My guild is Kurzick. My monk just finished the game via the Kurzick path.
Part way through the game you get 2 primary quests. Befriend the Kurzick, and Befriend the Luxon.

I got 10k of each faction as I like to explore and do all the quests.

As the guild is Kurzick, I completed Befriend the Kurzick. However, having 10k Luxon, the Befriend the Luxon primary also shows as completed, though I have not gone for the quest reward for the Luxons yet.

My question is this, if I accept the reward for befriending the Luxon, will this have any negative effects. i.e. will the Kurzicks now hate me etc

Or does this simply allow you to complete the other path through the game, and both sides like you.

I believe if you complete one of the quest, then it will have a negative effect towards the other. Lets say you complete kurzicks befriend quest, you will lose all 10k factions from Luxons. This will cause the Luxons to hate you. Vice versa if you complete Luxon befriend quest even if your guild is aligned with Kurzick. Inorder to make them like you again, just make sure you have more factions into either the Kurzicks or Luxons. Whichever you want to conduct business with atm.

There isnt an ultimate everyone will like you - its an ongoing scale.

Once you spend Kurzick points your Luxon faction will decrease even if you havent spent the points.

NPCs of the enemy side wont talk to you if you have more faction with their enemy.

If you want to do both sides fully you need to do them one at a time or else your just creating alot of hard work for yourself.

I also think you may have to befriend the side each time to be able to attain Amber/Jade

Completing quests and gaining faction doesn't reduce faction on the opposite side.

Spending faction to get Jadeite or using it otherwise reduces same amount of faction on the opposite side.

I got both Befriend Kurzik and Luxon done on 4 chars so far, and intend to complete both sides of the fence on all my chars, remaining "neutral" or "mercenary" in the battle. Atleast for now.

you only lose factions with the opposing side if you redeem your faction points afaik
