As posted in another topic, I refuse to use titles based on your rank, as titles were supposed to be PvE rewards. Instead, I stick on my Cartographer title untill I finally get this damned drunkard title More, I will NEVER invite or accept a guy spamming "Rank xxx lfp" in my team, as I wont accept stupid players spamming stuff like "15k armor/fow armor/ranger with spider/etc. lfp". Idiocy shouldn't be encouraged. Let's just laugh at them. They're ridiculous.

On a side note, I've completed the second mission gathering 2 teams (cant remember the name) with 15 henchies yesterday (no other team had joined so I partied with a second team full of henchies) in exactly 9 mins when I died during my 2 first attempts with uber-noobs very proud of showing their bambi rank.

I'm not saying being ranked means you're a PvE newb, that's just wrong. But I'm saying that 1/ titles should have remained PvE rewards as it was originally planed, and 2/ ranks is PvP stuff; being headed enough to claim some kind of superiority because of it in PvE is just stupid.

Whats worst than a whiner in Prophecies, a whiner in Factions. Let the rank people make their rank groups, and you make YOUR OWN GROUP.

look at the bright side..now you know which groups not to join:

"LFP RANK >4 only!!"

to me thats says "We are PvP and our skill bars are set up that way, so prepare to fail a mission."

I've done most of factions with henchies except for a few of the mission towns. Anyways I wanted to come to the defense of any newbies out there.

I always see groups saying, 'looking for experienced players' 'no nubs' (everytime I hear someone say 'nub' I want to stab them in the face) but as far as I'm concerned I'll take a raw newb who has had the game for a day over some arrogant know it all jackass that has played for a year as long as they're willing to listen a bit when it comes to handling certain situations. I think if you give them a chance you'll find that most of them will listen and take things at an appropriate pace because they're trying to learn the game.

I was a newbie once and relied on people in my pugs to teach me the game and show me what skills to take and I'd imagine that's true for just about everyone. So don't ignore the newbs or get all pissy at them if they don't take a vital skill the first time, just show them some patience because odds are when you were new some people showed you the same respect.

Anyways, just my 2 cents, you new players are always welcome in my groups

I have no rank, never been in HoH, so not familiar with all PvP stuff, so

with the new titles system you can see what rank someone is if they choose to list said title.

The rank-flashing in GW PVE is nothing new. I wish they had some kind of emotes for the PVE titles, just so I could go to the PVP areas and flash my "I'm a Raging Drunk Who Has Stumbled Into 90% of Tyria" emote, and then flex and ask "So, which one of you noobs wants to be on the winning team with me?"

BTW: I am horrible at PVP, I have no problem with that. Now, if rangers had Barrett 50-cals I might be a bit more interested.

Off topic, I really want that title on my monk.

Back on topic, I wouldn't worry about those looking for rank 3, 8, or 56. I don't stay in town long enough to see the "GLF rank 3 whatever for whatever quest" or "Rank 6 whatever LFG for stuff to do". Go with people you know or substitute with henchies, at least that way you know what to expect.

As a rule of thumb, a regular GW player who's gone through PvE at least once, experienced some high-end content, and dove into some HA/GvG up to getting rank 3/6, will most likely be an excellent addition to a PvE team. No matter how much millions of xp your average farmer has: that "PvPer" will find monster AI pretty basic and, unless you require him some kind of specific task (e.g. 55'ing) he'll perform well in any situation.

But please pay attention to what comes in my sentence before "getting to rank 3/6": that's what matters the most, since rank itself nowadays means very little (HA's a joke lately). Asking for titles or rank in PvE is highly despicable (and I don't like it in PvP either), as you can easily determine if someone is a good player by simply talking to him.

They probally think it's cool to boast about. Yes, i do think you will get a better team if you ask +3 ranks on your team. No, i don't like this idea, because there also a lot good players without ranks, that can't play in such teams. Also i think there is nothing wrong to play with socalled n00bs. Try to be a teacher to them. Tell them how things are to be done. Now if these beginners are actually also retarted then just .. give up on them.. :X

Its been my experience that the higher the rank in tombs/HA the less patience is there for pve - note this does not equal low skill...it means lack of interest. This is 100% fine, respect for going the distance through what I consider drudgery. More power to you all, especially when you win us favor
There IS however the corps of ebay ranked 'elite'... and those that got it themselves by doing one build over and over...proves nothing except that you like to hurt yourself or have more money than sense. If you NEED rank to do pve? you clearly have some 'issues' that cannot be solved by the almighty emote. Just my $0.02.
I left a skill capping group once after the 'leader' a curses Necro who litterally demanded that I bring natures renewal and then bitched me out for 'messing him up' and the flashed his shiny new bambi - I regrouped with the other 6 players and out we went again.

I don't normally advertise my rank when trying to get a group but look at it this way...

You zone into a district and see if you can get a group with your A/W or rt/mo. Looking around you see there are 20 other A/W in the district and 10 more rt/mo. Aside from these two classes there are 2 W/Mo and 1 monk and a random Ele. You chances of getting a good balanced group is slight.

What can you do to set yourself apart from all the other A/W LFG? Well if you are Rank 6, that certainly helps. It simply helps to get noticed and get groups faster.

From another perspective. You are a level 20 monk/mesmer. You zone into Vizunah Square and get bombarded by 20,000 invites. You realize the easiest way to get a good group is to form one yourself. You say, "Monk Starting Group LF Everything." Instantly 15 A/W want to join your group. Who are you going to take your chance with? The guildless A/W, or the rank 9 A/W from a top guild? I think that choice is pretty simply as to who I'd take.

For all the people complaining about people advertising their rank, I assume if you were highly ranked, you would advertise it to get groups too.

sure you would use it, but would the same person demand from his fellow members to have that same rank also? Not for me, for you?

advertising is fine
anything sets you apart is cool, but there are those that go the extra step and attempt to set themselves above just because of rank. It proves what in halls? and less than that in pve, a rank 0 who knows the mission is infinitely more valuable in a mission group than a rank 12 who is only doing the game for unlocks and couldnt care less. But that DOES go both ways.
This IS all old news tho. Thankfully the A/W overabundance is getting better (less) everyday also.

If we only recruit guildies with fame, only pvp with famous players and now finally, only pve with famous players, we will surely ensure that this dangerous influx of new players will end.

Viewpoint B:

Well, there's a lot of experienced PvE players who never set foot in an arena. Anyway, the game is about having fun with people and it is only a game. If you get stuck with the archetypal "lame rushing noob", well it doesn't happen often and if it's a genuine noob (not just a poor player) then a bit of advice will help your group, help the newbie and perhaps net you a useful addition to your online contacts and maybe even guild in the long term.

I think I'll just start advertising as follows:

LFP 4 mission. Sense of humour, tolerance and common decency required.
I agree with you 100%. If we don't help the new players this game is going to be dead soon. The new blood is going to get bored because nobody wants to form a team.

I don't bother to invite anyone that displays their Hero title in PvE.

If they're Rank elitists, then why even bother partying with them? We all know Rank means nothing in PvE, they might be worse than new players.

Obviously the non-ranked PvE player that knows aggro, PvE skill sets and the like over the ranked PvPer (and PvE noob) that doesn't remember what that circle means or why his skills aren't the best in the current situation.

Right?

Am I right?

This is obviously the same thing, reverse rank discrimination heh... yet even more pointless. Someone has a sense of humor, invite, cool armor dye job? invite, its EXACTLY the same as an emote (emote spammage is a lil different imo) something to set yourself apart from the crowd.

'two wrongs don't make a right, but 3 lefts do'
