Default Henching Thirsty River

I failed. Each time is the same result. I clear the first mob. I attack the second mob. The timer hits 1:30 and I target the priest. Every single time I target the priest the henchmen rush over to the boss and start attacking it. Over and over I frantically call the priest as the target and over and over the henchmen flat out refuse to attack the priest. They just keep attacking the boss. The timer hits 2 minutes, more monsters spawn, party wipe.

I'm confused. Why won't the henchmen attack the priest? They seem dead set at going after the boss each time. I can never even get past the first area because they simply won't attack priest and I can't clear out every monster in time to leave the priest all alone to attack.

So kill the priest on your own. That's what I did when I completed Thirsty River with henchies. Most of the time, the ghostly hero will listen to your call and attack the priest.

Probably not possible then. Thirsty River requires lots of firepower. A monk with smite skills might be able to get through...though the last boss/priest would still be a challenge.

As a Healing Monk - you'd have your pick of teams. I'm a R/Mo but have low attributes for Mo skills.

I have FAILED, Thirsty River 22 Times, and FAILED Elona Reach 26 Times.

I stand around asking for hours for a group, and when I get, they are n00bs.

All I wanna do is ascend and finish the game - I've heard quite a few people saying they have. But none of them help others.

I'm only an everage player, I lack the skill to these missions without an expert team - but I can't get one.

Yes, if you see me ingame, it would appear I'm in a guild. But I'm the only member. Having spent 3 weeks trying to get a good guild, I gave up and made my own. But no-one wanted to join. So I am left alone.

You think you got problems - NO-ONE WANTS TO KNOW ME.

Wow. I'd be willing to help you with both of those (although I can't ensure a success). My monk was lucky enough to find a good group for both of those and beat each on the first try. I'm just an oddball that was trying to do Thirsty River as a healing monk with henchmen just for the heck of it. I guess it might be an impossible dream.

It took me FOREVER to finish Thirsty River, but what region are you playing in? If it's European, I can' help you. If's it's American, give me a shout if I"m online. I'm more than willing to help you.

You need to get a decent team together to run Thirsty River. And you need ONE person calling targets. And EVERYONE attacking that called target. And ONE person saying when to start in on the next group.

I'm helping my hubby through Thirsty River, and our team did just fine last until we got to the last one. Jossa is a monk boss and he keeps healing the priest. And the priest keeps healing Jossa. We managed to reach the end 3 TIMES and couldn't kill finish it.

So, if you're in the american region Tkonian, whisper me and maybe I can help you.

Like I said - I'm only an average player. I lack the skill to work alone - I need support.

Granted, I did all the Ascalon Mission's and Gate of Kryta with Henchmen. And when I go out into the areas, I take henchmen. But ALL the Jungle, ALL the Shiverpeak, 2/3 Kyrta and the 2 after Henge of Denravi, I have NEEDED human players.

It's a shame that those good at game, leaves the less fortunate to struggle.

I bet the Koreans have good teamplay - afterall, they seem to have the HoH and Favor MOST of the time.

This IS the best game I have ever played - be a shame if I'm forced to quit due lack of support from better players.

Ah that's the problem. Competent players. If you're a small guild (like mine) quite often it's a crap shoot when spamming for players. People refuse to take direction or all want to call target when that only splits the damage. Or they want to do it their way. Which doesn't always work. Or they decide it's not going well and they leave the party part way through. In the end it's not that the missions are impossible.

It's simply the missions require teamwork skills that are sadly lacking.

Well... i come to the conclusion people actually don't want help on this. My guild has been at that place for quite a few times now while helping a lowlevel guildmate through. We'd always allow a few other people in from those missions.
But all those people go totally moo when they see our guildmate is lower then 20. They get all bitchy and leave the team right away. So what the **** is the problem? Yes, he is lower then 20... yes he is lower then level 10. So what? Here we are, helping others through and all we get for that is flames and bitching. The few people who did not leave right away said afterwards "Geez, dunno understand why this mission used to be so hard... it looked so easy now".

But it is peoples elitist attitude that is ruining those missions. Be willed to accept some obvious handicaps and you might be surprised by how easy those missions can be. But currently, all those people can do is bitch and moan. Someone does not have the "uber leet skillset" - they get flamy. Someone does not have the "uber armor" - they get flamy. Someone does not have the "uber level" - they got REAL bitchy.

To be honest Feli - I couldn't care less what level a player is. If a group of Levels 1's could get me through, I'd happily join them.

I never run on, I never quit, If a target is called I always attack. I stop when told. I wait when told, this game is about team's. I'm not good enough to run my own, so I follow my leader's instructions as closely as possible.

It's just I don't get the chance to prove myself. I get teams of n00bs that get killed, or overwhelmed.

I made my own guild cos no-one wanted me. Even saved money and got a guild hall. But no-one wants to join me either.

So, I have players that don't want to help me, Henchmen that can't help me (too weak and thick), and no guild to call on for support.

It's a wonder I'm still playing.

I'm going to get the Collector's edition. Will probably have to make a char on second account to hold guild, so I can try again to join a good one.

After putting 60plat into guild - don't want to just disband.

Anyway - if you see a Tkar, Tker, Tkir or Tkor Zhollarian in your travels - say Hi - It's me. Who know's, maybe one day, I'll even manage to ascend.

I will look for you online. Our guild has a couple of people that are going through the ascension trials right now. I will see if I can get you in one of our groups.

Edit: that is if you are on the American Servers.

Sorry what I meant to say was that if you are in game around the same time. The 6 hour time difference is more of a problem than which server you are on. Only edited that when I saw England under the name.

All of the Ascension missions teach you that you need teamwork to get through it. The missions aren't difficult if you have a competent leader (#1) and people willing to listen (#2). PUG's and non-friendly guilds all have their own agenda and a large percentage are unwilling to subserviate their needs for the needs of others or for the group as a whole.

I've been lucky to have a good guild help run me through and once my monk ascends, I do plan on going back and helping out in the trouble areas since I've noticed that once people finish a mission they don't run back and help others through it. (again personal agenda's)

In the middle missions (maguma & Kryta) I can usually form my own groups and pick up the needed pieces. But for the desert and beyond it's tough and it shows. THe only suggestion I would make is to actually make some friends in the earlier missions and have them on your friends list. Friends do actually head the call for assistance. I've helped a few times as well in the same manner.

Good Luck and Good Hunting!

PS if a certain mission is still bothersome, ping me in the game I might offer some sage advice or my sword or maybe even my healing.

Well I finally finished Thirsty River after quite a few tries, and I definitely attribute my success and previous failures to the groups I joined with. It makes a huge difference when everyone works together, targets the same creatures, and is on the same page with regard to strategy.

I usually do missions multiple times helping friends through them so anytime I'm online and someone needs an extra warrior for a group just pm me and I'll be happy to join if I'm available. IGN Valmont Vascheron

The henchmen will attack the priest if you call your target (left CTRL + space) as the priest - this has worked for me anyway. I was able to do Thirsty River with henchies and I have posted my general strategy in the other thread.

This is why I was confused. I kept doing this and they refused to attack the priest for me. They would attack the boss instead for some reason.
