardless of how quickly I attacked the one attacking them, they always get killed before it is over. The woman won't even talk to me in battle, I tried that. And it does not matter if anyone survives as long as she is dead, the mission is a fail. I even had it at one point where I had everything killed, she was alive and then falls over dead. wtf?

Anyway... tried everything and I might add with hench men. Should maybe joining with a group of people, have some run on ahead from the closest portal to fight while others kill off the encountered enemies? Its the only thing I have not done.

I have always done this quest with henchmen. But then again, I kill everything till I reach them and normally get to the lady with no enemies around. Sometimes after talking to her, some dwarves/ice elementals show up...and they say "here they come again...please protect us" or something like that. But it's not too difficult to handle...then it's just peace and quiet as they travel back.

I do believe you have to kill everything up to them otherwise they might get killed on the way back.

With my first 2 characters i almost 'accidentally' finished the quest [as in, who's this? oh want to get back to town..ok..]. Now with my 3rd character i've failed it twice already too. I could swear something happened in that area relating to Ettins [which i never noticed there before] and Ice Golems doing more damage [either that or my henchmen got weaker]. So , yes first time i got there they were all dead [ i mean i had 4 ettins on my back, no way i could save them from the Ice Golem group on top of them as well], second time well i felt i totally wiped that golem group but when i started feeling good i saw the entire straggler group were dead! ...oh well maybe i've just played too many times :P

Maybe they added more enemies to stop chest farming, not that I'm aware of any farming around there.

I know for a fact the area outside Seeker's Passage is now full of monsters...

This quest is quite easy ... if you use the zone boundary, that is just a little walk behind the quest NPCs (just continue going in the direction you came from Yak's Bend. Just zone out and back in and you should be able to save them even with henchmen.

Wouldn't that just respawn the entire map , so even if you do save them from the initial group, now you need to keep them alive through hordes of Ettins+Golems+Stone-enchant-removing-b.. ? :P [Although maybe all those ettins will be gone now since i cleared the pass...who knows]

No when you zone back, just kill the monsters, that threaten them, but don't talk with her yet. Clear the way to Yak's Bend and return for them and escort.

I'm not sure whether you need to talk with them or they join you automagically, but it's easier to keep them alive if you have them with you.

I don't see what the fuss is here, everyone wants to get a group of 6 and head out for this. I just took all the henchmen and beat it my first try. It is very easy for a Warrior. Many, though, want to do nothing but this mission, so I wond up having to do it 7 times in one day just so I could get people to do other quests with me.

I got to the point where I started saying that I charge 62k per Ascalon Stragglers quest

THe trick is to go on the SW part from Yaks Bend, thus coming from behind.
When I take this route, no enemies is even NEAR them when I reach them.
