Default Henching Hell's Precipice? *Possible Spoilers*

Okay, since I really can't stand PUGs, I hench all the missions that I can. For Abbadon's Mouth and RoF, I took a guild member (Ranger) to pull groups (since henchmen are terrible at that). But otherwise, it's me and seven henchmen.

Enter Hell's Precipice.

It's really not that hard up until Undead Rurik. But I can't seem to even begin to kill him. I've tried the "Save the boss until last" method, but his 70+ damage swings are a little too painful to ignore. Combine that with the four Hand/Fists and two Sparks up on the platform, and I've got a problem.

So, tell me... I know it's henchable. I've seen the screenshots that show that. My question is HOW do you do it?

ive done it with 2 dudes + 6 hench, but thats the minimum possible as you need someone to hold the hench while you lure the enemies

oh and one of the two dudes has to be the leetest monk youve ever seen ever.

what type of char are you?
If you have access to a necro secondary, just pop on enfeeble and faintheartedness. The former is spammable and easily gimps all meleers (hands and fists and rurik)
mesmers can use empathy, ineptitude, clumsiness as well as distortion and signet of midnight
rangers have throw dirt and whirling
wars can catch aggro and stance tank and hammer kd chains
monks have guardian, aegis, life bond/barrier
eles have wards - melee and element and harm(i think rurik hits with a fiery sword, so itll reduce his damage), and you could use something like knockdown (earthquake) to keep some of the guys out of order

im sure u can work something out, though i still prefer enfeebling blood due to its unconditional and severe reduction in damage as well as its spammability
Or you could just use enfeebling blood to catch them all at once

Its not too bad, since almost everything in hells precipice is melee. The only major problem being inferno imps (my arch nemeses).

Take the spirit called "Winter", sounds not logical, but nearly all dmg is reduced that way and you can take fire eles, that will make tons of dmg

I've done RoF and THK with one friend and six henchies. Hell's is quite do-able. My groups have always picked off the hands and fists, saving Rurik for later. Often, many of the hands/fists/sparks in the back will not notice you, and can pretty much be ignored. I have always been in the back, where Rurik never lays a bony, skeletal finger on me (so I have no real perception on how powerful he truly is).

I would reccomend taking out as many hands/fists as possible, and if any enemies in the back ignore you, ignore them back! No need to make life harder. Often, many PuGs decide to fight to the end. I am not sure what is with you people, but there is nothing holding you back from doing hit-and-run in order to regroup between kills.

I did it with Necro/Mesmer and good old henchies. For me, the fist of titans came running at us after the clip, got lucky i suppose. Only sparks and rurik, then i ordered the henchies first aggro rurik and then worked on the sparks. Rurik was running around and hitting almost everyone, no harm here :P. Infact, i was expecting more from him .

I've completed Hell's Precipice with only henchmen on my warrior. I found party buffs like watch yourself were extremely helpful. For Undead Rurik, I just pulled the titans by walking into aggro range and slowly, but not too slowly, walking out.

uhm, I did it on a very crack ss nec of my friends who had nearly no skills by.. uh, well, completely rushing the shit out of the whole huge mob with rurik.

Survived the first blow like this with me, thom and mhenlo, let mhenlo res up..

Rinse and repeat, finally killed them all with about 30-45 dp on all of my henchie [and 15 dp on me, I died at the second over-extending titan] .. went on to finish the mission. ^_^

Also, be sure not to save the Ancient Seer if you intend to only do the mission. Saving the Ancient Seer results in the Armageddon Lords spawning, which make this mission, IMO, significantly more difficult. Either pass by her and laugh as she is burnt to ashes by the titans, or take the southern route to the portals, from which you pretty much don't encounter her.

Although Rurik seems to be your main problem here, it helps greatly to ignore the seer if you just want to do the mission. In the portal area, what I do is stay in the area near the huge lava pool (the pool the armageddon lords would spawn in). Pull a few groups of patrolling titans, eliminate them, as well as the hands/fists coming out of the lava pool. Repeat until all the patrols are gone, then go for the portals. Yes, I always eliminate all patrols before attempting to aggro any wraiths, it helps greatly, IMO.

I've done Hell's precipice twice now with 7 henchies on my ranger and my warrior. I lost once because I forgot the imps all run together at the first boss spawn and you can bypass them I'd say its easier to do with 7 henchies than abaddons mouth, and also easier than RoF since with henchies I've found that you really have to go the back way since the henchies can never kill the seals inside the base. The back way on RoF with henchies is nasty too because the of all the imps, but doable (if you can do it without the henchies all getting 60 dp I pat you on the back).

All these missions are doable with henchies, unless you are a monk, then it's damn tough. But if you are a monk it shouldn't be hard to get guildies to help you or get a decent pug going.

I haven't really noticed what the Lords do as you don't actually get close enough to fight them, and I don't bother doing the bonus. Do they make the little guys spawn out of the lava? (I call the hands and fists little guys). Even if they do make the little guys spawn out of the lava, they are easy to pull and pick off one by one. They also stop spawning after a few minutes. Especially with henchies it is terribly difficult to make it the other way with all the enemy groups in a small area. If you pass the seer you get small groups that are seperated by a good amount and are easy to kill.

