Just wanted to pipe in that I finally got my healing monk to the point that she could go to the dark side and farm. I set her up with the Miteethor V3.0 build and it worked much better than my E/Mo build. In fact it was just too easy. At one point I had 10-12 coldfires and ~6 smites surrounding me and for the first time I was in danger of dying--then I just started moving (walking real slow due to water hexes) and my hp went right back to the top A few times my E dropped to exactly 0 while fighting the Grasping Darknesses but luckily I was punching a Bonetti's just as this happened and I got some E back before I lost my prot bond.

Excellent work on the build.

There should be no worries about energy dropping to zero with most of these builds. The only times I've seen bond drop due to low energy was when: (1) you have -1 or lower energy regen or (2) you have negative energy.

(2) Only happens when you have something that gives you an energy bonus, and that bonus goes away. The most common example is when you are hexed, and have less than 3 energy (the -50hp focus item has a +3 energy bonus while hexed). I have ended up in many many fights with darknesses where they keep my energy at zero for long periods of time (until Bonetti's is charged back up).

Starting Stats:
12+4 Protection
10+3 Smiting
8+3 Healing

Cast Bond, Balthazars, then move points:

10+3 Protection
11+4 Smiting
10+3 Healing

Now cast Mending, which will be at +4 and Essense Bond

With this build I have done:

6 ataxes at once (easy but you have to time things)
8 Darkness at once (again pretty easy, use Bonnettis and then launch)
8 Darkness pus 4 ataxes (very hard, timing was everything and I should have died)
6 coldfires at once (not easy, constant interuptions and stacked malesteroms) and regularly take 3 at a time (very easy)
10 Smites (very easy - they don't interrupt)

I know that these are all builds based around 1 principle: Protective Bond is actually usable at lvl 17, but I have tried basically all of these builds and have found the one I just posted to be the best combination of safety and killing speed.

MiteeThoR
To add my own two cents on this build:

This has made the UW so easy that I am already looking for other things to do. Nothing that I have fought there solo - and I have cleared two or three large areas of it - has afforded me any challenge at all.

Yeah the only thing that can kill you actually is coldfire and terrorweb... I never died against draknesses, smites, aatxe with v.3.

With v.3 I tried 10 darknesses yesterday, and it was easy I'll try 15 later today, maybe some challenge For the Smites... you can take as many as you want.. they are so easy! And usually I avoid coldfire, I hate fighting them.. take too much time

There are few things that we cannot solo out there.. the new challenge would be find a way to clear them

on the subject of interrupts, i've also used an axe in FOW with my interrupt of choice being disrupting chop (the same skill mountain trolls use, disables that skill for 20 sec) replacing blessed sig.

Good idea on that axe... and I think I have the perfect axe to use:

Nicanor Gannel
--------------
Location: South of Serenity Temple, directly east of Fort Ranik
Collects: 3 Scorched Lodestones
* Fiery Flame Spitter, Dmg: 5-12 (req. 3 Axe Mastery)
Improves skill recharge (Chance: 15%)

Add a wrapping of enchantment on top

Since I'm using v3 of miteethor's, I'll replace my +2 regen with disrupting chop. Hopefully I can get enough adrenaline to fuel both this and Bonetti's.

To anyone bored with UW... try FoW... we need more people to share knowledge on how to solo there. Besides the weapon drops in FoW seem to be much better.

If you are fighting the Shadow Ele's don't let your Enery drop below 6 as they have a spell that somehow drains energy......it only like 3 energy...but if you have 2 energy.....then protect bond is gone!

I generally avoid all mesmer types in FoW. I just cast BA and SoJ (so they can strip those enchants first) before I get in aggro range and run past them. Fortunately, they don't chase you very far.

Miteethor V3 does not work nearly as effectively at 105 hp. At 105 you take 5 damage per hit, and you are healing 6 arrows = 12 health per second. When not bleeding this means 2.4 hits per second are healed, and when bleeding that drops to 1.2 hits per second which means the mobs have to stay very small.

On the other hand, at 55hp the damage is rounded down to 2 damage per hit, meaning you can heal 6 hits per second or 3 hits per second with bleeding.

Then add Bonettis or SoJ and you quadruple the number of hits per second for those durations, meaning 24 while not bleeding or 12 while bleeding.

You also can take 20 extra hits beyond those that are healed each second, which gives you that sliding buffer between Bonettis and SoJ where you can take more hits than you are healing for a short while.

Hope that explans it

Anyone know when the first time it's possible to run (without doing missions) to maguuma stade? I'd like to get my monk there quickly so i can test how lower level smiters do in the UW. (x2 of the skills that you need for the build are there...)

The best way there is from Bergon Hotsprings in the Neboo Terrace and you must be ascended that means you must have done all three missions in the Crystal Desert.I would prefer haveing quests though. Now back on topic.

This is to the Temple of Ages of course.

You don't have to be ascended to goto the UW.

My first charry went in long before she was ascended.

From Druid Overlook, do the Mysterious Message quest. That leads you about halfway to Quarrel Falls, run the rest of the way there. From there you can run to Maguuma, with a layover in Ventari's Refuge.

Hey is it possible to do this with major runes or you must have superior runes? it's just buying monk sup runes are never available i find, or they go for rediculous prices.
