Right?

Am I right?
What exactly quickly and easily conveys the message that the unranked, guildless pve guy understands those concepts when he is spamming LFG?

Since there is no way to know ahead of time whether or not any particular person understands aggro and other pve concepts your best bet is to go with the r6 A/W over the unranked, guildless A/W if given that choice. It's just more likely to be a better bet.

Exactly the same thing the guy flashing the emote conveys... nothing.

Rank or lack thereof tells you nothing of someone's capabilities in PvE. That Rank 6 bugger you're inviting may have gotten that by IWaying for the last couple months and may have three months total experience. My unranked assassin is backed by a years worth of PvE play, primarily Ranger and Mesmer characters which also require experience and practice to run properly.

let ppl form groups how ever they want. Its known that rank really doesnt mean anything in pve (except that MAYBE MAYBE hes a good "team player") Just let them do their thing. Like you said they came back 4 times, guess it doesnt mean anything. If it bothers you just leave the district or get your group and go. if you wanna stay a lil bit turn the local chat off for a while, no bigey.
This has been seen in chapter1 many times so its no surprise to me.

And how is anyone making a group supposed to know that?

There is definitely alot of this #### going as of late in the mission towns,
and I just crack-up whenever I see someone say "Forming group of total
idiots that want to die fast" right after a bunch of "forming elite rank
group" messages, so funny.......
But like someone mentioned earlier, if I don't get in a group in 10-15 mins,
I grab the henchies and give it a try, I usually try most misions first with
henchies anyway just to get a little familiar with the mission.

Firstly, exactly how likely do you think it is that a PvE only player has more useable experience than a PvP player. Both sets will have completed the game with 2+ characters, and will have learned all the basics. Most PvE only players will then go on to farm after that using solo and specialist (b/p in tombs, trappers in uw, etc) builds given to them here on gw guru, for hours on end. The PvP player will get to learn the skillbars of most builds, admittedly pvp and copied from here, but trying to get to rank 3 and testing out everything in your frustation and trying a whole variety of your own ideas gives you much greater knowledge of the advantages, disadvantages and effects of combinations of skills than farming the same mobs with the same build continuously, at least that was the case in my experience. The only people that will fall outside this are people who clear out fow, uw and sorrows furnace with balanced builds. The balance of PvE player time between playing farming builds and a 'balanced' build I dont know. But in my estimation it swings fairly high to the farming builds edge and I think thats the feeling of most PvP players. And then again you dont exactly know how much PvE experience this player has had, maybe there should be a time played title converted from the /age command.

Second point, why is everyone getting so uptight about rank only teams. If someone gets pissed off with you and flashes a rank emote at you hes just a retard, retards will be everywhere, and theres no excuse for it. But I can see many players just want to go into some tough missions with players that have a similar level and area of experience as themselves. Rank doesnt mean your better than anybody else, it just means there is a really high chance of a base level of competency and that is why theyre doing it.

Finally, we were all unranked once. What did we do? We went into unranked teams. OK rank isnt supposed to be and wasnt used for PvE, but why aren't people just joining players with a similar outlook as themselves, less chance of running into elitist ranktards like you just mentioned. And considering your arguments you wouldnt even want to join such a team because their PvP experience leaves them at a disadvantage to PvE heavy players. So why is an advert in local chat bothering you so much, there are hundreds of adverts that dont apply to you, ie all the ones advertising for classes that doesnt include yours, unless you happen to be a monk .

Id always henchie my way through and when I would need human players for mission objectives Id take/join randoms. I just dont like this hate attitude that always seems to be going aroung from unranked to ranked players. I'll probably get a few flames back for this but: it seems like you all want to join these ranked teams because you cant trust all unranked players to do their job in a team, otherwise why would an advert, 1 of many, in local chat hurt yous so much? (This point excludes idiots who flash emotes to put across they are better than everyone else.)

anyway there is some team who dont use voice communication on HA/Tomb , normally korean team.

1) i dont get the connection from what i said and the first part of your reply...
anyway.
If i make a pvp group i require people use vent , i prefer people who have also a mic. if someone say he cant join in vent i just ask him to leave.

this is not becouse im an ass , i just think the voice program increase greatly the team effort , fun and global experience. Sure sometime there some guy who become excessive angry and yell to other player , but since im the leader i just kick them ...

this will maybe leave some people , but its my style of playing.

I had a pretty weird runon with a PvPer in PvE content the other night. This person was from a pretty high ranking guild I won't mention but most of you probably have heard of.

Using Charge! as their elite in the Imperial Sanctum mission, charging past mobs leaving two of our members to get stuck behind while the alliend NPC's die. Just poor reckless leadership that felt like I was being pushed in a HoH match rather than doing a mission.

Don't bring charge into PvE mission areas. Charge is a great skill in PvP and especially GvG along with a few other things. Bring an attack or defensive skill. I hate telling people how to play but it just struck me as funny. There are some better warrior elites you can bring than Charge. I personally am enjoying Dragon Slash.

He/she also got mopped by Slivering Armor. Although I think he/she was a good player none the less, took PvE a little lightly and that caused more problems than it should have (especially being the leader). In the end we redid the mission, made a few adjustments and got all 3 bonuses.

Plus theres also people who are high rank who still may not be that great. And there are those who are high rank, and very skillful players. Even alot of top ranked guild players/HoH players agree that Fame/Rank does not always amount to skill.

I don't have the most PvP experience, but some, I enjoy GvG primarily. I mostly play PvE in the meantime and think im a fairly good player. I know pretty much what each mob is prone to do, what each skill does, know when to retreat when the sheit hits the fan. Theres also gimmicks you can use in PvE that don't work in PvP, such as knocking down a caster, as soon as they get up they will try to cast a spell almost always, so if timed right you can interrupt even .25 cast times.

