Heh I completed this on my 2nd try with PC group. Of course, it was probably about the 100th time doing it for some of them.

I'm going to try this mission again tonight, and my call out to start a party will be:

Starting group for mission, accepting all professions except warrior...

I'm hoping if I'm the only warrior and I refuse to run out the door noone else will. I've been through this mission many times, but for some reason I have a harder time directing henchies w/ my warrior than I do w/ my ranger and I've run into a spat of bad luck w/ the PUGs...

Last night was even sadder, the group wasn't doing really well to begin with, but rather than taking one group at a time in the stadium before the tough part starts they insisted on aggro'ing everything on the screen at the same time. I just don't understand it...

I've played and beaten this mission twice now, once with my W/Mo tank and once with my Mo/Me healbot. Both times I was lucky and got into smart, mature groups that took considerable care to plan out who was going to do what. Hell, the second group we spent a solid 10 minutes at least just planning our defense of the fort. Both times our strategy was the same: necros/nukers man the catapults, warriors/healers/rangers patrol the middle and engage anything that got through at the gates.

First time through we nearly bit it when that damned Perfected Armor showed up and we lost about 3-4 of our guys in the mad scramble. BUT, I was able to draw the boss's aggro and keep him entertained long enough for our monk(singular, we had ONE primary monk and an elementalist with healing breeze) to get everyone res'd, kill off the boss's buddies, and then gang up on the boss and drop him. Everything after that was easy, the king never came under attack once and we even got the bonus completed too.

Second time was even easier- solid group, solid planning. We didn't try for the bonus because our leader was one of those who had been defeated by the mission so much he just wanted to get through it without any added risk(he admitted afterwards that we could have done the bonus easy, which is true). Also we got lucky on the boss spawn, it was a ranger and never really gave us any trouble. Final tally was, king was never attacked, we never lost a single guy(what can I say, I ain't bad as a healbot), and everyone was mostly going "Huh, well, this is easy..."

Biggest key really is to get yourself a group full of intelligent, committed players. They don't all have to know the mission by heart, they just have to be able to listen and follow instructions. Any group that can do those two things, and also takes time to plan their actions out, should be able to win.

having gotten there but not tried it yet... I think I'll wait for the rest of my guild mates to catch up. We deal some serious damage when we group so maybe we'll get through in a few tries. Definatly try the stratagy you all have laid out.

finished the mission first try when i had did it with 7 people.. works best pretty much with this setup..

*NEED* 2 monks

anyways, the two monks each take one side between the ballistas, CONSTANTLY firing ballistas. most of the groups, will take many many casualties, or be severely weakened by the ballista fire.. just gotta know the left ballista fires into the left grey area, the right into the right.

anyways, the two monks fire off the ballistas constantly, and the rest of the group just switches sides as the mursaat and enemy mobs come from both sides.

we would engage them right under the bridge under the ballistas, and when my team would come to my side, i'd heal them, and when enemies went back to the other side, the other monk would heal while i kept on the ballista fire

i mean, it definitely helps to have a good group that doesnt have the fathead warrs that run out of the fort.. but IMO the mission is very easy if you play it slow and don't overaggro.

just from the ballista fire, by the time dorian came in, he had maybe 2 others left with him

if anyone needs help or a monk for this mission, my monk ingame is Eldarin Ithuliel, he's healing.

I just wanted to thank you all for your decicive help on this! I read through this and several other threads miticulously before I attempted the mission. I even went so far as to explore different builds, but actually ended up staying with the one I was comfortable with (probably not as powerful as a lot out there).

I picked up my henchies and dove in. I slowly progressed and of course, I got the Monk Mursaat boss. That fight took about 15 minutes, but I came out on top and the rest is history.

It seemed to me that it was not nearly as difficult as everyone made it out to be, but then again I had all of this info as a resource before attempting. So cheers to you all on my first-try victory!

Congrats, I too was stuck on this mission. Also took the henchie advise to heart and succeeded

Did it with just my monk, just my ele and just my mesmer and henchies. Easiest time I had was with my mesmer.

By the time my ranger needed it I had found a kickass guild, now we truly own THK when we do it.

Am I the only one who has never had ANY trouble with this mission? It's a walk in the park just like any other mission. My first character is a W/Mo, I joined the first group available, we did it in first try. Second character is a Mo/Me, I joined first group that would invite me blindly, and did the mission as a bonder. No planning whatsoever.

It's a very boring and tedious mission, all you have to do is wait for 2-4 mursaat to appear, and kill them like any other thing in the game, and wait for 2 minutes for another wave of mursaat or whatever comes your way. Repeat until timer hits 30 minutes. And sometimes use the catapult for fun.
