Default The LBS loot share system

EDIT: Here is the LBS loot share system for green farming - Party is comprised of 6 people, a primary warrior, monk, ele, ranger, necro, and mesmer. They clear the bosses in Grenth's footprint and then all of them inside sorrow's furnace 3 times in the space of a couple of hours. All green items that fall are given to the person in the group of that primary profession. Mesmer green items are given to the group's mesmer, regardless of who it was originally assigned to. Necro items go to the necro, warrior items to the warrior, and so on.

Everyone in the party places a 15 ecto deposit with the party leader (obviously must be someone of impeccible integrity who everyone can trust). They forfeit their ecto deposit if they refuse to give an item to the person they are supposed to give it to. After 3 full runs, each profession is likely to have 2 or 3 green items from bosses of their profession. The deposits are returned at the end to everyone who played by the rules, but the warrior only gets 6 ecto back and the monk only gets 12 ecto back, and everyone else gets 18 ecto back (so 10 of the warrior's ecto are "paid" to the rest of the party because his drops are deemed quite valuable by the market, and 5 of the monk's ectos are distributed to the other members of the party because some of her potential drops are also quite valuable in the market. Essentially, the warrior gave 2 of his ecto to every other person, including the monk, and the monk gave 1 of her ecto to every other person, including the warrior.)

In essence, everyone has given security that they will play by the rules, and in the end they get everything back, except the warrior has "paid" around 72K for a pretty great shot at getting 1 or 2 items that will be valued at around 150K or more by the market and another green item that won't be valued as well (maybe a hammer or common shield). The monk has essentially paid everyone else 24K to come along and have a pretty great shot at getting 1 or 2 items valued at around 50K by the market and another green item that won't prove as valuable. Everyone else gets paid around 24K for a great shot at finding 2 or 3 items that will be of use to their primiary profession, or sold on the market, but not for that much money.

So, if anyone wants to farm with me for green items, I've decided that this is how I am going to do it (first time I have ever considered farming for something in my life): I will assemble a party of six people, one from each primary profession in the game, and we will clear the bosses of grenth's footprint and sorrow's furnace. Here's the only catch: if a green item falls, you have to give it to the person who is of that profession. The willcrusher goes to the mesmer primary in the group, the monk gets that yakslapper, the tank picks up that sword or axe if it falls. If someone drops out, and the item was for his or her profession, we will just let it stay with the person it was "assigned" to. Anybody like this idea? Anybody hate it? Anybody want to come with me on my first ever farming expedition in all my time playing Guild Wars? I'll probably do it this weekend.

The players can then trade stuff or sell it in town or whatever, but the original assignment is for the class you brought into the furnace, so if you want something specific, you better bring that profession to join the group doing a 6-person LBS loot share.

I see one major flaw to this loot system. A lot of players farm for gold value of items. Necro and Mesmer items have little value at the moment (you will see people trying to sell them for ages.) However a few specific items have heavily inflated values. Tanzit's Razorstone is one of these, people go absolutely nuts over this item. The items with value tend to all be Warrior and Monk items (with a few fire ele items.) Necro and mesmer items are hard to give away (I know I go around buying them up for 1-2k each.) So people who play Warrior or Monk will be making out like bandits on that deal while other classes will tend to be screwed over.

This system works nicely for the lesser value items, but once you factor in those expensive ones it doesn't work so hot.

Secondly, what about dual professions? A Me/N can use both necro and mesmer builds. A lot of players run N/W with a sword. I occasionally run a Mark of Pain/Barbs+Marksmanship build on my N/R.

Probably the biggest issue will be who gets an item if multiple people are on. I guarantee you every monk will want it when "The Yakslapper" drops (another item that fetches a big market price.)

I got a razorstone yesterday.

Since i already own a yakslapper, i'm afraid i must bug out but it's a nice idea.

Imagine trying this suggestion in a random PUG, lol. I can imagine a few people leaving after collecting an item...even worse, getting given an item and collecting another then leaving.

Good luck with your party!!

I think it's a great idea, I can bring my ranger along and hopefully I might actually get a drop (2 gold and nothing else dropped since the game came out). IGN Butch Daddy

I like it, when the update first pop'd I found myself in a great group of four that later became three and we cleaned up sharing the whole way. Those are the groups you live for the groups of light hearted and fun to play with people that make this game a pleasure to play. I must mention here that I had never before played with any of these individuals but you better believe that they made my friends list!