For the middle area with the portal wraiths I sually take out small groups of one or two hands/fists and one boss at a time. I usually don't try to take on the monster group of a burning titan, 2-3 of the necro titans, and 2 or so sparks. Usually I kill off all the guys in the first area until the guys stop spawning in the lava. I work my way in taking out the bosses by pullling them back. When the big group is at the far end I take out the first portal. Then I go to the far portal and take that out. Then when the big group is at the end close to where you start, I take out the middle group as fast as I can and pray the big group doesnt get back in time for me to kill them off (because you warp immediately after you kill the last one)

The last part with rurik I usually had difficulty with because by that time most of the henchies were at 60 dp due to random mistakes being made by both me and the henchies. What I did was get a long/flat bow and pull the group of 4 little guys on the left. Most of the time this aggroes rurik and the sparks to come down. Kill the sparks as fast as possible (they are squishie which helps) then kill the little guys as fast as possible. If you have interrupts, use them on the particularly nasty fire spells that you can readily hit or time them well. If everyone is dying run the hell away and rebirth the team (rebirth is very useful for henching it). Usually even if you are going down you can kill one or two guys. Rinse and repeat and you will eventually kill everything with minimal effort.

You don't even need to worry about the group that is on rurik's right, as they will disappear after you beat rurik and will never aggro if you play smart. As long as you kill things sparks -> hands/fists -> rurik you should be able to kill them. As a ranger I found it helpful to have a pet since it will tend to draw aggro away from your team for a short amount of time, which will allow you to kill more things before your team dies (if it does die). You can also res a pet alot easier than a human. AoE also helps alot, for the ranger it was barrage, for the warrior I had knockdown which helped in limitting enemy damage (I used earth shaker).

I haven't actually tried just plinking at rurik to pull him and the sparks but not the group to the left. Every time I think that by pulling the left group it will not aggro rurik so I try it but it always seems to anyways. It is likely though that by pulling the sparks it will pull the left group anyways.

I personally think that overloading damage helps alot more than beefing up your defense, assuming you are on a character that can do a good amount of damage. You can usually take single targets out in a matter of 5-10 seconds. Making the fight shorter will often make you take less damage than adding in defense, because things like meteor shower and eviscerate/mind burn spikes can often ruin your day when using henchies.

I think i could be of some help, having henched this mission 9 times or so now in hopes of getting a rare sephis axe from the chest where the portal wraiths are.

Regardless your class, bring a longbow please.

Just kill, kill, kill up to the spot where the portals are ( Im guessing this is the only part you need help in, the rest is old classic killing.. ). Pull out your longbow and start luring hands/fists of the titans. Constantly kill those that keep popping out of the lava until 2 bosses pop out. You might wanna save them till later, because when this happens, quite a number of hands/fists will do so as well.

Once titans stop popping out of the lava, just lure hands/fists in the middle of the area ( or kill the lords if you took bonus). Till only the bosses and the large group that consists of 1 spark, 1 or 2( ? ) risen ashen hulks and 1 burning titan. Pull the boss that follows this group closely ( yes it's possible, easiest point is when this group starts to turn around ). Lure the other bosses if you didn't catch them when they got out of the lava, and kill the last group to finish off the main difficult portion.

Portal Wraiths are fairly easy, no need for me to elaborate on that...

Now for Prince Rurik. Here's a little known fact. The 8 Titans spawn RIGHT in front of your party IF YOU DONT SKIP THE CUTSCENE. This makes it easier as you dont have to risk luring the two sparks while trying to get the titans. Normally 4 out of the 8 will run to you, so just ninja by the side of which the titans should have been after you kill the titans. Kill the sparks, then grab a drink while the henchies (slowly ) kill Rurik.

For the lich, its pretty simple. Heal up whenever you get hit ( he can staff you to death on 2-3 hits average ). Titans are a PRIORITY to kill. If the Lich happens to rez when you kill him, ALWAYS go for the titans first. They can be annoying and kill your henchiemonks while Lich happily staffs the rest to death.

Well thats about it, I hope this helps you =)

It's highly possible. My guild leader and I used to farm Hell's Precipice with hench for Magmas shield, until we decided to just do chest runs through the mission. Much less time consuming.

it IS possible, in fact: i finished the game with all my chars using henchies only.

just take 1 monster at a time and know your priorities ( hint: sparks). the henchies will "listen" to that and decimate the sparks first as ordered.

tricky to get the bonus, but not impossible at all.

i remember doing it with my ranger and i had the greatest time ever using winter... i just wiped out the whole level for fun.

Perhaps slightly off topic but Ive tried soloing this without any henches even and can get up to the portal wraiths. Beyond that it gets impossible with just one. Cant kill all of thecraetures though and bad spawns will mess the whole thing up. The only things I can seem to kill without getting killed first is the ranger boss, ele boss and ashen hulks.

W/Mo using:

Mark of Protection
Protective Spirit
Reversal of Fortune
Sprint
Flurry
Disrupting Chop
Executioner's Strike
Healing Signet

With 11 protection prayers, 10 tactics, 14 axe mastery and residual strength.

The only thing that ever poses a problem is sparks of the titan. Even running past them you can get hit for 199+ damage from inferno/rodgorts/mind burn. Even with Mark and Prot Spirit up you can still take a hefty hit from the imps and the burning will sometimes kill you if you cant shake their aggro off fast.

Everything else you can or avoid and you can kill the ashen hulks even if you get rended because they do peanuts in damage. And that can be outhealed using RoF and Heal Sig. But yea you can basically chest run Hells with that build as long as the spawns dont suck. With henches you can almost guarantee that you wont die at least, so you can drop something like disrupting chop for rebirth. Imps have to go down first though because they do a monstrous amount of damage that I havent yet found a reliable way of reducing. Another good one would be a necro secondary with enfeeble/enfeebling blood and plague touch to get rid of burning. The imps still need to go down first though.
