Default Althea's Ashes?

So, while it angers me that people would rather buy her ashes, as opposed to actually doing the quest, it still makes me curious... if you buy the ashes (the real ashes, not glittering dust because someone ripped you off) can you finish the quest? I sincerely hope not... While it's a hard quest, I find it's hard quests and missions that are the most fun.

I've done althea's ashes on all 4 of my pve chars and tbh it's a pain to do after the first couple of times.

Yes, It works if you buy the ashes, you just need the urn with you.

I don't like that one bit... Takes away from game play. On the other hand, if you can't successfully complete Ashes, it takes away from it all too.

what confuses me is how people are constantly getting these ashes? I did the mission twice now and only once had left over ashes. And apparently the trick to get it to work is have the urn, the ashes, then step into flame temple corridor and it completes the mission. Now for me, I love nothing better then going into flame temple corridor and teaching those masses of Charr just who the real bad ass is and killing every last one of them. My E/Mo kills them in 1-2 hits of fire magic so I go there a lot for charr hides and help people who IMO are really playing the game, not buying items to complete missions... to me thats worse then being run to droknar for armor because again... IMO having good armor early on does not ruin the rest of the game as long as you go back.

yup pretty much! I solo there all the time, not that any of the drops are outstanding, but hides and such make good crafting materials. for those that need furs, 4 charr hides =1 fur.

for hydra's I farm mahgo hydras outside ember camp

switch out bonetti's for balanced stance and put a couple points in tactics to make it last longer and you can take on every hydra there

watch out for flesh golems though, disenchant is a mofo

I try not to take on more then 3-4 at a time, for simple reason I want them all to hit me with their meteor, then while they swarm around, I heal then cast inferno and meteor shower to finish them all off with. Any more at a time then that your being knocked down to much.
