Ice caves with bonus can be done with henchies, if you are already infused or have some good dmg reduction. I've had to back track it after I was infused and as long as I took first agro and only used ranged henchies, all was well.

Divinity coast is probably the most frustrating of all the bonuses, not because it is hard, but because there is sometimes an element that is beyond your control. I know the quick and fast route to get through this mission and the only thing that screws it up is that the 4th villager can be dead before you even get there and have a chance to defend her.

I agree with this and try to find specific groups that could be successful. The two problems with are that sometimes there aren't enough people at the town to be choosy and even if everyone agrees to a strategy people don't actually follow it once in mission.

I have only had problems with THK and Aurora Glade. The rest of the missions in the game have taken 3 or less tries to beat. It is a combination of luck, good PUGs and henchmen.

To add on to my last post, I just grabbed a party full of henchmen and beat THK (with the bonus) with no troubles at all.

Henches are considerably weaker than human players (because they've not got two professions and they usually have funky combinations of skills), but they focus fire and do what you tell them to do.

In all missions in both Tyria and Cantha that is enough. If you can't do a mission with henches, that's because _you've_ farked up - the henches simply do what you tell them to do.

I have two points. My first is that PUG's can be fun but also VERY frustrating. THK is a mission that requires some teamwork. Even if we all agreed to a certain strategy before reaching the fort, 1-2 players would abandon it immediately, get killed and then spam to be resurrected. When someone tried to do that, they also died. Don't be afraid to use henchmen on harder missions because they can do a really good job (they listen to you).

The second point is that when I finally beat the mission, it felt great! If I had paid for that run I would not only be out the money but also would have cheated myself of a great victory. That was the hardest mission for me and beating it is really what the game is all about for me.
Thunderhead Keep is a very easy mission, just like every other Guild Wars mission. Maybe next time you make a character you shouldn't get ran through the game and you should actually learn how to play it.

... man... i got problem with THK way back... cuz all the group are full or morons that can't stay together.. they like to run in and pull 2 mobs on us and get us all killed... and the monks tend to leave group if they get mowed... so i asked a friend, and get a few pointers...
i just put trapping skills, get healers henchies and what-not... get a actual w/mo player... told him he must take things slow and heal the king or we'll die... and voila! we made it there slowly, camped the king... stayed there... didn't even bother with the cats. i find using it bring only more waves of mobs... so... we just stay by the king, and i just keep on spamming traps and wait for all the ugly mobs to come up the steps and get blind, bleed, and BURN!!! i think we beat it in a much shorter period of time than all the time i tried to made through it...
i haven't worked my monk and other warrior through that missions yet...

Reading comprehension FTW. In the post you quoted, he states that he beat the mission easily with henchmen.

Only problem you'll have with THK is getting a group to agree on strategy and staying with it. Strategy should be discussed before entering the misssion, so you don't have 4 people defending the gates and 4 hanging out with the king. With henchies, you don't have that problem. They attack who you attack/target.

Like easyg, I've helped people through THK many times. Attack my called target only and never call, die, or stand next to the king and don't move.

Ice Cave bonus without anyone infused is possible. Just need to sac a few henchies or have someone with the Rit Lord build.

Well wish me luck guys. Once I get home I'll do that mission with henches.
I did it with real people twice and twice we failed. We had communication and strategy problems. If you guys are kind enough to make a short walkthrough with henches will definitely be appreciated.

Lol, the funny thing is that my mesmer joined a random PuG doing THK yesterday, and we got Mission+Bonus. We didn't stay nerf the king, we were using the catapults and running around to each side when there was enemy xD

The mission is pretty much easy until you get to defending the fort against oncoming sieges. If you're going for the bonus, make sure you grab the torch, light the beacon, DROP the torch, and then run to the other one. There'll be another torch waiting for you. I tried running with the torch and was too slow, =(

As for completing the mission, just stay near the king and don't move away. They'll come from either of the two ramps, or the two side walls. It's a natural bottleneck for them, and you shouldn't have too much trouble taking them out with a decent build.

its so hard to organize a pug into a cohesive team for this mission, its better to just sit on the king with a pug, they don't follow directions so anything more complicated is doomed to failure. but its so easy to guard the gates, 4 on each, with a guild group.

i beat the mission a few dozen times on every prof except ranger, for henching it, reccomend barrage, pure interupt (punishing for elite) or a trapper?

To clarify, I did not receive a run nor did I try to get one. If you read my entire post I attempted the missions with many PUGs and failed. I tried with henchmen and succeeded. I only mentioned that people were offering runs and I didn't understand how they could do it.

Also, I am glad that this was such an easy mission for you but it obvious that others have difficulties with it which is why I created this post in the first place.

After henching every mission+bonus prior to THK, I decide to give henching THK keep a shot. All went well untill I got to the fort. You have to light the 2 beacons in less than 30 seconds (not sure if its exactly 30 but its a short period of time). I light the first, dropped the torch, ran for the next. Picked up the 2nd torch, was literally 2 seconds from lighting the 2nd torch and then I get a lag spike and teleport (or "rubberband" as some ppl call it) back to where was standing about 10 seconds ago. I put on sprint and tried to light it but I wasn't in time. So then I just quit. Im trying to get protector of tyria title so its pointless to just do mission and not bonus since they're done at the same time.

Anyways after that I decided I'd give a PUG a shot. First PUG i joined went well untill we got to the fort then there was absolutely no co-ordination between the group. Everyone ran around doing there own thing and naturally we failed. Then I decided to make my own PUG. I had everyone who join the group type out their skill bars and atts to see if they knew what they were doing. If the skillbar looked good I kept 'em. If they were running messed up skill bars I kicked 'em. I had a monk who brought conjure nightmare (factions skill, 25 energy cost, causes 8 degen on target foe. great skill, just not on a monk) so naturally he got the boot. But once I got a team of players that seemed to know what they were doing we breezed through the mission. 1 guy left when we got to the fort but it didn't matter. Nobody died and the mission+bonus was ridiculously easy.

So ya... while henching it is an option (as long as you don't lag spike while doing bonus), PUGing is definately a viable option if you "test" the PUGs to see if they know what they are doing. Sure it took a little longer to form the group but it was definately worth the wait.

I have never had luck with henchies on THK. Alesia won heal me or the king at certain times. The only time i ever came close was when i played as my monk. I much prefer a pug with someone that knows what they are doing. As long as everyoen listens to the exprienced person teh mission should be a breeze.

Thunderhead keep is one of the hardest Missions in the game, but you are not alone. For advise and all the information you could ever need, see my old thread here:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...mpossible+Keep

There is a bit off random and off-topic stuff going on here, so I'm closing.
