Thumbs up Fiery Djinn quest in Sorrow's Furnace - OMG THIS WAS AWESOME

I just had to say it. Our party was down to 4 people because the others dropped out to goto bed. We got this quest and thought it would be easy like the others. WE WERE SO WRONG.

We got pwned by the djinn. He blasted right through all my prot spells as if they were paper--even with protective spirit on, he would still do 400 points of damage! OMG. At one point we had him stuck in a corner and we all were using wands and bows on him. Unfortunately he regenerated faster than we could damage him.

I assure you, we practiced the art of dying (as the frog once said was need to see all the colors of the world) and we tried many methods to take this beast down. Eventually we found one and we prevailed I don't know if we did it the proper way, but we sure did an interesting way. Mad props to ANet for this clever quest.

What did you do, use the smashy things? I think I found a way to beat it without those, but that was after only two survived XD.

But ya, that 400dmg thing is a drain. You'll notice his hp jump up when he uses it That on top of his high natural health regen. Not something everyone will be prepared for.

I'm confused about all this... I did the quests with henchies and I don't even think he hit us. Seems like he was targeting some random NPC. Maybe I just got lucky. I thought he was an amazing looking enemy though.

when my party fought him, we lead him through the door nearby and closed the gate behind him, he killed the one person that lead him through, and the rest of us nuked him to death.

Default So.

We were doing a quest. Fire something, and we had to kill this Djin..level 28, fiery looking dude. So over this bridge we go.......

"Oh shit here he comes"
"WTF is that"
*gives 200dmg in one hit*
"RUNAWAY RUNAWAY"

So we run, 2 of us survive, the rest were dead...

Took an SS of him attacking 3 level 28 Giants that were guarding a Furnace of somesort, and another lvl 28 (which he is attacking in the picture)

Oh, and he killed all of those without going below half health

man i love sorrows!

He had several different attacks. One did little damage. One did about 200HP damge. One did 400HP damage. These attacks bypassed Protective Spirit so that did not help. When we fought him, he alternated between the 200HP attack and the 400HP attack. He never liked to use his low damage attack. We could only kill him by leading him to the smashers. I don't know why he didn't seem to do alot of damage to others. Of course it did not help that we only had 4 players...

Actually the 400dmg attack is divided beetween the number of opponents close to him when he casts, so if you're alone tanking you take it a FUll 400dmg, if you're 2 you're down to 200dmg, so if you had been 8 i think it would have been easier, and add to taht the fact that the Djinn gets healed when he casts the 400 dmg spell, fat dmg + heal = yum yum

Ah then that explains it. We had 2 tanks, 1 mesmer and 1 monk. So he was doing mega dmg since we weren't all surrounding him at the same time.

Read the full description of "Consuming Flames" which is his skill that pops people for 400. It strips enchantments. From memory the full skill is this:

Consuming Flames:
(Monster skill) Target touched foe loses an enchament. Deal 400 damage divided between touched foe and all adjacent foes. Consuming flames heals damage equal to the amount of damage done to a single foe.

It seems to be a .25 activation time, I tried over and over again to hit it with Cry of Frustration and failed. The Djin spams this and flourish, I'm guessing to recharge it.

Ways to kill this guy (I'm thinking):

Diversion - Close as you can get to an instant win button

Echo+Blackout - The Combo my Warrior/Mes packs, unfortunatly I fought him with with my mes/nec instead :/

Meteor Shower spam - It constantly interupts so that's good, only problem is that he seems to be resistant to fire.

Snares (Water Magic in particular) - since consuming is a touch attack... if he can't touch you...

Protection - Can work but you need cover enchants. Like put down Prot spirit and keep laying guardian over it everytime he uses a Consuming Flames.

Yeah he bypassed all the protections I threw up (Aegis, Prot Spirit, Mark of Protection--this one *might* have been working I don't know, since 400dmg is gonna overload it anyway). Note: the protections were not disenchanted, they simply had no noticeable effect.

Ahh okay if that is the description then I could add these ways:

Prot Spirit + RoF spam or some other covering spammable enchantment to protect the real protection.

Lure him to a crusher (what we did)

Lure him to a pack of other dwarves to help you fight him.

Fire ele + Winter?
