It takes time to explore. Most are way too stressed out to wait for the cutscenes to play - no way they're going to wait while you spend 5-10 minutes exploring the edges of the map.

You'll need to learn to use henches (all areas in Cantha and Prophecies are henchable), and another good idea is to go to Lions Arch or Kaineng Center, respectively, and announce that you're going to, say, explore The Falls, so if anyone is shooting for Explorer, please join... Trying to find explorers in the outposts is hopeless - the areas are 99% populated by farmers, and 1% going through the game for the first time. There are explorers there, but they're out exploring.

So, find fellow explorers in Lions Arch, Droknars Forge, or Kaineng Center.

I probably should have made this obvious when I posted the thread, so people didnt think I was a novice at exploring...

Sorry thats huge.

But I do know about exploring!

Its just when you start it a second time, id rather have some human companions to join my necro. Henches get boring.

Plus its just easier and faster with humans when people are nice enough to help you.

maybe start forming groups here?

i need that map on DoD and THK cleared for
MEsmer, Necro, Ranger, Ele, Rit, Assasin

there should be a "Help LFG" section where you can put in Quests/Missions/Titles Requests, and you can match-up with other people, it would be more efficient, thats what i think..

i need your opinion savio :P

Sounds good. But I can see those group requests becoming outdated fast!

People will post requests to help do missions and quests and within a day or two they'l have completed them.

But its not a bad idea.

The only area I mapped with a group of people was the Northern part of THK. I simply stated that I needed to map the area before we started the mission (as well as reminded everyone near the end of the final battle). Maybe I was just lucky, but everyone was good with it. A few thought it was a good idea in case they went for the title (so as not to have to go back), others just did it for the chests. One way or another, just make it clear at the outset and all should be good.

Thats what I always tell people in missions when asking to explore...

"do you want to help me explore, it will benefit you aswell"

...but alot of the time all I get is "i dont care about that"!

Not always, but alot of the time.

I never even bothered to ask people about exploring areas. I just grabbed the henchies and went. As hard as it is to get a group to do the Bonus (unless you're a Monk) im many places like THK, I figured that my time was better spent grabbing henchies and doing the exploration on my own, even if it took a few times through the mission (like it took me for Dunes, no NT for me!). Besides, running around killing stuff > standing around shouting "LFG." (Especially as a Mesmer! )

My very first character was an ele and I did all kinds of exploring (way before the titles made it fashionable) with him and hench along to help. There were times that I had max dp but I kept going. It is possible.

I have yet to find an 'unhenchable' area in either of the chapters. Go skill capping in the Fire Islands bonus areas and you will quickly find yourself without any takers for a PUG. Funny how an on-line game tends to go better without other people...

Meh! I got bored exploring alone the first time around.

I figured this time id atleast try to explore when humans are there to get some strange satisfaction from it.

In reality it just peepees me off!

well it wont happen, lets say
there is a already thread opened "Help Clearing Dunes Bonus Area"
if someone opens a new thread, it will get closed. people can use searhc button to see if the theres a existing thread or not.

something like that, u got my point :P

Speaking as a person who couldn't care about the 100% maping title, telling people what your intent was is the right thing to do. I've been in PUGs whom didn't tell me that they wanted to explore. I just followed them (helping a friend do a quest with others) and after the quest was over, they kept wandering around. I asked them what was the next thing they wanted to do. No response. I asked again, what quest did they want to do. Then my friend's friend (who was also in the PUG) said, we just want to explore. I told them to enjoy and I left. Apparently, they wanted to explore and complete the quest, but I was only told they wanted help with a quest.

As far as exploring goes, most people want to just complete the mission (and/or bonus/get masters), so they don't want to waste time looking around for no reason (other than help you get the title). In Tyria, as long as I'm not pressed for time, I couldn't care if you wanted to stay in the mission a bit longer to complete the exploration area. However, if I am pressed for time, I will tell people, skip cut scenes and I will go complete the mission as soon as possible.

In Canthas, many want Masters and will not tolerate any wasting of time. So watch yourself when joining a PUG there.

The best is to go with a PUG that has many blood thirsty players. I've been in groups that just want to kill, regardless of where they are. So to keep the group together (I'm a monk) we travelled all over the map (they were killing everything insight). Eventually we completed the mission (but lost the bonus, as a villager died). Oh well.

I just proved my own point last night.

I went into THK with a party and must have said about 10 times before we entered to let me explore and I made sure everyone agreed.

During the mission I was saying "dont speak to king at the end" many, many times.

Mission ends.....cut scene comes on.

I mean honestly!!!!!

Freekedoutfish, I feel your pain! That is just plain mean of the party. I guess I have just been lucky with the groups I had in THK.

Maybe if you tell them that there are always at least 2 chests out there (it's true!), they will let you explore while they look for chests.

Also, did you know that you can actually beat the mission and get the bonus with henchies? Also true! My partner has done it a number of times, with different characters. Henchies are better because they always do what you tell them to do and they will never speak to the king.

Pickup groups rarely want to wander around and explore, unless you just get lucky and have a number of other explorers in the group too.

For missions like THK best bet is a guild group if possible (fill up with henchies if not enough)

I also got 2 x 100%, but for Cantha I started mapping right from the start and did most of it with henchies. For the odd mission where henchies couldn't really cut it I just tried to map what I could along the way without wandering off from the group too much (between fights). Then just redid them to pick up other parts.

Mostly though, henchies are pretty much a must. For the more difficult areas you can always try an attrition approach - take a run skill or two if possible, send in the henchsquad and make a run for the unexplored bits while the henchies take aggro. Then you can sort of drag them along with you by targetting any mobs further along.

I understand full well the pain of finding explorer groups (or ANY groups for that matter), since I've been playing a necro since WPE and until flesh golem and factions necros were pretty much shunned everywhere. I still don't play minion master too often unless I'm feeling lazy.

Anyway, if anyone wants help exploring anywhere feel free to message me in-game, if I'm not in the middle of something I'll likely come help. Just finished up my Canthan title last week, and have had Tyrian for a while, so I don't have all that much left to do in the game until I can afford nightfall, so why not make a few new explore-minded friends until then eh?
