I share rez-is-a-wasted-slot attitude. If my team gets wiped out, it is time to look for a new team.

EDIT: fixed obvious stupidity on my part.
ress are needed , shit happen.

sometime the monk are eating a delicius cake, sometime they lag , sometime a aggro dont work well etc etc etc.

i dont like throw 1 hour of time becouse i didnt taken a ress

you do if you want to get past first room... Ofcourse you can be a freeloader after that, but that would be the last time you are taken into that group.

that means you have to actually manage your energy...
I play renewal nuker and energy is like the last thing that bothers me.

I agree with Ira

tho i haven't been with my ele to the deep yet, been there often with my monk and my warrior.. first room take a lot longer if the ele has not enought firepower..

energy is not much of a concern there.. i may get a bit low on energy on the first room, but after that I have dual attunments and renewall, so except from exaustion i don't have energy problems, and don't forget there is allways a BiP or br in the team, so it's easy to manage energy.

as for inspired/revealed, i agree that is an essencial skill for the deep, it will depend on who else is bringing it.

Rez i still think it's a waste, I take it with my warrior (W/Me) and rarely have to use it.. most of the times i don't need it.

Still the point remains you can not be effective damage dealer as an ele w/o prophecies skills. It might have been expressed in a wrong way, but it is true. Elementalist is like the worst choice for the factions only character.
true, so true.

and eles need serious buffs in the ch3 cos theres a little reason to start ele now...

kd skill is for the aspect, and as a warrior i've never had any prob with aspect on first room.. rippers are far more slow to kill, since they keep blinding.. with a renewall/archane echo meteor shower, that is done much faster..

back on the topic, tho i haven't tried many ele factions skills, but i noticed that when i have an ele with me using factions aoe skills, mobs tend to scatter and makes me loose aggro control..

I believe Factions is a stand-alone game, as in you can still access Tyria even if you've only bought Factions.
That said, I don't expect you to immediately rush to Tyria to get a skill just because some grief-ing elitist yells at you, but I'll tell you Meteor Shower is easy to get.
I was irate that it wasn't available in Cantha because I wanted it for my Canthan Ele, so when I couldn't find it I went to Lion's Arch and then took henchman to a place called the Ascalon Settlement, which is in North Kryta (the country which Lion's Arch belongs to).
So, if you ever want to get Meteor Shower, it's simple. Maps are available, or you can just PM me (IGN: Arial Fertuna) and I'll get you there.

err i might be reading this wrong, but i think u are saying u can access Tyria if u only have Factions..
If u only have factions u can't go to tyria, that requires an account with both GW:Prophecies and Factions

Stand Alone = Don't need other games

Stand Alone =/= Has all of Prophecies + Factions content

I think we got off topic a bit. The brunt of this thread has become a rant on the elementalist. I think the point to this thread is to pay attention to what is being asked for during the building of the team and to not try and pass yourself off as something you are not. I will never join a team unless I know what is expected from me and usually ask the leader "Any skill requests?" If I don't have what they want, I tell them and they can either deal with it, or kick me from the group. At least they know going into battle what to expect.

Incidentally, I have two ele's, one from Tyria and one from Cantha. I have worked forward with the Tyrian and backwards (to some degree) with the Canthan. Both are forces to be reckoned with that cause MASSIVE amounts of damage over the duration of the battle. I even have methods around skills that protect those pesky PvE assassins that no one else can cast on. I have roasted many of these over an open fire. I have even used the solo Ele Tank build for farming, and it works great. So, don't discount the Ele's.

Now, on the topic of the nerfed Firestorm, it has a use when squisheys get too far into the aggro. FS can save lives if cast over a Mez, Monk, or other low armor class that are being ganged if for nothing else BUT to make the critters run "like gerbils on meth". Another point to FS is that as long as the enemy is running around in circles, they are extremely unorganized and do less damage to your team. FS also works great for the latter Canthan mission to disperse the dreaded degenerative scale spells cast by the dragon. So, don't rag on FS, it still has its uses.

My best PvE ELE build is half touch based skills which is dangerous, I know this. But, I sometimes kill more enemies than the Uber Tanks. Even so, I see my key contribution to a team as keeping the enemy busy and definately softening them up for others to finish off.

For those of you Ele's without the Tyrian Campaign, buy it------it's worth the trouble to take your Canthan Ele back and gather some of those Tyrian skills. And, for those of you who are ranting on the Ele's, stop and add up the total damage done by the ele's distance AoE and up close and personal touch AoE skills. I think you will see that the total damage done is a lot higher than you think.

There are always certain characters and certain builds that handle specific PvE areas better than others. To believe otherwise would simply be naive. A GoR meteor shower ele provides a level of damage and disruption that other eles cannot provide. Its hardly elitist, its a fact.

Other missions you can certainly play almost any build you like and still be successful but the people that do lengthy missions like Urgoz and the Deep cannot afford a whole lot of build deviations because each one adds a chunk of time onto the mission completion. More time means more afks, disconnections, error=7's, deaths, and basically a higher overall chance of failure.

This is not to say that there is not room for another type of ele in these builds, one that a factions character might be able to play, but I think a factions fire ele would be a pretty poor choice for a substitution. If I didn't have meteor shower and wanted to bring a factions only ele to the deep, I probably would have built an energy boon based heal party spammer or perhaps tried earth magic instead for the KDs, blinds, and damage without armor.

I would submit to you that perhaps the warrior was upset with you not so much for not having meteor shower as not having an effective build.

ignore people like that i bet there so stupid they didn't even know you could not get the skill, i play on a tyrian character the most and when i go to cantha i think of my self as a foreigner a tourist or just a priveleged guest, and i treat canthans in tyria exactly the same way as i my self would like to be treated.

if there saying stuff like that, then it proves they have no real intelligence.
