Quick question... Does having that 1 bar of energy regen really matter? What if you popped in Divine Boon instead? You could spam the hell out of Zealot's Fire with that, as it's an almost instantaneous cast with 0 recharge time... You're also healing yourself for 33 + (50 or so?) every cast, and health won't drop nearly that fast. If you're interrupted, big deal. Instant is instant, right?

With zealot's fire doing 37 damage to everything for 7 energy every second or so, you might not even need Bal's Aura, though that would definitely help...

When the fight's over and you need energy, taking off divine boon and letting it recharge while you take a smoke break shouldn't be too horrible... You're soloing the UW with speed and in style.... ~~~EDIT~~~ Duh, you have blessed signet... Keeping divine boon on and spamming blessed sig during downtime or when you have 1 or 2 Aataxe is actually a lot faster than that single bar of energy regain.

Please give feedback on why this is a bad/good idea. I'm just brainstorming here.

I'm gonna see what i can come up with my W/E. So far I'm using
water protection spells and tactics. I'm gonna play around with all
my skills and see what i get, If not then I might go back to W/Mo
but use protection skills more then healing.

I use to use Mending and Live Vicariously at the same time with
a vampiric axe. My healing then was increadible, but the defences
were far from as good as using Armor of Frost, Armor of Mist,
Watch Yourself and Gladiator's Defence all at the same time.

Yeah, I just started soloing it a few days ago, but I've found that it's more efficient to go with either two monks (one proter, one smiter), or those two and a BiPer Necro. Yes, drops are split 2-3 ways, but you can get it done way faster, and the only things that ever kill you are the obsidian behemoths.

Wow. This has helped me SO much. Thanks a ton for this, Jelly. Maybe I'll be getting that Fissure armor after all...

Just tested this. I replaced Healing Breeze with Divine Boon and it worked beatifully. Just make sure you take at least 2 enemies on at a time, and you'll be fine. It's pretty tough against the Aatxe's, since there's no way to counter the bleeding, but the ease of the smite crawlers made up for it. They were SO easy with Boon. Just cast Zealot's Fire before you go in, then right as the first crawler reaches you, cast Balthazar's Aura. But make sure you DO NOT ATTACK! Shield of Judgment is deadly, so don't bother attacking. Your adrenaline for Bonetti's will charge up VERY fast anyway. Oh, and I switched my attributes around as well:

Healing Prayers: 0 (no healing prayers used)
Smiting Prayers: 10+4 [14]
Protection Prayers: 12+3 [15] (Use Defender's Scalp Design when casting Protective Bond)
Divine Favor: 8+3 [11]
Tactics: 2

Default Wow I thought 2 man was mental.

Madness. I am pretty impressed.

I really just think it would be too tedious with one person. With a guildie I think it goes by faster.. but if you don't have a guildie.. hey. It's aaalll good.

Great job.

I can't do the darknesses as a mo/me
Instead of bonettis I throw up a mantra of concentration to stop the aatxes interupting as often. Since I can't get the darknesses it's not as lucrative as I'd hoped
Thanks for the post though.

Ok, first off equip whatever armor gives you 16 prot prayers, then equip the protective icon and cast protective bond. It is essential that you get a lvl 17 cast out of it, you will know its lvl 17 by it saying, "you lose 1 energy or the spell ends" rather than 2 from lvl 16. The difference between the two levels is tremendous, with the lvl 17 cast and the other two bonds on, you gain 1 energy for each hit you take. Once you have that up, throw on essence bond, balthazar's spirit, and zealot's fire. You are now ready for battle!
Hi!

I don’t know how rounding works in GW but it would seem logical to me like this:

Protective Bond:
„While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally cannot take more than 5% damage at one time. When Protective Bond prevents damage, you lose 6-3 energy or the spell ends.”

So, at 0 point in PP, you lose 6 energy, at 12 points in PP, you lose 3. This means, in 12 steps the energy loss decreases from 6 to 3, it means 3/12 = 0,25 energy per point invested in PP.
If you continue this pattern, it will give:
2,75 at 13
2,50 at 14
2,25 at 15
2,00 at 16,
and
1,75 at 17

I think there is no way of rounding that gives 1,00 out of 1,75, I was wrong before though.
What is wrong with my calculation?

