Default Questions about Factions pts / Elite missions, etc

Ok, I've read the faq and have some pretty specific questions about how Factions works. I'm a very experienced but very deliberate player. I'm in an alliance with some very highly-ranked PVP guilds, but I'm a PVE player, so I'm not real sure how this all works.

What I gather is that once I ally myself with a faction (in my case, Luxon), by doing Luxon quests or winning alliance battles, I gain Luxon faction points. I can either deposit them with my alliance for greater alliance standing, or use them to buy jade for Luxon armor.

I may be wrong about some of this, so I'd appreciate some feedback if there's something I'm missing.

So, how many elite missions are there? Just two, as in 1 Luxon and 1 Kurzick?

I see the line drawn on my map designating where the borders are, but I'm not that far into the game and it's all fog so I don't know how many outposts are under my alliance's control. I understand the Luxon Capital is Cavalon, and if my alliance controls it, I get that Elite quest right? So what is the use then of having smaller towns/outposts under my alliance's control?

Can I only play these Elite quests with people from my alliance? If so it might be tough finding that many, since most of them are PVP's. I'm basically hoping to farm them like I used to do Oro/FA.

What exactly are the benefits of increased faction points, and my area under my alliance's control? Should I stop tinkering around Kaineng doing random quests and missions and head right for the alliance stuff?

thanks for any illumination that people might bring

You can either deposit the faction you earn through quests, alliance battles or an activity called 'faction farming' into your alliance 5k at a time and as many times as you want, or you can trade 1k faction out for one piece of jade, or one piece of amber.

If at any time you have an amount of both luxon and kurzick faction, say, 5.5k each, and you deposit 5k luxon faction into your alliance, you will lose 5k kurzick faction.

You can have up to 10 guilds in a total alliance. Each guild can have 100 members for a combined total of 1000 people.

There are two elite missions. Urgoz's Warren for Kurzick and The Deep, for Luxon. The capitols for those missions, are House, and Cavalon.

There are several outposts scattered about on both sides of the line and the greater majority of them, are controlled by smaller alliances (less faction), and with the obviously larger alliances, determined by player base and total faction tally between all the guilds within each alliance, determining who has the true power alliance, either cavalon, or house. Only the alliances controlling either of those major capitols at the given time, are supposed to have access to the elite mission.

If you find yourself in the position, of having a hold on one of those capitols/elite mission towns, you may choose to bring in anyone you like to the mission, although you will find there are already a majority of campers and non leavers already waiting. So that shouldn't be a problem.

Increasing your faction points, will steadily increase your chances of someday holding the luxon capitol, in your case, but it is a lot of work ahead of you, because as I write this, the black blades have 4 million plus faction already dumped into their alliance.

And since you will probably wonder, you do have to maintain it and continually increase the amount of faction you put into your alliance to maintain any hold you have, anywhere, because every day, at 6 pm, you lose a 10% of the total, poof, gone, and you need to replace it, and add more to it or risk the chance of losing what you worked for.

thanks shadow for taking the time. I've been reading a lot of threads about the elite missions, and the way this is being implemented has me pretty steamed too, for the same reasons it has so many others steamed.

So then, is there really any advantage to having control over a smaller outpost?

and out of curiosity.......5000 factions you can either deposit, or get 5 jade/amber. How many jade/ambers does it take to get the armor that requires them? I might consider getting enough for 1 set then depositing the rest.

I read somewhere that there are repeatable missions or quests that will give you faction. Would this be a way around doing the alliance battles to contribute to your alliances faction points?

again thanks for your time. I can't say I'm very happy with how this is being done. I don't like being shut out of PvE content when I'm I'm a dyed in the wool PvE'r that has earned my stripes in farming and exploring.

In fact I can see myself getting 'Kind of a Big Deal' much sooner than being a major faction farmer.

they should have dumbed those repeatable quests so that you can only gain the extra faction by doing the 12vs12 and such.

what about ppl who don't like to PvP?

Believe it or not there are some who would rather grind the same quest over and over to gain faction. Yes, they hate PvP that much.

you need 80 amber/jade for 15k armor (kurzick at Vasburg Armory, luxon at Galya Hatchery or something likethat)

for a set of 1.5k armor, you need 21 amber/jade me thinks (either at HzH or Cavalon)

the use of having smaller outposts in control (ie, other than capitals), is that u can use exclusive merchant, selling20% off price. not big, but the idea is to grab thecapital anyway :>

seeing that youre a nice guy,ill explain some ways to "farm" faction (well those im aware of). you can either do Competitive missions (not sure which ones are on theLuxon side, as Im kurzick allied), in which you do something in a time limit, and the goal is to collect/protect/kill as much as possible. depending on your results, you get more or less faction points rewards (some goldtoo, i think 1/4th of thefaction points count)

you can do repeatable quests, each of which yields u 400 faction. the famous Supply Runs are in this category. you can complete quest, rezone, pick up again and complete again.

theoretically you can fight at AspenWood or Jade quarry, however im YET to see this happen, as there is noonethere most of the time, and no opposing party either..

or you can do alliance battles. an npc at ur guildhall can take u there. Im a bit new, as i only did 2-3 just yesterday, but its A BLAST. im not usually someone that enjoys pvp, but this surely has me hooked on right now (a lot of people on myguild too ). the NPC at ur hall takes you to the conflict point (depending on the position of that line that splits kurzick/luxon territory). you make parties of 4 people each, and for each side, 3 such parties enter the battle. sofar ive played on a battle where the mission was to capture some shrines and hold them as long as you can.

as a max faction in less time, i think running supplies beats all (competitive missions used to yield1.2k easily, even if you were afking-henchmen ftw, now its barely 400-500).

hope this helps
