Angry "The Captured Son" Quest, Need Help ASAP [warning]

After killing about 150 mobs with 60 DP and dying over and over and over again, I can't talk to the NPC to get my 4k xp. He has the "!" over his head, but won't talkl. Anyone know a workaround for this? Or can I just kiss the last 2 hours goodbye? Very frustrating.

Another thing about that mission. You can kill 90% of the mobs and get stuck at the end, cause the last 8 or so are higher levels and are hard to pull apart.

I had the same problem as the OP. We were finally able to clear the area, but the son wouldn't talk to us.

Completed the mission twice yesterday. Yes, two hours & 60% dp each run with henchies and my low-level char. Same problem as OP: the son had the green "!" above his head but wouldn't respond.

I'd like to hear from more people who've managed to get this to work - don't feel like putting in the time investment again only to be unable to get the quest rewards.

The quest was bugged and has been fixed. Still hard as hell though. Best to take the level 16 henchies from later in the game.

Here's a tactic I used that worked for me, although, it still was really tough.

There are several quests within the same zone, that you can complete as you go along.

So what I would do is keep whacking away at the Captured Son quest until I had 30-40 dp, and then I'd turn in one of the other completed quests in the zone.

The xp from the quest reward would bring DP back down under 10 usually.

Then I'd go whack away again until DP is high and turn in another.

Rinse and repeat.

If you havn't finished the quest to escort those four other students to the next mission area, grab them and have them follow you to the docks to help on the quest
Of course, it's very likely that one or more may die, and you would have to restart the escort quest... but that's easily done.