OMG Niceguy... I didn't notice no healing prayers were used with the DB build!! I've been using Divine Boon all night.. 4 ecto so far and a whole bunch of other stuff.... I'll test with your new Att. build; should go much faster.

Thanks for that info!

Later,

@ Sunyi

I believe it doesn't round off but just cuts it to the full number. So 1.99 would be 1 as well. Try what you get at Lvl 13 and you've got your answer.

Wow! that is AMAZING
Two questions:
1. Is this possible with a W/Mo? anyone start experimenting?- I know you wouldnt be able to get that 16/17 protection, but maybe there are other ways to make up for that
2. Any videos? i'd love to see this in action

W/Mo wouldn't work with the same build. Not enough energy regen and too much life.

very true..

we've run both mo/w and mo/me solo in UW in our guild - seems that in our experience, the mo/w works better from an energy management point of view by virtue of bonetti's. But mo/me, with channelling, does work.

the only way a w/mo works (again, in our experience) is with a protection monk partner carrying some of the enchants to offset the energy load, as well as having the warrior decked out in a low hp set of armour (ie: 5 superior runes).

Perhaps there's a version of the "griffon run" build that would work, but I suspect that the 4 enchant is the only way.

Bear in mind this is only with respect to certain enemies - enchant removers like the Behemoths or Dream Riders, or hex-ers like the mindblades, render this build vulnerable. Spellbreaker helps, but it can only do so much...

The problem with Kalgareth's version of the Griffin Run is the deadly Savage Slash of the aatxe. Since he used skills that require more than a second of casting time, you would have to rely on the 75% chance of Bonetti's constantly. Plus, you won't get 8 hits in fast enough to build up the requirement for a Bonetti's, since the aatxe uses Riposte and Deadly Riposte to block some of your attacks.

As with every attempt at a solo UW build, they're only use seems to be clearing out the first lot and doing a few groups of smites. There are too many variables to take into account, and I highly doubt any solo character could take out one of the behemoths. The main reason being that they use Healing Spring, and since all 8 skills slots are set aside for dealing with hard hitting aatxe, you probably won't have a way to disrupt their healing. Plus, you tend to fight them in groups, another problem.

I've attempted the solo UW with W/R and managed to make it to the smites, but if I were to attempt slaying the dryders for the first quest I would fall. Spells are too difficult to deal with, and burning hurts. I haven't been very far in the UW, but my assumption is that it could be achieved with a strong tank and a protection monk.

Tactics my friend, tactics.

The details of it are here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=33829

Mind you my purpose was mainly just to be able to handle aatxe and grasping darkness. I've gotten just a single glob in all my troubles but it made it all worth it.

It doesn't work like you wrote. At 13 Protection (2,75 in my calculation) Protective Bond still takes 3 Energy. At 14 though (2,5 in my calculation) it will take away 2 Energy.

My guess was that rounding UP occours from 0.99 to 0.51 and rounding DOWN from 0.5 to 0.01. But with this logic you would get an Energy loss of 1 Energy per hit at 18 in Protection which is unreachable.

@Racthoh: could your Warrior and jelly's monk lay waste to the Underworld together?

This is one heck of a build. I use Db instead of breeze also and it works very well especially against the smites. The coldfires are also no problem. Thanks for the tip.

I use it with channeling instead of Bonnettis on my Mo/Me and it works for a lot of physical damage mobs. It's a nice build and there's a lot of creativity in it, I'd say.

Does the absorption from a superior absorb rune stack with Protective Spirit or better - does it apply after the damage reduction of the spirit? Because that would be nice as well and make it very viable for a w/? and a protection mo/? to farm as a team.

How did you applied five superiors with -75 hp penalty? There is only four monk attribute superior runes and W superiors can't be used.

Use one that you have already used, you won't get + attribute points for it, but you get -75 health.