I will aid with my echo nuker skills if you do a run while I'm online.

The problem is that, from a value standpoint, this heavily favors the warriors since their green items sell on the open market >>>>>>> more than any of the other items. Being a tank myself, this would be a boon if you can convince a group to do this.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts so far. I think I would want to do it myself with my mesmer (trying to find a good willcrusher out there, if anyone has one let me know ), and I recognize that people might not share or play along. The appeal to me is that you are fairly sure you have a chance of getting something that you can actually use, and after clearing the bosses three times and getting every single green item that drops from bosses of your primary profession, lets say, the odds are actually quite good you will end up with something you'd like.

Maybe the solution to the problems brought up would be three-fold: (1) you make everyone promise that they are primarily looking for something for themselves, not for resale. (2) You require a deposit by everyone in advance, given to a highly trusted member of the party. If everyone gives the party leader 15 ecto to come along, but gets it back as long as they didn't log off with that valuable green axe or monk rod instead of giving it to the right person, then you don't have to worry about people ignoring the rules. They would forfeit a deposit of greater value than the green if they didn't play along. (3) Finally, maybe you could also require the warrior (and monk to a lesser degree) in the group to pay everyone else in the party for the right to participate in an LBS style loot share? The amount they have to pay would have to be fair in light of the probabilities of drops and market values of the items they might find, but maybe it could be something like this: the party agrees to go on three trips clearing all the bosses in grenth's footprint and sorrow's furnace. They will share loot LBS style (by primary profession). Everyone in the party places a 15 ecto deposit with the party leader (obviously must be someone of impeccible integrity who everyone can trust). After 3 full runs (which could take a couple of hours), each profession is likely to have 2 or 3 green items from bosses of their profession. Essentially, the warrior gave 2 of his ecto to every other person, including the monk, and the monk gave 1 of his ecto to every other person, including the warrior.)

That sounds complicated, but it makes perfect sense. In essence, everyone has given security that they will play by the rules, and in the end they get everything back, except the warrior who has "paid" around 72K for a pretty great shot at getting 1 or 2 items that will be valued at around 150K by the market and another green item that won't be valued as well (maybe a hammer or common shield). The monk has essentially paid everyone else 24K to come along and have a pretty great shot at getting 1 or 2 items valued at around 50K by the market and another green item not that won't prove as valuable. Everyone else gets paid around 24K for a great shot at finding 2 or 3 items that will be of use to their primiary profession, or sold on the market, but not for that much money.

I like it! Who still wants to come with us under the revised LBS loot share system?

I can be your Ele on occasion, if you'd like. I can run any type of ele you want, as I have all ele skills with the exception of a couple of elites. If Smiting You Elmo is your flavor, I can do that too.

We still need a necro and confirmation from a few people. Maddie the Mad may not be able to come after all, so I am still interested in potential healing and/or protection monks who want to come. Please be sure you have read the revised rules where everyone places a security deposit and the warriors (and to a lesser extent monks) pay the rest of the team a modest amount for the additional value the market places on items that drop for those professions.

Lets also try to figure out a good time that will work for everyone. I'd like to do this on Saturday, expect we should do 3 quick runs in about 3 hours (is that a fair guess of the amount of time required to kill the bosses both out front and inside the furnace?), so list times that work well for you on Saturday, too.

Looks like we have a necro, too. More people are free to sign up and maybe take their own group for an LBS style loot share or as replacements if someone in this group cannot make it, so keep jumping in if you are interested.

We will go from the international district 1 of the Deldrimor War Camp sometime on Saturday, but I will work my schedule around you guys. Thanks!

i'm up for some festivities in the furnace, but it seems like i saw the post a bit late and the team has filled up. you can sign me on as a possible replacement. if you need someone and you see me online, just send a whisper over.

i'm a bit hesitant to join up as a warrior, since i'm not sure about paying people for the chance to go farming with them. i'd be in it for the fun of working with good players, and not so much for the drops. so, if i can get my ranger ascended by saturday, you can count me in as a replacement ranger. oh, i also don't have 15 ectos. =)

if that doesn't work out, that's fine too.

If only I had 15 Ecto...this sounds great and would help me get the Necro items that nobody seems to have. Stupid 15k armor, if I had pyschic powers maybe I should have saved my money and waited for this.

Good luck on this, maybe us poor people can find a way to do this too.
