Wow, I have yet to *fail* to beat this one, it is the easiest of the Ascension missions! I've done it with monk, warrior, ranger and necromancer so far.

Are you just using henchies? If so, which ones?

What is your character profession/level?

Are you trying to do the bonus? If so, don't.

Really you just hang near the ghost and beat up each enemy group that comes to attack. You can ignore the siege worms until the enemies stop coming then can go kill some if desired.

Do not even try it with pugs if you dont want to turn a stupid mission in a nightmare. Lina, Alesia and 3 more henchies.

If you have enough firepower, just stay with the hero and kill enemies as they come close.

If you cannot kill enemies so quickly, in the second part of the siege (when skeletons come) is better to go toward them, because they stay for a while at the gates, and you can kill them separately. Ignore the wurms.

I usually end the mission with 3/4 minutes left, with henchmen.

Bingo!
The above is the way to do it
Make additional trips in to do the bonus Don't try it until after the mission has been completed.

Couple additional tips:
(BIG TIP!! Just because I'm N/R but it helps anyway!!)
Take a friendly Necro with enfeeble and weaken armor along.

Normal tips now-
This is not a miossion to do fancy gyrations. Just do as much damage as fast as you can to eveything that needs killing. Not everything needs to be killed.
Knockdowns are fine but if all your going to do is tickle their feet; don't knock them down.

Phase 1
1. Leave the worms alone. They are fixed targets. Just get out of their range.
2. There is a staff you can get that (I think ) slows down the bad guys. I can't remember what it actually does but it is a good thing for you.
The staff is found by:
Cross the rope bridge. the narrow one near the second worm.
When you cross a single Losaru (I can never get that name right) runs away from you. follow that critter just far enough to get weel out of rang eof the worm. That guy just went for help and will be back.
Three Losaru will attack you. Kill them and then backtrack to where they came from. down the arroyo and then of to the right.
More Losaru will be ther protecting a shrine. Kill them and take their staff.
The staff is a two handed artifact. Let someone that doesn't need hands to fight carry it.
Now go out into the big open area and kill the snake and the bows. The snake guy is a Messer or a Monk boss- got a SoC handy?

Phase 2
Park the ghostly hero at the bridge- cross it and use casters to take out the four bows guarding the gate. Cast over the walls.
When those four are dead get the ghost to open the gate and then park him at that spot Do not let him follow you.; you don't need him right now.
If he gets too close to the bad ghost he will attack it and that is not a real good idea at tthis time.
Go three steps inside the gate; drop the staff and then gtake three steps to the left and three steps back toward the wall. This gets you far enough away from the bad guys that they will attack in small groups. If you rush them and the bad ghost - plan on restarting the mission. IF they don't attack move a little closer to the stairs but don't go all the way to them. Once a couple attack you just stay there and the rest will come along shortly.

As you entered the fort you might have noticed the two bows way to the right as you came in the gate. Those two won't attack your hero until you go after the bonus and get outside the fort; oinohter words until you get too far away to come back to the rescue. After you killed the groups around the bad guy ghost then you can kill these two and the worms if you want.
These two will eventually attack the ghostly hero so you might try killing them.
It may help if your doing a bonus run to kill everything you can from inside the fort. TFor the mission you really don't have to leave the area of the ghostly hero's patio.
Now go kill the ghostly hero - leave yours outside the fort for now.
Pick up the staff,
There are small stairways, one on either side of the "patio". Take the staff a little ways out and to the left from the bottom of the stairs on the right <- looking at the patio from the entrance gate and drop it. This is just about where the second group sets up to attack the hero.

Now your set for Phase 3.
Go get your ghost and bring him to the patio.
You ghost can survive for a few minutes when left alone but don't stay away for very long.
The clock will start and the otehr gates willnwo open to let in more basd guys.
The first group attacks from the bottom of the left stairs and that's where you fight them.
When they are dead, run back up the stairs and then down the right stairs to get the second group.
The second group comes from the gate straight across from the one you entered through.
Most stay at the bottom of the stairs but one usually tries to get up them.
The other bad guys should be arriving at about the time you've put down the second group.
I think there are only three groups but I don't bother to count.
Ther might be another group along from the right (remember the two bad guys you ignored earlier (or maybe not) ), but they are no problem.
One might even be a boss.
And that's all you have to do for the mission.

The bonus"
Someone needs to verify this because I only know what I heard or read about. I haven't actually completed the bonus.
I did capture the elite that I was interested in though.

The bonus is to kill the 3 bosses (all have elite skills in their hip pockets; just ripe for the picking).

Do not attempt to do the bonus unless:
1. Your group is good enough to split up and take out the bad guys attacking your hero and to protect him while the rest of the group goes after the bonus.
2. You 've already completed the mission successfully and don't mind coming back repeatedly trying to complete the bonus. And you will come back - repeatedly.

This is what I do know:
You came into the fort using a gate that I'm going to call the north gate.
There are three other fortsd beyond this one.
Out the east gate (on the left as you came in) is a fort with a quick glance showed me several hundered bows and armors having a party. I didn't feel like crashing that party so I came back into the fort.
I went outside the west gate and met a batch of evils dudes and got croaked rather handily. I didn't get to peek into that fort so I don't reallly know what's in there. I might go back just to check out that fort.
Now for the south gate:
(Rumor has it that this is where the bonus is)
Step through the gate and you will have a few of the pop-up bugs poisoning you , a few bows and armors and (possibly) a worm. And way in the bAck is a boss (I've never had to go that far int o that fort either I got the elite at that spot.)
Kill these guys fast because you are now either running out of time or some other group of bad guys came out of the woodwork and are now attacking you hero.

And that's it.
The real trick here is to kill everything that needs to be killed extreamly fast- don't play with them jut kill them.
If you already have the completed the mission yo onlyneed to keep the hero alive long enough to get the bonus. A single healer, just out of range of the bad guys, may be able to keep him alive until the clock runs out or the bonus is complete.

A note of caution:
If you have a member that wants to run off and/or aggro everything - your doomed. Just go along for the XP and maybe you can pick up an elite or two along the way.

I have completed this one many, many times (the right ((stupid)) boss wouldn't show-up) using only henchmen.
It actually took several tries with a PUG before I managed to complete the mission.

When you kill the enemy ghost, do not step up on the platform until everybody is
healed and ready, then step on the platform and the 9:00 counter will start,
when you are standing on the platform and looking back at the gate you came thru,
the first baddies will come to you on the right, there are two of them go over and
quickly kill them, by then the ghost is getting hit by 4 or 5 baddies on the left, kill
all of them fast to, and again two more will have appeared on the right again, so
hurry up and kill'em, if you can get past that you will make it, right after those last two
you will have a couple of minutes before anything comes to the hero, very important
if you have henchies, back up the ramp and get one of the columns between you and the siege worm and they will stop firing at you, now you can fully heal and just keep
an eye on the three baddies resting at the gate, the minute they move towards you
run down to the hero and get ready to fight, the siege worms will have stop firing
when the baddies are there, after you kill the last group you have about two minutes
to do whatever you want, I ran out and killed the monk boss and got an elite skill
off him.
