Arrow Charming a Level 15 Elder White Tiger! [GUIDE]

Well... after a few tries I figured out how to capture a level 15 White Tiger SOLO.

I'm using a A/R but I'm sure it can be done with any ranger combo (X/R or R/X)

Quote:
Skills:
2 Sprinting
1 Healing
1 Shadow Step (Optional but Easier)
Charm Animal (Most Obvious Hehe)
Quote:
Step 1:
Unlock Jade Flats, it's located in the Kurzick region. Once unlocked Exit WEST of the Jade Flats in Melandru's Hope.

Step 2:
Once in Melandru's Hope go right until you see a ramp, move slowly down the ramp until you see one group of 2 or 3 Warden of the Forest, wait about 10 seconds within that time you will see them move slowly to your right. The key is not to display the tiger on your screen until Step 3, if displayed before Step 3 the ranger boss will charm it.

Step 3:
After 10 seconds move down the ramp, you will notice a 'Elder White Tiger' on your left and the group of Warden with a ranger boss on right.

At this point use your first sprinting skill, once close enough use a shadow step skill to jump into the group (Shadow Stepping will increase your charming time) then use a 2nd sprint skill to break free from the aggro and charge towards the tiger, heal if necessary. If done correctly you should beable to run up to the tiger and Charm it within a 10 second time frame before the partol of warden and the ranger boss come back.

Step 4:
Congratulations! You've Charmed a level 15 White Tiger.

Note: It's based on timing and spawning, so it may take a few tries but it's definitely possible.
If all else fails then use hench to eliminate the partol of warden and the ranger boss once you've completed Step 1 and Step 2. I haven't tried it that way but it seems possible and maybe even easier.

Enjoy!

Why wait till Melandru's Hope to charm a lvl 15 tiger, when you can charm one once you get out of the cities? All you have to do is start casting charm from far away while they are still green, and the Yeti won't be able to charm your pet. (You can charm elder cranes and dire tigers like this too).

Thanks for providing this thread.
I tried but it just requires too many practises to break the aggro. and most of the time i just ended up stucked within the group and died.

so i decided to go with a hench group
well........think of this, when charming the tiger, will the tiger become red and start attacking you?
And if you went with a henchies group, what will they do to the RED tag Tiger?

SImple, they just kill it b4 you can even cap it.

However i still managed to cap the tiger with a hench group all you need is an elite... Aura of displacement.
The trick is, follow Step1 and 2.... run into the group with aura of displacement... Clear the mob...... simple.
But instead of capping the tiger with the henchies around, you will need to do a detour (go to the right side, walk down the stairs) with your SMART henchies. Try to get as far as you can while still maintaining the Aura of Displacement.. once you feel it is a safe distance, disable the AoD and you will shadowstep back to the ramp (or the original spot that you activated the AoD), cap the tiger a.s.a.p while the henchies are trying to figure out where you went. It should have enough time for you to cap the tiger.

It works for me.

a little off topic here, but where are the dire pets? or how can I train one? I only have factions so that means I don't have call of protection which someone said that it is necassary for dire training

also....I've read the pet guilde but ..but in cantha I just can't seem to evolve them or found someone with one .....

Is the white tiger always an elder, or does it spawn as a dire sometimes?

According to http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Tiger,
Quote:
You can find Level 5 White Tigers just West of Tanglewood Copse.

There are level 15 fully evolved tigers (usually dire) found near Yetis in eastern Pongmei Valley. Capturing one is next to impossible, however, as the Yetis will charm them by the time you get to them. On rare occasions, the Yeti may charm a lvl 3 crane instead, and then you're in luck.

Yup! I've successful it about done it 100 times and it's always spawned as 'Elder'.

This is another level 15 tiger located in the game, only different is it only spawns as non-white and Dire. I've also caught this one, so it's definitely possible to charm but just a little tricker since it's more based on speed and spawn.

Very nice strategy! I will check it out when I get the chance. Shortly after I posted I realized that HENCH do actually attack and kill the pet when charming it. ANET should fix that however; in the mean time you could also take 2-3 hench and use them as decoy for the boss group to attack while you run ahead and charm.

Thanks for the guide! I tried it with henchies, that was the easiest. Do step 1, and when Salke stops going right, run skill in, let the henchies attack him and you run on and charm the animal. Some henchies will run with you, but after a certain period of time, by then the charm should be nearly complete.

This is a great guide; I got myself an Elder White Tiger..
Too bad it's not Dire like the one in Pongmei Valley, which isn't that difficult to get despite what guildwiki says. I got one on my first try.. but it's orange!!!!

No. Cannot. I went out from Jade per instruction, the elder white tiger is always tag RED. Can only charm it when is GREEN.

I've tried over 30 times. Still cannot. Can someone please explain. Or has it been nerfed?

Ty so very much..me and a guildy spent about an hour getting it right...then got 4 in a row for some of our officers. I can't imagine how you managed to have the patience or brilliance for this, but thank you! Honestly, it was exhilarating. I got mine on my first try and it felt like a roller coaster...hit traps, lost aggro, tiger beating the shit out of me. I was at 42 health when she turned. All hail the viscious Lez Kitty!

Hehe, it's abit tricky at the start but once you get the hang of it... it's very simple.
I'm Glad you got it though, enjoy your new tiger

Aww Thanks for your very kind comments, I really appreciate it
lol, I know the feeling... first time I charmed it I had like 25 hp left since I accidentally ran into the traps set near the spirits. Congratulations to you and your guildies on Charming it