I hate Heroes Ascent, it's boring, restricting and too gimmicky.

Also I don't know what kind of groups you guys get but going through the game again with my warrior with nothing but PUG's was the easiest crap I've ever done. Maybe I was lucky but I only failed on the Imperial Sactum mission, while getting alot of bonuses on previous missions. Completed every mission prior and after with no trouble whatsoever. Sorry if this all sounds condescending but I think the factions missions are really too easy.

rank was ruined in pve to me when i was in a group with an assasin that would run into the miasma and aggro tons of afflicted, then yell at us healers for not healing him fast enough. we told him it was his own fault, and he should let the tanks tank, and then he starts ranting about how he calls for r9 spikes. after that, he was ranked very low on our heal priority list XD

Damn, can you say Deja Vu?

The same arguments with the same cut and paste responses. I swear, I've seen some of the same people make the same exact tit for tat arguments elsewhere in another thread.

On Factions release, I noticed something very funny in Vizunah Square:

"Rank 6 Well Spammer LFG!"

I'm not sure what's more pathetic: Flashing your rank in a PvE Area, or flashing your rank WHILE SAYING THAT YOU ARE A WELL SPAMMER.

Doing both at the same time just makes him more pathetic then he already is

Anyways, I'm sure this PvE rank requirement will pass soon enough, because it's not doing it's intended job. In the meantime, use henchies.

Just my thoughts on the subject.
1. I've been playing since August now, killed Shiro tonight (with a PUG) my Minion Master has over 1,200,000 exp, FoW armor and so on. Does this make me better than anyone else? No. I am still learning things, and come to this board regularly to see if anyone has had any new ideas.

2. I am rank 1. Do I care?? Kinda, I think it would be neat to have a fame emote. Does rank mean you're better than anyone else?? No. Check EBay. I have seen accounts ranked as high as 9 for sale there. If anyone can buy a ranked account, it takes the meaning of the rank system away.

3. I don't farm. I find it boring. I do have over 500k gold, but does that mean anything?? No. Gold can also be bought on EBay. For me, spending real money on game money is not a smart investment.

4. There are more assassins than you can shake a stick at in the game right now (including Quanah Tayanita, my assassin) As stated in other threads, the vast majority of assassins think they are tanks. I am not above inviting one to my group because I know there are some who are trying to learn the class, as I am.

5. Unlike alot of folks, I did not get my FoW armor to try to show I am better than anyone else. I got it cause I think it looks cool on my Necro.

6. I like Pugs. I've met some good people and have been in some awesome pugs. The pug I was in tonight beat the last two missions of Factions effortlessly. I was surprised at how quick Shiro fell.

And finally... I feel that people who brag about how 7331 (or whatever that is) they are feel they have to make up for something they lack. Kinda like a guy who brags that his penis is huge probably has a little bitty winkie. To me, the more you brag and the more you flash some emote, the less likely you are to be in my group.

The point is not to know if the majority of ranked PvPers are also good in PvE or not. As said since the beginning of this thread, the problem, and what makes this ridiculous is the confusion between PvE titles and PvP titles.

No, PvPers are NOT PvE noobs. Some of them are. But it's not a fatality. Many PvPers are also great PvEers, and the fact that we all have been partying with a PvP idiot feeling superior and very proud of his bambi won't change that.

On the other side, statements like: PvPers are superiors, PvEers are just half a player for they havent explored half of the game (the PvP part), or other FALSE statements like: you need to be a PvPer to know your skills and be able to use at least 2 different builds ; PvEers can't make a build, they just pick them on forums while of course PvPers invent new builds every day ; etc...

It's not about being against PvPers or PvEers, which would be really stupid since a damn lot of PvPers are also PvEers and vice-versa. Again, this thread is about how stupid the confusion between PvP distinction and PvE distinction is.

Someone earlier posted that there is no way to know how good a random player is, so he would use the rank to decide. That's the point. Indeed, most of the time it's impossible to know if the guy who wanna join your team is good or not. So players use stuff like ranks to decide wether they'll accept this player or not. But it's based on nothing. It's like accepting someone who is good at basketball in a football team.

Most people spamming their rank when LFG are not bragging, they are simply trying to get a group as quickly as possibly. Flashing the emote is unnecesary, but hating on people for advertising their rank in their message to get a party is pretty lame.

I've said it before, if most folks had the opportunity to cut in half the amount of time it takes to find a decent pug by simply adding "r6" to their LFG message, they would be doing it too.

To Lasher Dragon, How the hell what? If you're asking about my gold, that's simple. I'm a loot hoe. lmao

To Dzan, simply stating your rank or flashing the emote is enough. When I speak of bragging, I am speaking of occasions such as last Wednesday, when a particular person felt that just because he had rank, he could harrass our group leader in whisper, saying 'I'm rank 6, you should kick **** to make room for me' and following her around, continuously flashing thier emote in her face, then calling her a noob because she chose not to take him into the group. I understand simply trying to set yourself apart from the multitudes, but to make a jerk out of yourself is another matter.

Lol i like the way PvE-ers think PvPers dont have any clue about PvE. LOL, First off just because some people decided to get some rank that doesnt mean they suck at PvE. Playing with ranked people in Factions was great, managed to finish the game in one week.

I look at those threads , with people stuck at missions and stuff, i never had this problem once, most of the missions got 3 swords because yes i was looking for ranked people.

PvPers worked hard to get their rank , i dunno what PvE-ers worked hard to get?. I managed to get FoW not with farming but with winning halls with firends/guildies and sometimes PuGs , i gained XP in this game and money.

I dont care make your own Un-Ranked team but dont throw dirt at people who worked hard getting ranked at some level.
