Default Problems Finding Quests in NF - No green stars giving directions.

Before I write anything, I love NF. I think so far its better then Factions was on release.

This may just be, and I expect it is, but I had issues finding quests in NF over the weekend.

Now im not unexperienced at GWs having played my lvl20 ele through both proph and factions and having 4 full titles already.

But I had come to a point in NF where I had explored about 40% of the map and found most of the areas in the southern desert region.

I had done the odd few quests (not that I had found many yet) and found about 10 towns/cities, including the capital sunspear one.

But it came to the point where I couldnt find any NPCs with quests. I couldnt find any with green icons flashing above them other then the challenege on.

I had a quest listed in my primary quests telling me to earn more sunspear points and achieve sunspear general.

Speaking to an NPC I was told to speak to guards at all the res points on the starting island to gain tasks and points.

I did that, but with my being lvl20 already and having achieved the previous sunspear rank, they refused to give me tasks because they were unworthy of my skill or something.

There was no direction in the quest explanation, or instructions on where else to look or go.

I wandered around for about 2 days not knowing where to go.

It was only by chance that I realised....

...Hang on, I got a quest from inside the Command Post, maybe I should look
in there.

So I did and Koss and another NPC are waiting to give me quests.

This isnt really the first time thats happened with quests.

I've had about 3 now where it has said "complete these first" and listed quests to do in order to proceeed.

But they dont tell you where to go to do them. There isnt any green star flashing on the map pointing you there, like any experienced GW player would expect.

I admit that if you read the explanation it gives some direction.

Such as "speak to blah dee blah in this town".

But had I not already explored 40% and found most of the towns in that area, I would have been wandering around for ages due to there being no green star pointing you there.

Ive found more quests now and Im not as frustrated as I was over the weekend, but its a bit daft in my opinion.

Why is it not always giving green stars for quests as it did in previous campaigns!!!

Well, you got to eran 2500 sunspear points to continue. There are priests on the mainland who give you 4 points for killing Kournan soldiers for instance. Once you get 2500 you'll be able to continue. btw, from the Sunspear Sanctuary are 2 exit's, The Command Post (with Dunkoro giving quests, later more) and then to an explorable area. Talk to the priests by the res hrines to activate the double xp, 4 sunspear points a kill bonus.

Umm, Lonai told you to go to the command post for quests.

Did you, possibly, just click the OK button without reading what everyone says? It was quite clear to me where to go at the time - I did what the dialog said (it mentioned several things you should go do). There is no reason for a green arrow pointing you there on the "And a hero shall lead them" quests - those quests are not part of that one. The green arrow shouldn't point to them any more than it should point to every available quest at that time plus to all the exits with the rez shrines as dots. They are simply side quests.

They also did not specify that you should only talk to the noob island rez shrine people, it said to talk to the people in front of rez shrines. You assumed Istan only - that may be a somewhat valid assumption, but most people didn't really have to figure it out.

If you do not read what the quest givers say your going to find MUCH more trouble with a few quests down the line.

after missions the town you end up in usually has the quest to continue with storyline

So far ive only actually done two missions....

both were on the start island or prompted from there.

Ive had no more missions to land me anymore towns or locations to find quests.

But as I said, I found more quests.

Its the fact you dont always get told where to go with them, due to a lack of a green star at times.

That's because there isn't a set way to get 2500 points. You can do it using quests, or monsters with the blessing. Once you have 2500 points, the story will continue.

I found a point where I had NO quests, not even the sunspear ones, active, but I knew in the back of my mind I had to check into the cemetary outpost for a mission that didn't used to exist there.

On one hand, I'm used to always knowing where to go next, but on the other hand if we should be paying attention to the story so we'd instinctively know where to go regardless of green stars, that probably isn't a bad thing.
