Default Abaddon's Mouth

I am so sick of doing this Mission on my W/Mo (tried W/N too).

I did it perfectly fine, easy on my first try on my E/Mo. But I've been trying this *literally* for well-over a month, and PUG teams just suck, it's either no ones there, or when there are, theres no Monks, and when there is, the Monks suck, or when they don't, the rest of the team does, or if there good, there not infused, and if they are infused, we always fail some how.

Henchmen NEED to be infused for this mission! I know of people who have done it with non-infused henchmen, but I'm so sick of PUGs, there always shitty (excuse me) teams...or the Monks just can't heal/protect, I even tried self-healing, no good.

Help

I almost made this mission but 2 left and if you are infused it only covers 80% of the spectral agony. It is not always the Monk the yuck think of thier energy pool and those ester seals. We would of fineshed this mission if the 2 didn't leave. The thing is the eleementaist have got to stop useing fire in Island and use air or water espeacially when doing Hells.

I have failed this mission a few times with PUGs, but in general, I have found this to not be a difficult mission, and perhaps the easiest of the three ROF missions. I have also done it with henchies, so I really think that the rule is, if you are infused, so are the henchies.

There are a number of ways things can go completely wrong here. They are mostly due to lack of patience and lack of team strategy and team playing. You have to proceed slowly and be careful about which groups to go after when. You have to be good at pulling back in some places. And you have to have patience and be properly equipped for those pairs of bosses that you meet. Having rangers or mesmers with spell interruptors or backfire or energy stealing skills helps a lot. Otherwise, a lot of patience is needed. I've seen bosses that appeared to be invincible for five to ten minutes of constant battle suddenly begin to lose health - apparently at some point they simply run out of energy and no longer can keep up with healing or whatever they do. Like going after Yakslapper in SF: you can be there for 10 minutes and nothing seems to work, but then suddenly you get him.

Afterthought: Last time I did this mission, one of the party members, and elementalist, was not infused. Didn't even know what infusion meant! I never figured out how that possibly could be. I mean, he had to have done the Thunderkeep and Ring of Fire missions to get so far, so how could he have done that without being infused? Anyway, he died constantly and eventually mapped away in shame ;-). But I guess the question is, if we also had henchies in the group, would they maybe not be infused because one of us wasn't?

My Mesmer/Monk is currently at this mission. I have only tried it once with my wife's Warrior/Elementalist backing me up, the rest being all henchies. I didn't notice any problem with the henchies not being infused, they seemed to do fine. I'm guessing it may be if a member of the party is not infused, neither are the henchies maybe? Not sure.

We made it all the way to last two bosses (Ranger and Mesmer together) via slow, patient pulling of groups away from the seals, then finishing them off. Then rinse and repeat. You MUST take it slow, and be mindful of where your targets are.

It was quite discouraging to make it all the way to the almost end and then die, but I have confidence the next time around we'll succeed.

I will say that "Ether Seals" are the bane of my existence. I hate them. "We hates them, don't we my precioouusss..." I can't figure out a good way to take them down. Usually I'll go in with my Mesmer, interrupt the first two spells it does (usually Chain Lightning followed by Mind Shock) then put Backfire on it. I'm usually done in energy, but then it just seems best to let the warriors just beat down on it.

Is there an element or a damage type that just seems to work better against these things (Ether Seals)?

My main is a ranger, and he's currently at Ring of Fire. My experience with him and Seals is that alone, he is no match for it. He just can't put enough damage (even using Barrage or Penetrating Shot) into it to override its healing abilities.

Plus, using my Short Bows, I'm obviously within range of the seal, which strips my energy quickly. (However, I think I may be confusing two different things, Ether Seals and Mursaat Towers).

A couple of Rangers with Longbows might be able to take it out though. I might try that when my Ranger gets to Abaddon's.

Maybe I was lucky with PUGs, but I made it through all of the RoF missions pretty easily. I don't remember which mission was which, I'm thinking Abaddon's Mouth was the one we went through very very very slowly.

One useful hint - have a Ranger bring Winter. It turns all Elemental damage to cold, which means it does double dmg, even if they're using Fire spells.

We fought through very slowly, ALWAYS rested up between fights, if we could. If we saw a patrol in the area we always went after the patrol so that we could get them separated. We had one guy drop out half-way through, but we still made it through the mission.
