Skills:
Vampiric Gaze
Life Siphon
Animate Horrors
Blood of the Master
Heal Area
Verata's Sacrifice
Offering of Blood
Restore Life

I run a Morgriff's set for weaps, and Bonelace for faster energy regen.

With a good monk who helps keep my children alive with extra heal areas, I've had over 20 up... but they start to degen pretty quickly, and just keeping them alive can become a full-time job...

The best build I have found for Sorrows Furnace is this one;

Animate Bone Fiends
Animate Bone Horrors
Veratas Sacrifice
Blood of the Master
Offering of Blood (elite)
Blood Ritual
Death Nova/Vamp gaze/Deathly Swarm
Taste of Death

Swarm is only to be taken if you don't think the damage output is high enough. Gaze is there for 1 monk parties, death nova in balanced parties.

1. OoB - whoever said you don't need this hasnt played with a good MM in my opinion. Saying that you get energy whenever a minion dies is true, but it is your aim NOT to let any minions die. If you walk around with 20+ minions and keeping them all alive you're having the highest DPS and damage output in general and are responsible for ~60% of the parties total damage output. So you have to keep them alive. Unless there is a battery necro in your team you do need this.

2.Blood Ritual - sorrows furnace knows a long area where you cannot use corpses to get minions, so you're best off enhancing your allies since you have points in blood to start with, this is your best bet.

3.Bone Horrors AND Fiends - Fiends often automaticly move in aggro range, and when this happends, they're just dead, simply because their armor and health isn't all that high. Horrors on the other hand are excellent at tanking this damage and take some of the aggro the fiends normally get. Also, in areas where there arent many bodies, you cannot use fiends as suicide bombers (nova'd minions) while you can use horrors as a suicide bomber. And lastly, there are a lot of necros in sorrows furnace who will use the body you use if you do not, if two enemies are down and your fiend is in cooldown, then a bone horror is an excellent alternative.

I think I run ;

12+3+1/10+1/10+1 but I'm unsure

Blood is Power is also Elite, so you probably aren't running it with OoB.

Nessaja,

I haven't run into may *good* parties that need BiP - so I think that Blood Ritual would be pretty much a wasted slot. Just my own personal experience and opinion - but I think every time I've been in a party that wanted me to bring BiP - we've done horribly.

Personally, I like keeping Life Siphon - the degen helps kill while the regen helps keep my health up (especially when sacrificing).

Just today I had a 6 man farming team, 2 echo-eles 2 monks 1 warrior, and moi.

They didnt even ask me to bring it, I just did it.

It helped them a lot for sure there are just areas (path with the icegolem) where you don't have minions after some time (aoe damage and mass degen on minions) a life siphon wont help your team much. Keeping all of your team on +3 regen will help a lot though.

And yes, it was an excellent party.
But suit yourself really

I usually go with these builds for Sorrow's Furnace:

Necromancer/Elementalist
Taste of Death
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Dark Bond
Glyph of Renewal {E}
Verata's Sacrifice
Blood of the Master
Animate Bone Fiend
Animate Bone Horror

Attributes (without mods):
12 Death Magic
12 Soul Reaping
3 Blood Magic

I think this build is pretty decent. Glyph of Renewal will lower Verata's Sacrifice's recharge time to 15 seconds instead of 30. Which will allow you to keep Verata's Sacrifice on your horde at all times. Glyph of Lesser Energy and the high Soul Reaping provide good energy management when summoning, etc. Try it out, you might like it.

Necromancer/Ranger
Serpent's Quickness
Melandru's Resilience {E}
Winnowing
Healing Spring
Verata's Sacrifice
Taste of Death
Animate Bone Fiend
Animate Bone Horror

Attributes (without mods):
12 Death Magic
8 Soul Reaping
10 Wilderness Survival

This is a pretty fun build. Melandru's Resilience will help out with health and energy regen if you're suffering from conditions and hexes. Serpent's Quickness is pretty great for an all-around faster recharge. Winnowing is great to have against mobs with high armor, etc. Healing Spring is pretty decent. You can heal your minions, and allies. The rest is pretty much self-explanatory.

Some great group builds! I'd like to run a solo MM build in the 18-20 MOB areas but am unsure about the best approach to getting the ball rolling, and running curses would be best I think (MoP, etc.).

Here's what I like to run for Sorrow's Furnace :

N/Mo

16 Death (w/ sup rune & +1 scar), 20% chance of lvl 17
10 Soul Reaping
9 Healing
rest in whatever

equipped w/ 20/20 (death) collector's bone staff w/ +1 death magic & +5 armor
- lucky me, i found this 20% +1 death mod on some drop, figured since no one would probably buy it, i'd keep it for my necro. i tried it out and was pleased to obtain lvl 19 minions =)

- deathly swarm (kill off annoying nearly dead mobs that your minions may be beating up on, but no one else is targeting)
- heal area (+120 hp heals)
- vengence/rebirth/res sig (recently started using essence bond in gear/barrel tanks if party is okay w/ me not carrying a res)
- taste of death (in case of emergencies)
- blood of the master (+122 heal, +127 heal 20%)
- summon bone horror
- summon bone fiend
- verata's sacrifice

pretty much deathly swarm and taste of death are swapped out when running around other areas. sometimes for well of power, sometimes for other fun stuff.

Here are some images of SF farming runs (ranging from orozar to FA) :
