Default SF Droprate Investigation, Farming Strategies

I do not believe droprates depending on professions.
I farmed many many SF bosses and made a statistic, which Boss dropt what item for which profession. There is nothing to suggest That any class gets preferred treatment. Most of the time there are more Monks present MAKING IT LOOK like they get preferred treatment while in fact they don't

Over a course of 200 slain SF bosses I calculated that only ONE OUT OF FOUR drops a green item.

You have to kill each boss 4 times to get one item.
12 times if you want all three (suggestion an equal drop rate there as well, of which i have no way of prooving it is otherwise)
24 bosses times 12 is 288 bosskills, IF YOU ARE ALONE, which you are not.

So you have to multiply 288 by the number of group members. (Usually 4-5, which results in 1152-1440 Bosskills; Happy Hunting)

With a good team I can farm 24 bosses in 6 hours resulting in 280-360h of farming fun to complete the collection.

The current worth of an entire collection is 2483 Platinum (figure taken from this very forum).

Farming that ammount of money in the desert and just buying it is currently faster!

Expect prices to rise until the market has balanced this by either reducing the value of green items,or, more likely, raising them further.

According to my own measurements a single player has the following chances of getting a drop.

8 Man Team: 3,1% Chance of getting a drop.
7 Man Team: 3,57% Chance of getting a drop.
6 Man Team: 4,16% Chance of getting a drop.
5 Man Team: 5% Chance of getting a drop.
4 Man Team: 6,25% Chance of getting a drop.
3 Man Team: 8,3% Chance of getting a drop.
2 Man Team: 12,5% Chance of getting a drop.
1 Man Team: 25% Chance of getting a drop.

Over the course of my measurements I got VERY constant results; if you doubt them then please write down the Bosses YOUR group has slain and if they droped something or not, and WHAT DID THEY drop. I am happy to include them into my figures. Taking 200 measurements is good, 2000 are better. BUT PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THEM UP FROM MEMORY.

And to tell you which bosses are fat targets and who sucks, I made up the following list. The typical green item costs 26 platinum.
The number after the name indicates the average green item value of each boss.

Champions league Bosses only carry Items which are worth MORE than that.
Uefa Cup Bosses have ONE ITEM which is worth less, possible spoiling your drop.
Soldier of Fortune Bosses HAVE ONLY ONE ITEM that can be considered expensive.
The Scum carries only items of lesser value.

Champions League Bosses
Brohn Stoneheart 115
Bortac Bonesmelter 100
Rago Kindlerock 76
Tanzit Razorstone 72
Gordac Fleshweaver 57
Ivor Helmhewer 53
Graygore Boulderbeard 46
Grognar Gravelhead 43
Drago Stonehearder 41

Uefa Cup Bosses
Korvald Willcrusher 30
Gardock Stonesoul 22

Soldiers of Fortune
Tarnok Forgerunner 50
Malinon Threshammer 39

Scum
Runar Brimstone 15
Galigord Stonestrike 15
Vokur Grimshackles 13
Garbock Handsmasher 11
Villnar Painforge 11
Worth Yakslapper (GF) 8
Thorgall Bludgeonhammer (GF) 8
Morgriff Shadestone 7
Gargash Thornbeard (GF) 7
Gorrel Rockmolder (GF) 4
Flint Fleshcleaver (GF) 3

My advice it NEVER TO TOUCH GF bosses.
Aim for the Championsleague Bosses
After one of the Championsleague Bosses drops someting, go kill one or two Scumm Bosses. By that you increase your chances of getting the good bosses to drop someting again. (two green drops in a row are virtually not happening, one non-drop in between are TOO RARE to be counted, most of the time the figure is between 3 and 6.
8 Bosskills in a row without drops are very much possible too.

Just buy a four-sided dice and roll to learn about it yourself.

I think your stat list should read:
8 Man Team: 3,1% Chance of getting a drop.
7 Man Team: 3,57% Chance of getting a drop.
6 Man Team: 4,16% Chance of getting a drop.
5 Man Team: 5% Chance of getting a drop.
4 Man Team: 6,25% Chance of getting a drop.
3 Man Team: 8,3% Chance of getting a drop.
2 Man Team: 12,5% Chance of getting a drop.
1 Man Team: 25% Chance of getting a drop.

Just a thought.

Just wondering.

Do your stats take into consideration nerfage of drops from too much farming?

Monks: 10 - 15.87%
Rangers: 2 - 3.17%
Mesmers: 0 - 0.00%
Warriors: 7 - 11.11%

Party Composition
Total party members: 202 - 100.00%
Elementalists: 70 - 34.65%
Necromancers: 42 - 20.79%
Monks: 42 - 20.79%
Rangers: 15 - 7.43%
Mesmers: 3 - 1.49%
Warriors: 32 - 15.84%

So what does it mean? First off, I'm usually the only Warrior, and since my farming buddies refuse to take anyone else, I end up doing way too many runs and nothing else. So my drops were nerfed a bit. I usually go with an Elementalist friend or two who probably farm too much also...hence the slightly lower percentages for drops for them.

Necros tend to come and go, plus most of the ones I team with go farm other places too. Same with the Monks...however, it should be noted that sometimes I opted for an E/Mo instead of a Mo/X.

Rangers and Mesmers didn't come along enough, even though I spam for non-tanks quite a bit. Their data can't be taken as conclusive, as the numbers are far too small for them. So you can pretty much chuck them out the window.

~~~
Moral of the story? Don't farm in one place too often; otherwise drops are equal.
Yeah, thats about it.
