Default Charr Ranger in Pre-sear (Trouble in the Woods)

Has anyone been able to kill the Charr Ranger? I try running straight through the fight to get to it and it still runs away before I can hit it with a bow. Any ideas?

I killed him in the beta events. I was using an Elem/Necro. He was the first guy I targeted, and I hit him with a bunch of heavy damage spells from both lines.

I don't know if you can in the final release version though. I'm playing a Ranger now, and did the quest a few levels lower.

I killed him with my lvl3, single prof, Ranger, after Devona killed all the grawl.
Got a Charr Carving, value 3. Kept just outside his agro range I guess, and whittled him down (no pun intended) with Power Shots. What is this item for/what does it do, if anything?

Just afterward I noticed I was affected by +2% to Health and Energy booted by high morale. I tried dropping the carving to see if it had something to do with it, but alas I don't know what caused it.

Around this same time my Guild, Fury of Dweat (FoD), got our guild capes.

My question, like Death Penalty, which disipates after time/going in a city, will my morale fade/go back to normal if I leave Lakeside County, going to a different county or entering a city?

Moral boost will dissapear if you enter a town or, obviously, die and get a death penalty. Moral stays with you while your in the "outside areas" and it goes up every time you kill a boss monster and or finish a bonus mission (I think, don't know for certian)

The Charr in this mission does run away, but has anyone else noticed a monster behind this Charr named "Spirit of Favorable Winds"? It is a very transparent creature weilding an ax that does not move.
It has been bugging me enough for me to replay the mission several times just to try and kill it. It always disappears right as it is at a sliver of health left.
I am using a Ele/mo @ lvl 7 but I have not been able to drop him by myself without him disappearing in a literal *poof of smoke.
Any suggestions on what he is or what his significance to the story is?

it's a ranger skill, Favorable Winds - Nature Ritual
Create a level 1-8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, arrows move twice as fast as normal and strike for +3 damage. This Spirit dies after 30-126 seconds.

Thanks. Seeing a ghostly like creature on a mission that I would have otherwise not have seen it on greatly perplexed me as to why it was there. The name led me to believe it was some sort of designer's version of dramatic irony seeing as how the Charr were soon to make a bold move on the human settlements, no one knew it was coming: the name just screams dramatic irony from a writer and literary analyzer's perspective.

You see this Glowing Ranger Charr later as well. The Quest "Charr in the Catacombs" finishes with you killing him in the catacombs. So if you don't get him then, you will later!

I did find you can't convert the spirit either. Good job tying the whole thing together as it is hard to keep track of a story quest when you are busy running 30 other unrelated quests.

I'm having problems with this quest, Devona tells me to follow her to the bridge, but then just stands there. Nothing I do can get her to move, nor will she talk about the quest any more. Any ideas on what's going wrong and/or how I can fix this?

Ended up answering my own question: for anyone having quest problems I'd say the first thing to try is to exit the zone and then reenter it, if that doesn't work then exit your character out of the game and then reload it. I had three quests that were messed up (Devona's, the queen worm wasn't showing up, and there were no bees or honeycomb), but all three fixed themselves when I returned to them after a gaming break.

I have killed this Charr. I did it with my level 2 Necro and Gwen, which jump almost to level 4 after killing him. The way I got him is that I went around and came up from behind him. If you get too close to him he runs off. So when you do the quest trouble in the Woods, stay back near the bridge, don't go running towards the charr and the Grawl. The Grawl will come to you. After killing all the Grawl, the Charr will still be there, if you haven't gotten to close to him. Go left just after the bridge and take the long way around past the scorpion cave and come up the hill. The charr will try and run away then, but you can get a block him with you character at the spirit of favorable winds. It was a lot of fun. I do believe he drop a charr hide for me.

morale boosts occur everytime you kill a "boss" character and will increase 2% for each "boss" you kill afterward, but it only lasts while your in the field...ocne you head back to town you lose it.

Yes killed him, Instead of charging the Grawl let Devona Handle them she will die, which is a good thing.

Now run along the river bank and round wher you get the eggs, now continue along that valley towards the exit to regents valley. Now if you lucky and have a bone horroro or pet you can block him as he only runs when he sees you, but as your behind him he has to get through you. kill him exit to regents vally.

Now go back talk to devona again start the quest again, repeat and rinse.

never let devona kill everything, and never kill all the grawl only sneek around and take out the boss then the quest isnto finished and you get the xp for killing him.

If a NPC called Trina Brunn or something along the lines comes down the road he tries to flees but he gets "stuck" in the NPC and doesn't do anything (move or fight back) which makes for easy XP.

If you sell it to a merchant, you will get 3 gold. That's about it.
