Default So, luxon supply run got killed?

From guilwars.com:
Update - Friday May 19
# Adjusted the difficulty of the following repeatable quests: Luxon Supply Lines, The Jade Arena, and Duel of the Houses.
# Improved the skill set of Kurzick NPCs.
# Improved the skill set of Creeping Carp.

Seems that Anet is once again practicing their 'read my lips'- policy (We have nothing against farming) but to be this conspicuous? The easy but oh so monotonous quest just got severely gimped.

I observed the following:
Kurzicks now spawn exactly at the same places and few meters before you actually reach them. Creeping carps use siphon speed and wild strike. Kurzick assassins now have dark prison. And if you manage to make it to the end the quartermaster is being attacked by 2 scuttle fishes and you cant talk to him before they're killed.

So how are you dealing with this? Feeling down or gloating when the farmers got shafted again? Already trying to overcome the problem? Maybe even succeeded? I personally concluded that it was no longer reliably doable with my Rt so it's buhbye for now. I'm not holding grudge or anything since I predicted something like this would eventually happen. It's a pity tho that I couldn't finish my assassin set. Jadeite is probably going to get a bit more pricey too so stock up before the word gets out.

Live your life, eat your cake.

yea i stocked up last night when the price was low and bought a load for 1k a piece, woke up today to find the price back up to 1.8k and made myself a nice little profit.

Had to be nerfed though was stupidly easy way of getting faction quick.
Shame they didnt do something sooner as maybe then the price of owning cavalon wouldnt be near 12million faction!

i'd imagine anyone with some decent damage and some run skills can still do this easily.

Unfortunately it means no more supply runs for my monk *sighs*

I tried it post-nerf, 1 ranger runner and henchies as fodder. Now it is quasi-impossible. At the end, you need to kill 2 scuttlefish (monks), so it is unlikely for a single runner.

Fighting thru with henches takes forever; not worth 400 faction.

I've been giving this some thought. Maybe it could still be doable with a W/Me or W/Mo. Since both have good selection of hex removal (dual inspired hex ftw) dark prison and siphon speed are no problem (too bad the mesmers can power spike 1 sec cast spells). Wild strike is nasty but since it's off-hand you can counter it or the lead attack with deadly riposte or shield bash. Fishes aren't that hard you can probably beat them down. Only issue I see is that your skills all consume quite much energy along the way (focus is recommended).

Too bad my warrior still has ways to go before she sees Cavalon so all this is purely speculative for now. Fight the Man and share your experiences.

time to do Zos Shivros for faction =) tried it last night... was surprised at how (relatively) easy it was to earn faction.

i think it is the one where you have to protect the priest for as long as possible.
i lasted 5 minutes first go with henchies and got around 250 faction, only had about 9 points i think.
Good one for trapping as the priest just stays in one place so i just kept laying traps all around him, would be even easier with some friends to rack up a good faction score.

Its not killed...just harder

I soloed it last night right after the update (I might have a screenshot..I'll have to look). Anyways...the first part is mostly the same...I use a Warrior with Sprint, Charge, and Balanced Stance. The only problem is the end. 1 in about every 4 runs, the Kurzicks will drop right on the Quartermaster. You can't beat this by yourself. The other 3 out of 4 times, all you will have to do is kill the Scuttle Fish and maybe a Creeping Carp. Its harder, but still doable. I'll go look for that screenshot now

EDIT: I found it, but there is no way to prove that it was taken after the update If you want, I can post it later.

I hate to sound like an ass, but havn't you noticed how much more Amber is worth because their repeatable is so much harder?

This quest was genuinely unbalanced. If my slow-arse can figure it out in one try, you know it's easy. It was, simply put, too easy, and severly unbalanced from the Kurzik side. I was expecting this as well, and I won't be sad to see it go.

On another note, have you guys tried killing the mobs around the area before accepting the quest? That would make it a lot easier for those that are just doing this to get up to that 10k faction mark.

I have noticed that...I also noticed that Jade jumped up about 500g after the update. This may help out the economy a bit.

Did they improve it then? 90 points a couple days ago only got me around 50 faction.

But still lags way behind when compared to running...
