Default Warrior Armour Suggestions

Hi All ,

I have a general purpose PvE Warrior I am about to buy 15k armour for.
Obviously I don't want to make a mistake when spending this much.
What are your thoughts on

Helm , Str +1
Chest , Sentinel (since you get hit here the most)
Boots , Knights (damage reduction)
leggings and Gauntlets , Gladiator (nice to have a bit more energy )

Comments ?

Hmm...I have full Sentinel's with Knights for the boots. I take very little damage from melee and ranged attacks. I like it a lot, however it can be a pain keeping up the req 13 str or using it during energy heavy builds.

No matter what you do, be sure to get at least one piece of Knights.

Your idea is good, because most spells target the chest, so the Sentinel's will come in handy for that. However, it would probably be a good idea to just get the armor that works best for your build. If you have more than one build, then consider getting the 15k set for what you use most and pick up some 1.5k for your other builds.

imho if you are talking Kurzick, 15k looks worse than 1.5 excluding the helm, Female's 15k is better than the 1.5 for looks. Lux Male 1.5 is butt ugly while 15 is pretty.

2 sets of armor is good,
i have
5 helms
2Chest Peices
3Gloves
3Leggings
3 Boots

its all for the time of the build glads for farming Sentinels for missions and looking cool, LT Helm, Asc. Helm, and 3 weapon helms

Chest: Glads
Gloves: Stoneskins... just in case
leggings: Glads
Boots: Knights

Thanks all for the feedback. I was planning on going Male 15k Luxon (It will use up all my cash - but thats what its there for ) so it will be a compromise , bit of farming / missions

However I didn't consider it "pretty" - I'm a bit turned off it now - how can I intimidate my foes it I'm looking "pretty" - should I dye it pink too

I've got 2 female warriors and my sets are these:

Tyrian:

Various Helms
Glad Chest
Stonekin Gauntlets
Glad Leggings
Knight Boots

Canthan:

Various Helms
Sentinel Chest, Gauntlets and Leggings
Knight Boot

The real problem is in Cantha I have still not seen any nice armor for a female warrior, I'm waiting to see Luxon's.

Female luxon 1.5k is really nice in my mind, while the 15k version is ugly. It seems to be the contrary for male armors...

I use swords and axes mostly thats why my helms are always either the tactics or strength ones.

I know that the weapon ones are better but if I get a +1 sword then if I want to use an axe I need to get another helm for +1 axe. If that is for my 15k luxon armor that means another 15k +jade and material and another slot in my inventory. Now you can say, just buy cheap ones from droknar but I hate mixing and matching and I do not like the hide the helm on the warrior option. Most warrior armors have huge sholders and the head looks really small without a helm.

For ch1, the last armor I bought was the 15k glads with fow tactics helm.

As for ch2, I have full 15k luxon glads with tactics helm.
and a full 15k canthan sentinel with strength helm.

Helm: Strength or Tactics rune
Chest: absorbtion rune
Arms: sword rune
Pants: axe rune
Boots: vigor rune

if you ask me, go in for a gladiator chestpiece. it does add a healthy chunk of energy. sentinels only feature is 20 al vs elemental, and you need to keep high str all the time.. its not worth it to me, as sooner or later youll decide u actually want ur attribute spread less strength-dominated.

its also useful if u have helms to switch. i got 6 me thinks

Thanks fb , I hadn't realised Glads added +20 vs physical aswell as the energy.
So as you say that means Sentinel is just adding 20 for situations against elemental.
I agree the +3 energy and ability to drop Strength is going to be more useful more often than the elemental protection

I'll go with Glads chest , thanks

Actually, Sentinels is AL100 against everything unless your strength falls below 13. For those of us running a strength build, it's sweet. And with a major absorb rune on the chest, seems like the best of all worlds.

I have the Tyrian (mixed between Sentinel and Dreadnaught) for the extremely odd chance I'll switch over to a tactics build. Otherwise, Canthan Sentinel cuirass and Shing Jea everything else with a set of gloves for each weapons type, properly runed.

As for energy, instead of a shield, I put a max focus (rit secondary) and run half energy skills, half adrenal. Very rarely run dry of energy and don't really miss the puny AL16.

I'm preparing to get Kurzick armor for Ruby....something about the steel g-string and fishnet stockings screams attitude to me .

Im sorry to have to inform you that some of your conceptions are wrong

with the "only 20 vs elemental" i was discussing its advantage vs our pretty much warrior-default Gladiator armor (imho the vast majority is/should be using gladiator). Gladiator has +20al vs physical, hence, it has 100al vs physical, and you also receive the energy bonus, which for me tips the scales towards Gladiator armor.

as for the absorption, it is NOT related to where you have it, the dmg reduced is not situational. personally i have my sup absorp on my boots (ascalon/knights). i still get the dmg reduction even if im hit in the head. this has been proved already

why wouldnt you use a shield?? puny 16 al you might say, but that is roughly the difference to the armor u recommend.. gladiator +shield = 96 vs ele / 116 vs physical , whereas sentinel used without a shield is 100/100.. Also you actually have LESS energy (unless u meet your offhand req, or use a +15/-1 offhand) than the gladiator +shield.

on top of that, shields can and do come with stuff like -2dmg enchant/stance, ++hp

energy offhands should be used pretty much when you run out of energy. I use a storm artifact +15/-1 +30hp when i play w/e shock warrior in pvp once i run out of energy. but only then, sacrificing your shield is not wise imo.. unless youre playing with hammer..

keep in mind this is what i think, and the facts i do state might be a bit off, but the ideas are there

Well, I think the best thing to do is just to figure out whether or not the build you use requires that extra energy. If so, get Gladiator's + Knight's boots. If not, get Sentinel's + Knight's boots, or Dreadnaught's + Knight's boots if your Strength will not be at least at 13. The difference in armor level between Sentinel's/Dreadnaught's and Gladiator's is small, true, but the difference in energy (8) is not exactly the biggest deal ever either. It really just depends on your build.

well, best would be to have all armor types in your storage (/inv) and just pick the ones u need

as a general use armor tho, i still think gladiator is best. personally i got no other armor than glads (not counting gloves and helms). it offers most flexibility

DUH! the best armor is where you show the MOST SKIN!... 15k female glads FTW!.. still the best armor in the game..

have your superiors in your helm so that you are more versitile and can swap between weapon types as needed.

executioners helm + sup axe rune
dualists helm + sup sword rune
dwarven helm + sup hammer rune

Gladiators Chest + superior vigor
Stoneskin Gauntlets (this is really for pvp players doing pve.... but stoneskins should matter for the most part in pve) + minor tactics
Gladiatiors Leggings + superior absorbtion
Knights boots + minor strength

in my opinion if your looking to make a warrior DONT USE SUPERIORS (excluding vigor and absorbtion)... tanks are tanks because they can tank... if that made any sense then you know by reducing your health by 75.... you are killing your tanking ability for a few more dmg. Especially for PvP. Though it may appear that doing as much damage is possible is the key, its is crucial that the warriors are the wall of damage takers so the casters dont die... whether it be in VoD or in regular gameplay.

Thanks All ,

I think I'll make my 15k luxon Glads (I've brought the knights boots and a str +1 helm already but the rest will be Glads when I get the funds)
I might get 1.5k Kurz full Sentinel at a later date

I noticed that the knights boots say "reduces damage (non stacking)" does this mean I have to put my absorption rune on another body part ?
It looks like I don't have too - if thats the case what is it non stacking with ?

Thanks again for all the input

9 times out of 10, somones gonna tell you to get full glads with the exception of one piece of either ascalon or knights armor.
