Default Problem with Barrage in the City?

I and a number of my guildies have noticed that the timing of Barrage and some other archer skills seems to be just a bit off while in the city in Cantha. It seems to clear up a bit when outside in the luxon or kurzik sides or back in Tyria. It is as if there is a slight lag all the time between the recharge, the time I hit the button and the animation for launching the arrows. I am usually using Drago's flat under FW.

Anyone experiencing this?

Yes. Not with barrage, because my Canthan ranger doesn't have it yet, but with other skills, like Focused shot. I'll hit the button, and it'll dim and churn a little before anything actually happens.

Occasionally I get that with warrior attack skills in the FoW. I think its just due to high ping, and the city is very power-hogging on your computer/connection.

Thanks for the responses. I will try lowering my graphics quality by one notch and see how it responds. I thought it might be a matter of traffic, but that city is a memory hog!

Yeah, kaineng pwns me due to it's demand on my connection. I always lag there. I'll be hitting savage shot or something else and It won't do crap. sometimes i'm a ranger and I'll attack someone, but instead just run up to them. it's pretty frustrating.

The problem with hitting a skill and it not actually activiating is annoying too. I have noticed it usually when I am stuck behind another character or up against an invisible wall. I usually just strafe a few steps and I can do it again.

Lowering my res seemed to help a bit, might try another notch though.

I've noticed that I experience more "lag" when playing rangers than with other chars. I'm not sure it has anything to do with my connection, since what type of prof I'm playing shouldn't make a difference. I'm wondering if the calculations the game is making for the arc of arrows, etc., is just incredibly slow. I've also noticed that I'm sometimes told that my view of the target is obstructed when they're standing right in front of me and definitely visible. It seems to happen when either myself or the opponent is on an incline or decline. Definitely a bug there.

The city suffers a lot from the "phantom" enemy as well, more than other places I have noticed. An enemy will suddly be standing right in front of you. If you attack, you move past them and into range and are attacking where they are, not where they were showing.

The phantom enemy thing can be hilarious. All of a sudden you're up close and personal with an opponent...then you're not. Or the henchies are in a circle pounding away on...nothing, but something keeps yelping.

The "your view is obstructed" problem isn't limited to the city. It usually happens to me when I'm standing at a different level than the opponent (even when the difference is small) or when the opponent is up against a surface.

The same thing has happened to me on UW with my 55hp.

Grasping group attacking me. Prot starts blinking. I hit PS....

Nothing, I start spamming PS...

Nothing. BOOM, I´m dead

The problems stopped when I got a better comp so it is just common lag.

Not just common lag, I got a brand spanking new computer in late December, and know what to look for in a computer. The zone is resource heavy, moreso than other areas. I am sure there are times when other areas can become resource heavy (as you said with the graspings), and I have seen that. But just being in the city, this is a chronic problem with just about every group I encounter.

Every once in awhile I notice I can't use any bow skills until I switch and switch back.
